There can be no knowledge without emotion. We may be aware of a truth, yet until we have felt its force, it is not ours. To the cognition of the brain must be added the experience of the soul.

Aurobindo 40-Savitri-Book -2

An appreciation on Savitri
Book II The Book of the Traveller of the Worlds
Canto VI The Kingdoms and Godheads of the Greater Life
Words within inverted commas are Aurobindo's

'In that intense domain of intimacy
Objects dwell as companions of the soul; '
'In all who have risen to a greater Life,
A voice of unborn things whispers to the ear,
To their eyes visited by some high sunlight
Aspiration shows the image of a crown: '
And that is how the rest on earth want to rise
In vain we need a raising soul to comply with..

'This was transition-line and starting-point,
A first immigration into heavenliness,
For all who cross into that brilliant sphere:
These are the kinsmen of our earthly race;
This region borders on our mortal state.'
'There is a knowledge in the heart of sleep
And Nature comes to them as a conscious force.'
A wakeful cognition in a cognitive sleep..

'At Wisdom's altar they are kings and priests
Or their life a sacrifice to an idol of Power.'
'There Matter is soul's result and not its cause.'
'This world's apparent sensible design
Looks vibrant back to some interior might.'
'Powers here subliminal that act unseen
Or in ambush crouch waiting behind the wall..'
Yes, concealment is one of the five godly qualities, but..

'The unseen was felt and jostled visible shapes.'
'In the communion of two meeting minds
Thought looked at thought and had no need of speech;
Emotion clasped emotion in two hearts,
They felt each other's thrill in the flesh and nerves'
'As when two houses burn and fire joins fire: '...

............My consciousness this moment,
O'Guru, I'm in awe....in invincible heights
Ineffable Thee embellishing poetic creation
My inquisitive apprehension, erring Thee may opine
May thereso, let Savitri in my self arise
Aroused thereso be knowledge and fortune

Light And Warmth

In cheerful faith that fears no ill
The good man doth the world begin;
And dreams that all without shall still
Reflect the trusting soul within.
Warm with the noble vows of youth,
Hallowing his true arm to the truth;

Yet is the littleness of all
So soon to sad experience shown,
That crowds but teach him to recall
And centre thought on self alone;
Till love, no more, emotion knows,
And the heart freezes to repose.

Alas! though truth may light bestow,
Not always warmth the beams impart,
Blest he who gains the boon to know,
Nor buys the knowledge with the heart.
For warmth and light a blessing both to be,
Feel as the enthusiast--as the world-wise see.

Sonnet -On Experience

One cannot learn from experience always,
For Knowledge is a sea; experience, Lake;
Some learn the same in hours or weeks or days;
Some never do all life, forever fake.

Experience implies one had done mistakes;
It is much wiser to learn from others;
To forget knowledge too, experience makes;
A continued process, it is, brothers.

Experience can't vouchsafe a man is wise;
And wisdom comes to one who God well loves;
Too much of experience could turn a vice.
All need not see the burst of bombs or stoves.
By experience, no man should turn haughty,
Nor should he try to be with peers, naughty.

But though cognition is not an element of mental action, nor even in any real sense of the word an aspect of it, the distinction of cognition and conation has if properly defined a definite value.

Soul Return

Life confused thought scattered
Dreams unattainable
Unreachable destiny
Everything rejected
Me and company mine
But
The truth different a bit
I felt the world fake
Not for me or my type
Untrue all the faces
Sights strange and vague
All I felt and thought
All I did, half heartfelt
Life now
Calm beautiful and fascinating
Since you are its part
Added life to soul mine
Like soul returned in me.

Love is the garment of knowledge. The soul first trains itself by systematic unknowing until at last it confronts the only reality, the only knowledge, God manifest in itself. The soul can say nothing about this
experience in the sense of defining it. It can only reveal it to others.

4. Grow Well

The knowledge tree will need to grow
While we still have the need to know
Its roots secure to help it growing
Food it seeks our need for knowing

Thick stout trunk a brain or store
With many wonders to explore
Branches go at every angle
Many problems to untangle

A tree as this of many years
Survives by feeding from our tears
Sometimes joy at knowledge found
They fall like raindrops on the ground

Remember in the world out there
Try to learn and be aware
And if you’re able, go to college
To fertilize this tree of knowledge

Albert Einstein

The most beautiful and most profound emotion we can experience is the sensation of the mystical. It is the sower of all true science. So to whom this emotion is a stranger, who can no longer wonder and stand rapt in awe, is as good as dead. To know that which is impenetretrable to us really exists, manifesting itself as the highest wisdom and the most radiant beauty which our dull faculties can comprehend only in their primitive forms-this knowledge, this feeling is at the center of true religiousness.

