If you treat with courtesy your equal, who is privileged to resent an impertinence, how much more cautious should you be to your dependents, from whom you demand a respectful demeanor.

Dependents
we are all dependents,
in one form or another...
that being said,
let us be working dependents,
allowing others to lean on us,
to find refuge in our living,
to count on us.
at the same time...
let us not be enslaved,
used, abused, or treated
like property!
let our actions be
the actions of a free people,
that have chosen to be involved!

Whatever Happened to Gratitude?
Whatever happened to gratitude?
Is it dead, or just taking a break?
Could somebody tell me why 'Thank you'
Is so hard a gesture to make?
When someone does you a favour,
Without thought of personal gain,
Are those two simple words too demanding?
Does it bring about physical pain?
I was taught to treat others with courtesy,
To be civil, respectful, and warm.
A casual 'Cheers, mate' was frowned on.
That would have been judged as bad form.
'Cheers' is what you say at a toast!
As a platitude it sounds insincere!
If you're grateful for kindnesses given,
Say 'Thanks' and you're debt will be clear! ! ! !

Yes I Am
I resent you calling
I resent your voice
I resent that I
Don't have a choice
Anywhere I go
You are always there
Outside the car
Or in my hair
I think I've been here before
Yes I've been here before
The last time you locked
All the doors
And I resent you calling
I resent your voice
I resent that I
Don't have a choice
And yes I am wary
Yes I am

If 1 And 2 Were Equal
If 1 and 2 were equal
we'd have as many hearts as fists
If 1 and 2 were equal
we'd have confused shopping lists
If 1 and 2 were equal
there'd be less phone numbers to dial
If 1 and 2 were equal
noon would surely last a while
If 1 and 2 were equal
there'd be a nose under each eye
If 1 and 2 were equal
you couldn't say no to 'you and I? '
If 1 and 2 were equal
I think I'd be much more happy
'cause if 1 and 2 were equal
I would not be so lonely

Courtesy
Of Courtesy, it is much less
Than Courage of Heart or Holiness,
Yet in my Walks it seems to me
That the Grace of God is in Courtesy.
On Monks I did in Storrington fall,
They took me straight into their Hall;
I saw Three Pictures on a wall,
And Courtesy was in them all.
The first the Annunciation;
The second the Visitation;
The third the Consolation,
Of God that was Our Lady's Son.
The first was of St. Gabriel;
On Wings a-flame from Heaven he fell;
And as he went upon one knee
He shone with Heavenly Courtesy.
Our Lady out of Nazareth rode -
It was Her month of heavy load;
Yet was her face both great and kind,
For Courtesy was in Her Mind.
The third it was our Little Lord,
Whom all the Kings in arms adored;
He was so small you could not see
His large intent of Courtesy.
Our Lord, that was Our Lady's Son,
Go bless you, People, one by one;
My Rhyme is written, my work is done.

It is the peculiarity of privilege and of every privileged position to kill the intellect and heart of man. The privileged man, whether he be privileged politically or economically, is a man depraved in intellect and heart.

Just Because....
just because...
your skin is dark,
and mine is light...
does that demand fear and hate?
are our dreams not the same color?
do both of our hearts not pump red?
just because...
you speak a different language,
and your god has a different name...
does that demand fear and wars?
are our needs not the same?
are our families not tired of the deaths?
just because...
you have money,
and i dont...
does that demand fear and oppression?
is our hunger not one and the same?
do we not both have faces and names?
just because...
i am human, you are human!
equal in value, dependent on each other!
and none are free, until all are free!

The Knife is stolen
To love your heart, anyone can do
But to live in it, only the fortunate can.
To pay attention, every one likes
But to get in return, only the gifted can.
To tell you one’s mind, each one get tempted
But only the privileged can dare, of whom
The one who is acknowledged by you is the most privileged.
I found that I am the most privileged.
Rubber grows six years to tap.
The relation took six years to ripe.
But my parting deserts the tapping.

O my love, tolerate my wrongs
O my love
Please tolerate my wrongs
As a father tolerates
The impudence of his son
As a friend tolerates
The impertinence of his friend
My respectful obeisances
I fall down to offer you
And asking your mercy
O my love
Tolerate my wrongs
Tolerate my love.

