When the media defines something, you have to question: Is it the definition that you want applied to your culture? I'm trying to determine who's leaving the legacy, and if the legacy that is being left is a positive one.

Snail Crossing...
it's not what you own, what you have, or what you've accomplished... that defines you as a man, or a woman... it's what you've given.... therein, lies your legacy! the question we have to ask ourselves is this... if we died tonight, would there be any evidence that we have lived? if we were gone, would we have loved enough to be remembered?

It is up to us to live up to the legacy that was left for us, and to leave a legacy that is worthy of our children and of future generations.

A Family of Friends
I look around me,
And what do I see?
A group of friends,
Who have inspired me,
We're there for each other,
We're there any time,
And I can say...
We're a legacy,
A legacy of friends,
We've come together in unity,
Let's join our hands,
And praise our God,
For we are a family of friends.
We've looked around us,
And found our strength,
He is around us,
O praise his name,
He brought us together,
In this place,
So I say again..
We're a legacy,
A legacy of friends,
We've come together in unity,
Let's join our hands,
And praise our God,
For we are a family of friends.
We thought we knew,
Who we were,
But as the days when it by,
It was unclear,
But we came together,
To talk it out,
And we soon found out...
We're a legacy,
A legacy of friends,
We've come together in unity,
Let's join our hands,
And praise our God,
For we are a family of friends.

Projections
We don’t have to try to be eternal
We already are
Our legacy is today
She tries to write poetry for legacy
She is sick and afraid
She wants a legacy
He tries to be profound
He tries to show off
Being ourselves is profound
Being in the moment is love
When we impress we are fake
Emily Dickinson had no fame
She had no audience
She was real and true to herself
Real art needs no mirrors
When we project we are lost

With sincere modesty, if there is such a thing, I have never thought of legacy at all. I am always grateful if people like what I have done. A legacy is something no one can forsee.

My Legacy
My friend has gone away from me
From shadow into perfect light,
But leaving a sweet legacy.
My heart shall hold it long in fee
A grand ideal, calm and bright,
A song of hope for ministry,
A faith of unstained purity,
A thought of beauty for delight
These did my friend bequeath to me;
And, more than even these can be,
The worthy pattern of a white,
Unmarred life lived most graciously.
Dear comrade, loyal thanks to thee
Who now hath fared beyond my sight,
My friend has gone away from me,
But leaving a sweet legacy.

Legacy Of Kings
Out in the fields
The full moon is rising
Enlightens the name on our shields
Blessed with pride
Steel on our side
Were horsemen of thunder
The ground starts to shake as we ride
Side by side
Stormbringer led us into the unknown
On wings of glory we will carry on
Legacy of kings c legacy of kings
Forever to surrvive, were
Riding on the winds c riding on the winds
Unchained and free, alive forevermore
Deep in the night
We circle around them
The honor compels us to fight
All for one
All hewed with steel
In the toil of the battle
Our enemies fate will reveal
And be sealed
The chill of the wind keeps on calling our names
Theres no turning back now, keep hold of the flame
Legacy of kings c legacy of kings
Forever to surrvive, were
Riding on the winds c riding on the winds
Unchained and free, alive forevermore
Now we are here
And there is nothing left to fear
The secrets of steel
The path of glory will reveal
Legacy of kings c legacy of kings
Forever to surrvive, were
Riding on the winds c riding on the winds
Unchained and free, alive forevermore

Why is it that many contemporary male thinkers, especially men of color, repudiate the imperialist legacy of Columbus but affirm dimensions of that legacy by their refusal to repudiate patriarchy?

Smile
Smile, youll steal away my soul
Smile, Ill hide away and cry
My minds made up
I will shudder to see your eyes
Smile no doubt Ill keep my pride
But it may be hard to find
Theres nothing left
Handed down your legacy
But more regret
Painted on with empathy
Smile, dont complicate my time
Smile dont ask me if Im fine
My world blown down
There is nothing that words can say
Smile, no doubt Ill keep my pride
But it may be hard to find
Theres nothing left
Handed down your legacy
But more regret
Painted on with empathy
Theres nothing left, theres nothing left
Smile, youll steal away my soul
Smile, Ill hide away and cry
Theres nothing left
Handed down your legacy
Smile, youll steal away my soul
Smile, Ill hide away and cry
Theres nothing left
Handed down your legacy
Smile, no doubt Ill keep my pride
But it may be hard to find
If only you had tried
Going to leave it far behind
It may be hard to find
If only you had tried
Going to leave it far behind

Theses, faeces, syntheses
O the language of the thesis!
O the octopus of Academe!
‘As I argued in my previous book,
‘Some definitions of ‘definition’ in contemporary philosophy’ –
an argument which I hope to pursue
in a following volume, (and I quote) :
‘to define what we mean by ‘definition’
we must first consider
the nature of definition:
can it be itself defined? Is
its definition itself a retreat
from what definition defines? …’
and the wood of academic chairs
creaking as a lecture ends,
from which once the young sap rose
like the hope of definition
dries, decays and dessicates.

