The discoveries of how we can grow and the insights we need to have really come from the inside out. To have genuine empathy, not as a make-nice tool but as an understanding, is essential to the next step.

Understanding Me
Tie me down
And try to take samples for examples
You could never see
Walk on me
But watch where you're stomping
Walk with caution
You couldn't comprehend
Step inside and see
Justify
You could never see my life is
You could never be my life is
You will never try my life is
Understanding me
Understanding me
What do you know about me
Am I alive
Can I see
What's happening around me
Put me down
Without even speaking
Forever thinking
You couldn't understand
Step inside and see
Compromise
You could never see my life is
You could never be my life is
You will never try my life is
Understanding me

Step inside and see

Shadow Of A Man
Mirror mirror upon the wall Im asking you,
Who is the most confused of them all?
Mirror mirror subservient twin screams back
At me you.
You sick flawless mime, I want to break you
Yeah, youre a clever one...
Is this a tool, can I step through, to find
Another plane,
Or just a shadow of a man
A superficial tool, to support the vanity,
Of weak, when you dont love yourself
If lifes as painful on your side, Ill break your
Existence and cut through mine
Youre a clever one
Is this a tool, can I step through, to find
Another plane,
Or just a shadow of a man
Are you my brother, you look like me,
Trapped inside another world my lost twin
A superficial tool, to support the vanity,
Of weak, when you dont love yourself
Mirror upon the wall, am I the reflection
Of you,
Mirror upon the wall, are you staring back
Through
Understanding has no place within my world
On your side
Is this a tool, can I step through, to find
Another plane,
Or just a shadow of a man
Are you my brother, you look like me,
Trapped inside another world my lost twin
Are you a tool, can I step through, to find
Another plane,
Im just a shadow of a man
Just a superficial tool, to support the vanity,
Of weak, when you dont love yourself

Step Inside Love
Step inside love, let me find you a place
Where all the cares of the day
Will be carried away
By the smile on your face
We are together now and forever
Come what may
Step inside love and stay
Step inside love
Step inside love
Step inside love
I want you to stay
You look tired love, let me turn down the light
Come in out of the cold
Rest your head on my shoulder
And love me tonight
I'll always be here if you should need me
Night and day
Step inside love and stay
Step inside love
Step inside love
Step inside love
I want you to stay
When you leave me, say you'll see me again
For I know in my heart
We will not be apart
And I'll miss you till then
We'll be together now and forever

Step Inside
Harrys on the run, hes got good reason
Since he bought a gun, hell never sleep again
Widow sleeps alone, she never shuts her window
Mandy knows whats fun, she just dont know whats right
Come on, step inside
Come on, step inside, dont walk on by
Step inside
Come on, step inside
Sequins on his shirt, stevies up for dancing
Always been a flirt, carol steps in line
History to the bone, memory to the marrow
Old an weary man, treads a travelled road
Come on, step inside
Come on, step inside, dont walk on by
Step inside
Come on, step inside
Standing in the sun, trolling cold maria
A hare krishna drum sounds distantly in time
The blood comes off like grime, in the wash hand basin
Just another crime, reason with her
Step inside
Come on, step inside, donmt walk on by
Step inside
Come on, step inside, dont walk on by
Step inside
Come on, step inside

The Secret Life Of Plants
I cant conceive the nucleus of all
Begins inside a tiny seed
And what we think as insignificant
Provides the purest air we breathe
But who am I to doubt or question the inevitable being
For these are but a few discoveries
We find inside the secret life of plants
A species smaller than the eye can see
Or larger than most living things
And yet we take from it without consent
Our shelter, food, habilment
But who am I to doubt or question the inevitable being
For these are but a few discoveries
Wwe find inside the secret life of plants
But far too many give them in return
A stomp, cut, drown, or burn
As is theyre nothing
But if you ask yourself where would you be
Without them you will find you would not
And some believe antennas are their leaves
That spans beyond our galaxy
Theyve been, they are and probably will be
Who are the mediocrity
But who am I to doubt or question the inevitable being
For these are but a few discoveries
We find inside the secret life of plants
For these are but a few discoveries
We find inside the secret life of plants

Step Inside
(clarke / hicks / nash)
Side, step inside.
You can knock on my door anytime youre passing by
You dont need an invitation, step inside.
Well have tea and crumpets toasted by the fireside.
You dont need an invitation, step inside.
Step inside my doorway. theres no admission fee at all.
If youre in the neighborhood, you only have to call.
Ill be glad to see you, it just cannot be denied.
Its been a long time since I held you, step inside.
Dont tell your mother about me.
Shell only get angry knowing youve come back.
What her heart cant see cant hurt her.
So take my hand and step inside, take my hand and step inside.
Dont tell your mother about me.
You know shell only get angry knowing youve come back.
What her heart cant see cant hurt her.
So take my hand and step inside, take my hand and step inside.
If it gets too late, I have a bed that you can use.
You dont need an invitation
If you feel the inclination
You just call on speculation.
Step inside.
Side, step inside.
Step inside.
Step inside.
Step inside.

