Before you criticize someone, walk a mile in his shoes. That way, if he gets angry, he'll be a mile away - and barefoot.

The short English miles are delightful for walking. You are always pleased to find, every now and then, in how short a time you have walked a mile, though, no doubt, a mile is everywhere a mile, I walk but a moderate pace, and can accomplish four English miles in an hour.

There was, before me,

There was, before me,
Mile upon mile
Of snow, ice, burning sand.
And yet I could look beyond all this,
To a place of infinite beauty;
And I could see the loveliness of her
Who walked in the shade of the trees.
When I gazed,
All was lost
But this place of beauty and her.
When I gazed,
And in my gazing, desired,
Then came again
Mile upon mile,
Of snow, ice, burning sand.

Walk A Mile In My Shoes

(words & music by joe south)
If I could be you, if you could be me
For just one hour, if we could find a way
To get inside each others mind
If you could see you through my eyes
Instead your own ego I believe youd be
I believe youd be surprised to see
That youve been blind
Walk a mile in my shoes
Just walk a mile in my shoes
Before you abuse, criticize and accuse
Then walk a mile in my shoes
Now if we spend the day
Throwin stones at one another
cause I dont think, cause I dont think
Or wear my hair the same way you do
Well, I may be common people
But Im your brother
And when you strike out
Youre tryin to hurt me
Its hurtin you, lord how mercy
Now there are people on reservations
And out in the ghetto
And brother there, but, for the grace of god
Go you and i,
If I only had wings of a little angel
Dont you know, Id fly
To the top of a mountain
And then Id cry, cry, cry

Friendship Makes A Comeback With A Warm Aside

Fast, warm and the mightiest- gather
Light, sound and matter
Connect in and push out
A friend of nature.

Native Indians, they are so much in wisdom-
‘How will you know
A man [or woman] if you never walked a mile in his [her] moccasins? '
Or nine.

Upfront friends from schooldays
Round and back me out of frays
Knowing two of them
Makes me proud.

She who forgives
A power
most beautiful
And the other, most simply, a being
Who feels real company without-
Jealousy- 'poverty [of] the worst form of violence': Mahatma Gandhi
Shades deeper and colors wide.

Crow and dove
Really pair together
As an old saying from the Indian diaspora goes
To even a crow, a child is golden
A swooping shadow to the gentlest one-
peace marathon messenger
- the dove.
The moon and the sun
Reflection and refraction
All one.

For Them 'That' Goes Unrecognized

Sad are those who sit and criticize.
With nothing to value but a love to despise.

Everything done is for them to undo.
No matter who does it.
Or how it is pursued.

Sad are those who sit and criticize.
With nothing to value but a love to despise.

Self centered with a selfishness.
For them 'that' goes unrecognized.
But for those who see them for who they are...
There is a desire to get away from them.
Quickly when it is noticed.
With wishes to get away from them and far.

Sad are those who sit and criticize.
With nothing to value but a love to despise.

And suffering from unmasked disguises,
From their own sense of failure.

Of Unspoken Women

(10/8/12)

They are known by many names - prostitute
Hookers, ladies of the night, escort services, call girls
But what's in a name! it's a trade name like electrician
Carpenter, plumber, doctor.

First and foremost she is a daughter - has a mother
And may even be a mother.
You may not accept her as a sister, a cousin, or an aunt
But she is still blood.

her ways of thinking and living
May be different from you
But do not criticize unless you've walked
A mile in her shoes.

She may open her legs to all and any man
But there is one thing you must understand.
She is a woman with many needs
And on this men do feed.

She puts to use what GOD has given
And that's how she earns her living.
She knows that these are her tools
For her to survive - and it's one of a kind.

Her tools can be used in so many different ways
Whether she stands, sits, or even lays.
She does the same things that all women do
She even has dreams just like you.

There are many who use their income
From day to day - then there are the ones
Who use a lay- a-way.
They're the ones who think ahead
And 30% goes into the bank instead.

So when their bodies tell them it's time to quit
And to enjoy life
By then they've accumulated a nice slice.

Now I decided to figure it out
What their lives are all about.
Using a very low figure, even thou
It can be much bigger.

If they have ten johns at twenty dollars a pop
Each day for a five day week.
10x 20 = 200 a day times 5 days =1000.00
A week times 4 weeks is 4000.00
At 30% being banked is 1200.00 per month
Times 12 months is $14,400 a year for 20 years
Is $ 288.000 dollars.

This is a low figure, and how many of us can
Retire in twenty years and have saved this amount?

So with this in mind- who are we to criticize.

I Have Crossed the Mile

I have crossed the mile
With patience and perseverance
I have crossed the mile
pushing beyond my limits
hoping against hope.

I have crossed the mile
Like a crawling snail on a parched land,
I have counted every step
and every second to draw me closer
to the end of the line.

I have crossed the mile
Like a sportsman on a race,
I have run without stopping
gasping for my last breath
yet smiling to discover
that I have crossed the mile.

Key:- r:- ray
A:- anita
R: come let me enter in your brain
You know how it goes no pain, no gain
Im a rough young brother, I care about another
I thank my life to my dad and my mother
Searching like a hunter, always into something
You wanna be down? first stop fronting
Please dont speak, pass me the mic
Cause no matter what you say Ill do what I like
A: this is the way I live my life
And theres no need to criticize
This is the way I live my life
And theres no need to criticize
cause I do, do what I like
This is my life and Im satisfied
And I do, do what I like
Its the way I live my life!
R: rumours and lies start from the mouth
People hear little things and they start to shout
You see me on t.v. or a magazine cover
Lose our bonus, move under cover
Living that kind of effect, Im in demanded
I do my thing when I on demanded
You dont even know how I live my life
Dont point your finger cause Ill do what I like
A: this is the way I live my life
And theres no need to criticize

And theres no need to criticize
cause I do, do what I like
This is my life and Im satisfied
And I do, do what I like
Its the way I live my life!

Little Moccasins

Come out, O Little Moccasins, and frolic on the snow!
Come out, O tiny beaded feet, and twinkle in the light!
I'll play the old Red River reel, you used to love it so:
Awake, O Little Moccasins, and dance for me to-night!

Your hair was all a gleamy gold, your eyes a corn-flower blue;
Your cheeks were pink as tinted shells, you stepped light as a fawn;
Your mouth was like a coral bud, with seed pearls peeping through;
As gladdening as Spring you were, as radiant as dawn.

Come out, O Little Moccasins! I'll play so soft and low,
The songs you loved, the old heart-songs that in my mem'ry ring;
O child, I want to hear you now beside the campfire glow!
With all your heart a-throbbing in the simple words you sing.

For there was only you and I, and you were all to me;
And round us were the barren lands, but little did we fear;
Of all God's happy, happy folks the happiest were we. . . .
(Oh, call her, poor old fiddle mine, and maybe she will hear!)

Your mother was a half-breed Cree, but you were white all through;
And I, your father was -- but well, that's neither here nor there;
I only know, my little Queen, that all my world was you,
And now that world can end to-night, and I will never care.

For there's a tiny wooden cross that pricks up through the snow:
(Poor Little Moccasins! you're tired, and so you lie at rest.)
And there's a grey-haired, weary man beside the campfire glow:
(O fiddle mine! the tears to-night are drumming on your breast.)

We criticize mothers for closeness. We criticize fathers for distance. How many of us have expected less from our fathers and appreciated what they gave us more? How many of us always let them off the hook?

Don’t condemn the past

We don’t expect ‘tomorrow’
To criticize ‘today’.
Must we allow ’today’
To criticize ‘yesterday’?
The present has no standing
To condemn the past