A Legacy!
God has given power;
Nature has given character;
Mother has given love;
Father has given knowledge;
Teacher has given personality;
Leader has given inspiration;
Experience has given culture;
Culture has given wisdom;
Meditation has given enlightenment;
Mysticism has given bliss!

Right And Wrong
To determine what is right and wrong,
But this poem defines your love!
And like the ethical beliefs in the land of your love.
Compatible personalities,
Positive moral character;
You've killed him so bury him now.

Leaving A (Poet's) Legacy.............. [SHORT; Personal]
Not all can leave a legacy of money, real estate, or famous works of art.
Some legacies are products of emotions such as love and caring from ones heart.
My personal financial legacy will be small unless my wife dies first,
and even then it will not come near to matching that of William Randolph Hearst.
From my parents I received some love, good genes, and a little dough.
My daughter should receive the same, plus into the bargain my poems I'll throw.

God Has Such Amazing Faith
We talk about believing in God
Believing in lies believing in truth,
Being a living sacrifice, putting our full trust in something that we
Cannot even see
But man, God is the one who really has strong faith
How does such a being, full of power, trust us?
He had a legacy, He sent His only son to the world
That Son was His hope, His pride, His joy, the world's very Savior
And yet that same Son was crucified
And then He died
But through power He rose again
And gave that power, that exceeding gain
To us.
We have that Spirit
But God entrusted his legacy to mortal man
There is no evidence of the resurrection
That evidence is Jesus Himself who is seated on the throne
The Only evidence we have is the Holy Spirit
God's faith in us amazes me
That He'd trust a fallen people, not only with such power
But the legacy of His Son, His legacy.
That He'd entrust us to spread His gospel.
I can scarce believe that God had such faith
To leave the only evidence of Jesus and His resurrection
In the hearts of men
Thank you God for your faith and trust
It's hard for us to put our faith in You, You who is powerful
You who is merciful, You who is loving.
But in all your great mercy and love
You put your faith in us
To spread that gospel
To use that power
To continue the legacy
To listen to the Spirit
To make disciples
To live
Because before You
Before Your sacrifice
Before the new heart
Before the redemption
Before the forgiveness
Before the healing
We were all dead
So thank You God
Thank You for having faith in me, even when I doubt you
Thank You for having faith in us, when we're a skeptical people
So thank You for the cross
I'll
We'll continue that legacy
Your Spirit, God, You, will be the living and strong evidence
That you are powerful, that Jesus rose from the dead
Lord God
I'll
We'll carry this Spirit to the ends of the earth
Because YOUR love, YOUR grace, and God YOUR FAITH
They give us strength

Mirror On The Wall
Silver silence looms her legacy
The pride of fallen angels
Roman slave ships
Us and them
Your words are vain rhymes
Your power a throne of mirrors
Mirror mirror on the wall
Fade into sphinx gray frames
Galleria of superfluous ego
Identity of art
Identity of superficial ownership
Legacy of masks
Charlatans
The cross is bloody with humility

For Oil Not For Freedom
My heart goes to those who grieve for their war dead in war torn Iraq
Life when it is taken cannot be given back
Those who started this war from Iraq may live far away
But to Karma they do have a huge price to pay
For thousands of deaths in Iraq the pro war media terrorists do blame
But terrorism absent from Iraq before the invaders came
To excuse the war instigators of their crimes this is their way
Though they had started something brutal and ugly that does seem fair to say
Poor Iraqi mothers for their war dead left to grieve
The stories of a pro war media why should they believe
It does not take courage a life for to take
And the legacy of war is death, grief and heart-break
They cannot be brought back to life the Iraqi war dead
For oil not for freedom their blood has been shed

European Legacy
She smiles at me
From beyond the eastern sea-shore.
Flashing jewelled eyes,
She hoists her skirts so high.
Nouvelle cuisine or an oyster bar ---
Its really up to her.
Ill write every cheque she brings to me.
I shoot on sight ---
Its my european legacy.
Round the castle walls ---
About the highlands and the islands
The faint reminders stand.
Visitors who took a hand
A thousand years ago, or so ---
Stranded high and dry by tides ---
Washed up a new identity.
The channels wide ---
But its their european legacy.
I strain my eyes
Against the southern light advancing.
On whiter cliffs Im high.
The sea birds roll and tumble as they fly.
I hear distant mainland music echo
In my island ears.
My feet begin to move instinctively
To the warmer beat of my european legacy.
She smiles at me
From beyond the eastern sea-shore.
Flashing jewelled eyes,
She hoists her skirts so high.
Nouvelle cuisine or an oyster bar ---
Its really up to her.
Ill write every cheque she brings to me.
She shoots on sight ---
Its her european legacy.