The melody of heart speak in words that feels the

Some Express Their Depictions

An expression of an emotion,
Should come from one's experience.
As a feeling that personal and felt.
And yet...
Some express their depictions,
Of what another may confess...
As an opportunity to leave their own feelings,
Left unaddressed.
While attempting to interpret,
Those feelings felt by someone else.
To prove the limitation,
Of their own communication.

Cognition Restarted

With a cognition restarted,
After being away and in between selective
Thoughts and memories...
People are now finding a desire to rally around,
Responsibility!

With cognition restarted,
Accountability has ignited...
With a hope it is not too late to reinstate reality.
Or some possible remnant of it.

And those now claiming,
To have ownership of the tones detected in their voices...
Are professing to take back what belongs to them.
When they are the ones who sold themselves out...
To parade around in falsities.
Isn't that how all of this came to be?

With a cognition restarted,
After being away and in between selective
Thoughts and memories...
People are now finding a desire to rally around,
Responsibility!

As if awarding a vacant space to an urban artist to paint...
Signifies an acknowledgement,
As to who is called upon first...
To disguise a trench one has dug!
After using dollars and cents to pour cement,
To abandon as whims go mothballed.
At the expense of those who have forgotten,
Just how appalled they were.

Now the initiators of greed return!
Hoping to qualify for funding,
By claiming to provide a life experience to the locals.
Recycling a very familiar setting.
And implementing the same routines.
To establish an agency for feeding those less fortunate.

For literature sake.

When the body ages, does the soul do?
When the body gets wounds, does the soul suffer?
Are body and soul like sac and air?
Not so obviously.
Are body and soul like flesh and heat?
Might be.
Does not soul die when body dies, then?
Heart is not the seat of emotion, but brain.
Soul is not distinct to be treated so.
Yet soul is distinct for literature sake.

To the artist is sometimes granted a sudden, transient insight which serves in this matter for experience. A flash, and where previously the brain held a dead fact, the soul grasps a living truth! At moments we are all artists.

This Consciousness that is aware

822

This Consciousness that is aware
Of Neighbors and the Sun
Will be the one aware of Death
And that itself alone

Is traversing the interval
Experience between
And most profound experiment
Appointed unto Men—

How adequate unto itself
Its properties shall be
Itself unto itself and none
Shall make discovery.

Adventure most unto itself
The Soul condemned to be—
Attended by a single Hound
Its own identity.

Self-Knowledge XVII

And a man said, "Speak to us of Self-Knowledge."

And he answered, saying:

Your hearts know in silence the secrets of the days and the nights.

But your ears thirst for the sound of your heart's knowledge.

You would know in words that which you have always know in thought.

You would touch with your fingers the naked body of your dreams.

And it is well you should.

The hidden well-spring of your soul must needs rise and run murmuring to the sea;

And the treasure of your infinite depths would be revealed to your eyes.

But let there be no scales to weigh your unknown treasure;

And seek not the depths of your knowledge with staff or sounding line.

For self is a sea boundless and measureless.

Say not, "I have found the truth," but rather, "I have found a truth."

Say not, "I have found the path of the soul." Say rather, "I have met the soul walking upon my path."

For the soul walks upon all paths.

The soul walks not upon a line, neither does it grow like a reed.

The soul unfolds itself, like a lotus of countless petals.

Truth and Lies

Is the truth beyond our lies,
Say what you want,
Watch what you say,
For our hidden lies, we must pay.

In the darkness of the night,
In the brightness of the day,
Truth and lies have gone astray.

Does your truth contain a lie?
Black as coal, the midnight sky.
Truth will shine,
It is the light,
To tell the truth,
With a soul so bright.

Is truth defined just in the mind?
In the Prince of Darkenss lies defined.
Love of the truth will scorn the Devil,
Our truth must stay at our highest level.

Of these shortcomings,
Are we aware?
That we speak of lies so unaware!
Every lie turns the truth aside,
Our secret truths, we sometimes hide.

A Taste For Truth!

I speak the truth I discover
In Self, world, Nature, Universe, God…
I express truth in poetry I explore
In Arts, woman and Nature.
I intellectually analyse truth I experience
In life, work, interactions, the incidences…
I philosophise over truth I observe
In experience, books, others….
I ponder over truth I notice
In experiment, observation, inference…
I infer the truth I analyse
In experiment, experience, observation….
I intellectually love truth I search for
In news, stories, articles, etc.
