The discoloration is very minimal. I have not turned blue. The extent of skin discoloration is not even remotely near what the news media are saying. It is barely noticeable.

The news media are, for the most part, the bringers of bad news... and it's not entirely the media's fault, bad news gets higher ratings and sells more papers than good news.

Bowery Afternoon

Drab discoloration
Of faces, façades, pawn-shops,
Second-hand clothing,
Smoky and fly-blown glass of lunch-rooms,
Odors of rancid life…

Deadly uniformity
Of eyes and windows
Alike devoid of light…
Holes wherein life scratches -
Mangy life
Nosing to the gutter's end…

Show-rooms and mimic pillars
Flaunting out of their gaudy vestibules
Bosoms and posturing thighs…

Over all the Elevated
Droning like a bloated fly.

Lazyman's Wise Prayer

LAZYMAN'S WISE PRAYER

If to that extent RICH indeed
I need not have to toil hard instead

If to that extent SHREWD indeed
I would have skipped some years instead

If to that extent BRAVE indeed
I could'nt have lost on more counts instead

If to that extent READY indeed
I should'nt have to repent now instead

If to that extent FOUGHT indeed
I ought to have won fast instead

If to that extent all B A D indeed
Better I should'nt have the right to live instead

Far Off

I should like to relate this memory ...
but it is so faded now ... scarecely anthing is left --
because it lies far off, in the years of my early manhood.

A skin as if made of jasmine ...
that night in August -- was it August? -- that night ...
I can just barely remember the eyes; they were, I think, blue ...
Ah yes, blue; a sapphire blue.

Blue World

Heart and soul took control
Took control of me
Paid my dues spread the news
Hands across the sea
Put me down turned me round
Turned me round to see
Marble halls open doors
Someone found the key
And its only what you do
That keeps coming back on you
And its only what you say
That can give yourself away
Underground sight and sound
Human symphony
Heard the voice had no choice
Needed to be free
Fly me high touch the sky
Left the earth below
Heard the line saw the sign
Knew which way to go
Cos its easier to try
Than to prove it cant be done
And its easier to stay
Than to turn around and run
Its a blue world
It takes somebody to help somebody
Oh its a blue world
Its a new world
It needs somebody to love somebody
Oh its a blue world
Heart and soul took control
Took control of me
Paid my dues spread the news
Hands across the sea
Put me down turned me round
Turned me round to see
Marble halls open doors
Someone found the key
And its only what you do
That keeps coming back on you
And its only what you say
That can give yourself away

I shall suggest, on the contrary, that all communication relies, to a noticeable extent on evoking knowledge that we cannot tell, and that all our knowledge of mental processes, like feelings or conscious intellectual activities, is based on a knowledge which we cannot tell.

Alone In the Sea

In the deep ocean

Depths torturing with untold stories

Waves splash, tumble and fall

There at one moment

Gone the next

Sparkling magic barely noticeable

Abandoned beauty

But everlasting

Rust.

Around my neck the dog tag military style chain

Worn it for years

Don't care for the gold bling-bling

Hanging on this chain one small trinket

Flat round and silver

Embossed with the word 'family'

Shining brightly I'd never take it off

Only when I'd shave

And it's sheen never dulled until today

Irish by birth the 'family' has been my rock

Always there always fair

Until all I've put them through became too much

I never knew there was a thing

As too much

When it came to family it was more than name

It was blood.

Now they don't speak to me or return emails

Inbox is empty

Everyday I wish for only one small sentence

A few weeks ago I lost the necklace for the first time

Initially frantic

Then forgotten as my anger grew I was glad

Today looking through my tote bag full of junk

There it lay

Familiar chain with the flat ring.....'family'

I looked closer at the discoloration of rusted beginnings

And thought 'how ironic'

It's the same color rust

Which through my eyes

I now see clearly.