The privileged ones
A scandal about a man and a woman
In equal status is denied by the both
With vehemence and with a chuckle.
Sex endorses them as the privileged.

Our Obedient, Respectful Daughter
our daughter
if nothing else
is so respectful
of her elders and so,
consequently,
she is obedient
why, just the other day
her teacher asks
in Nature revision:
What do you call the outside of a tree?
and my little girl so honest
which is something else she is
confesses her ignorance
Bark, Susan
says the teacher
offering the answer;
and Susan
ever obedient and respectful
she goes:
Bow-wow!
Bow-wow!
Oh, our Susan
she’s so respectful and obedient
we’re so, so proud of her

Courtesy
I remember years ago
when courtesy was quite normal
amongst most people.
Giving up your seat on a bus
to someone elderly or a mum to be.
Opening the door for a woman
or someone struggling with something.
Being polite to everyone, you met.
Courtesy and respect
then used to hold each other’s hand,
but not anymore, I am afraid.
They have almost vanished
through the passing of time.
Some youngsters swear at you
instead of saying thank you
when you offer to help them out a bit.
The helping hands are hardly ever there
when you need one occasionally.
Instead, they just ignore you
and pass on their way.
I hope someone soon will think
of having a courtesy day.
A day when the whole world
can back on track
with giving a little courtesy every day.

For Those Wounded by Love
i've been divorced before,
been in relationships that
ended badly...
and i know the deep level
of pain and anger and loss...
where there was great love,
there will be an even greater
sense of hurt... as if the whole
world comes crashing down on you...
one of the hardest things
for me was when there were
children involved.... especially
small children....
(and all children, in a parent's
eyes are small!)
i can remember waking up at night
in a sweat hearing my children calling,
'Daddy, Daddy...'
and this went on for years!
we are human, full of goodness and badness,
darkness and light... with desires and
wants and needs...
and love is a very human thing, as
is marriage!
it's a long journey that takes
two people walking side by side...
passion carries its own responsibility...
commitments made in the heat
have to be strong to withstand
the cold...
let's be careful how we treat each other,
and how we treat ourselves...
a lot of people carry the wounds
of love, a lot of people are hurting...
be respectful enough to not do
anything that you cannot honor...
and forgive... for that's the
only way to be forgiven!
whatever happens, be respectful!

Publicly You Treat Me Evil
You don't have to be,
Pleasing and sweet.
But publicly...
You treat me evil.
In private you are so adored.
And I am sure...
You-are-my-equal.
But on the streets,
You then deceive.
You have a need,
To treat me evil.
Why do you seek,
To treat me evil.
In the streets,
You treat me evil.
Then alone and under sheets...
You-are-sweet-full.
Why do you seek,
To treat me evil.
In the streets,
You treat me evil.
Then alone and under sheets...
You-are-sweet-full.
But publicly,
You treat me evil.
People see,
You treat me evil.
Why is it in the streets you seek,
To be evil.
Why is it in the streets you seek,
To be evil.
Why is it in the streets you seek,
To be evil.
To be evil.
Then alone and under sheets...
You-are-sweet-full.
But...
Pub licly you treat me evil.
Publicly you treat me evil.
Publicly you treat me evil.
Treat me evil!
But...
Publicly you treat me evil.
Publicly you treat me evil.
Publicly you treat me evil.
Treat me evil!
TREAT ME EVIL.

Despicable You
I despise the ill-mannered you!
Sensitivity has deemed eluded you
Haven't you heard of common courtesy?
Your earsplitting tone's robbing my sanity.
Words you spill without thinking
Arrogance you flaunt without blinking
My patience you devour
Mirror's mocking your pesky demeanor!
Spare me from your insecurities
Respect begets respect, you see
Now my indifference is vexing you?
Off you bleed, despicable you!

Demeanor
Ups and downs, highs and lows,
that is how my demeanor goes.
And what is it brings this on?
Only the thought of when you're gone.
My life has moved so very fast
and yet not fast enough.
And my demeanor changes just as fast,
sometimes smooth, sometimes rough.
Oh that I could change all this
and never feel these things,
I'd be just as free as a little bird
that learns to spread her wings.