Sin

You give me the reason.
You give me control.
I gave you my purity.
My purity you stole.
Did you think I wouldnt recognize this compromise.
Am I just too stupid to realize.
Stale incense old sweat and lies lies lies
It comes down to this.
Your kiss.
Your fist.
And your strain.
It gets under my skin.
Within.
Take in the extent of my sin
You give me the anger.
You give me the nerve.
Carry out the sentence.
I get what I deserve.
Im just an effigy to be defaced.
To be disgraced.
Your need for me has been replaced.
And if I cant have everything well then just give me a taste.
It comes down to this.
Your kiss.
Your fist.
And your strain.
It gets under my skin.
Within.
Take in the extent of my sin

Reasons For My Depression

REASONS FOR MY DEPRESSION

I know this weight this inertia
I know this sense of being drawn down
I know this feeling that nothing can be done
That I can do nothing
I know this sense of threat
A war might come and the enemy missiles make our cities burn
My loved ones might be in danger
I know this fear of being abandoned
Of our people facing another disaster
Wandering in homelessness
I know this feeling of being able to go nowhere
I know this feeling of never being able to get out of it
I know the tiredness and the indifference
I know my sense that I have wasted my life and work is not worth anything
The taxman is coming
The money is running out
There are more unanticipated expenses
When I just do not have it
I have already spent more this month than I should have
My clothes are old and worn
So much about me is so shabby
I do not like other parents and grandparents
Have the money to really be of help
There are so many unfixed broken things in the house
That I should have fixed long ago
I have chronic pain now as never before
The blood pressure the prostate
Will I ever get out of it? I have not been able to yet
I have so many health problems now
Is the skin discoloration cancer?
We may have a visitor who is lost himself and needs help
I do not know how to give
How much of my time will he take?
I do not have the patience for anyone or anything
Please don't bother me but I can't get out of this myself
My wife is disappointed with me
My wife is not that well and I worry about her health
I worry about my children so much I undermine their confidence
So many of our friends are sick and dying
I am already old and only getting older
The next stage is the walker the wheelchair
Will I be surprised and have a stroke
And become the worst kind of burden?
I remember my mother eight years in a wheelchair unable to speak,
We all die and I have not bought a gravesite yet
I am older than I ever pictured myself as being
So many hate us on the basis of their own bigotry stupidity ignorance
there are so many bad people in the world
there is so much hatred
there are so many reasons for despair
there is no end of reasons
I can go on and on and on
The question is not why I despair
But how do I manage most of the time not to?

Explorations: XXXI

Skin morphs into
A vulnerable leaf
In the face of passion
And paralyzing fever

Skin feels a textured
Piece of unique art
Tempting one to touch
When just bathed

There's no difference
Between the landscape
And the skin when
Both are fresh

Skin,
Potent communicator
Of the subtle body language
Ah, the skin!

The treasure
Skin hides like
The deep ocean blue
What's skin deep?

Good News

Something to begin with
That's easy said than done
You'll see me rolling home
But I don't understand why
Still there's nothing at all
Time is on my side
But we mustn't let our disappointment show
But I will, and you will go on
All I need is some good news (some good news)
All I need is some good news (just some good news)
To put me on my feet (to put me on my feet)
To put me at my ease (at my ease)
All I need is some good news (all I need is some good news)
All I need is some good news (some good news)
To put me at my ease (to put me at my ease)
All I need is some good news
All I need is some good news (just gimme me some good news)
All I need is some good news (some good news)
To put me at my ease (to put me at my ease)
To put me on my feet (on my feet, on my feet)
All I need is some good news (all I need is some good news)
All I need is some good news (all I need is some good news)
All I need is some good news
All I need is some good news (all I need is good news)
To put me on my ease (to put me at my ease)
To put me on my feet (on my feet, on my feet)
All I need is some good news (good news)

Sweet Silence

Sometimes the best news is no news at all.
Then you wouldn't hear if there was war or if the stocks fall.
Today, nothing we hear of the television is good.
They tell bad news and say "they did what they could."
If we hear nothing, we assume everything is alright,
We could go to our beds and sleep tight.
How would you feel, if on the television on the wall,
You turned on the news and heard nothing at all.

Black And Blue

Cold empty bed...springs hurt my head
Feels like ole ned...wished i was dead
What did i do...to be so black and blue
Even the mouse...ran from my house
They laugh at you...and all that you do
What did i do...to be so black and blue
I'm white...inside...but, that don't help my case
That's life...can't hide...what is in my face
How would it end...ain't got a friend
My only sin...is in my skin
What did i do...to be so black and blue
(instrumental break)
How would it end...i ain't got a friend
My only sin...is in my skin
What did i do...to be so black and blue