Some Feel It Their Duty
To validate someone else's insecurities,
Seems such an injustice...
To bestow on another,
With an approval done of their limitations.
We all have our doubts and fears,
As part of experiencing life.
To grow with the understanding,
That faith kept devoted in pray...
Will remove those uptight feelings.
To leave us feeling alright.
About ourselves and our lives!
However,
Some feel it their duty...
To campaign for empathy and understanding.
And frankly,
No one living their own life...
Has that time to give!

Understanding
It seems like only yesterday
I didn't have a clue
I stood alone not knowin where to turn
Now suddenly I look around
And everything looks new
I don't know why, but I think I'm startin' to learn
They call it understanding
A willingness to grow
I'm finally understanding
There's so much I can know
Until the day you came along
I used to just get lost
I only heard the things I wanted to hear
It always seemed like no one cared
But then you took the time
And now I look and everything seems clear
You've got me understanding
You've really helped me see
I'm finally understanding
It's meant so much to me
You've got me understanding
You're really on my side
You've got me understanding

Acknowledging My Sentiments
I've been too long at this...
Not to know what it is that I am doing.
I make it my business to comprehend.
With a listening done that is focused.
And with an empathy that is felt.
If someone doesn't understand,
Or appreciate my motives...
I am the last one it may dawn upon,
To evoke my own mental commotion.
I'm not devoted to my ego on those terms.
I've been too long at this...
Not to know what it is that I am doing.
I make it my business to comprehend.
With a listening done that is focused.
And with an empathy that is felt.
And acknowledging my sentiments,
Has a lot to do with the exquisite friendship I have...
That I early in life came to face and embrace,
With both truth and honesty.
I'm not devoted to my ego!
However...
There is an understanding given to its limits.

Dont Forget Me
Im an ocean in your bedroom
Make you feel warm
Make you want to re-assume
Now we know it all for sure
Im a dance hall dirty breakbeat
Make the snow fall
Up from underneath your feet
Not alone, Ill be there
Tell me when you want to go
Im a meth lab first rehab
Take it all off
And step inside the running cab
Theres a love that knows the way
Im the rainbow in your jail cell
All the memories of
Everything youve ever smelled
Not alone, Ill be there
Tell me when you want to go
Sideways falling
More will be revealed my friend
Dont forget me
I cant hide it
Come again make me excited
Im an inbred and a pothead
Two legs that you spread
Inside the tool shed
Now we know it all for sure
I could show you
To the free field
Overcome and more
Will always be revealed
Not alone, Ill be there
Tell me when you want to go
Sideways falling
More will be revealed my friend
Dont forget me
I cant hide it
Come again get me excited
Im the bloodstain
On your shirt sleeve
Coming down and more are coming to believe
Now we know it all for sure
Make the hair stand
Up on your arm
Teach you how to dance
Inside the funny farm
Not alone, Ill be there
Tell me when you want to go

Ballet
Waking up on a dance floor
shoes at my feet
won't let me touch base
with the ground
i can feel your hands
offering shelter
to my cheesy heart
telling me
that there's nothing wrong
in this essential core
here.
like a miracle of beauty
morning sparks in
whenever i think of you
a subtle breeze
brushes my eyelids
free from fears
i start to dance
listening to the
magic
melody
of yours
step by step
step by step step by step

(Humility Poem) A Nobody
I am nobody.
I keep telling you this.
Why won't you just listen?
I have no importance.
I have made no great discoveries.
Just trust me.
Let someone else make a stand and lead.
Captain please get me my steed.
A horse of a mighty fine breed indeed.
Fast as she can go we're off to to save the world to be.
I am nobody.
I keep telling you this.
Why won't you just listen?
I have no importance.
I have made no great discoveries.
Sir great knight, you have made so many of such wise decisions.
In the past and present.
Why won't you let us follow you to all of our deaths?
I don't desire to be your mistake.
A choice of whose blood to spill.
It will be only my own, I must do this all alone.
I am nobody.
I keep telling you this.
Why won't you just listen?
I have no importance.
I have made no great discoveries.
Let me teach from afar.
Let me never be your fallen star.
A disgraceful man who's got so little to show for all his hard work.
Please don't ask me If you can plaster me all over your tea shirts.
Idol not a single a human being.
Because no one as a individual is that great.
I am nobody.
I keep telling you this.
Why won't you just listen?
I have no importance.
I have made no great discoveries.
Mistakes will be made by both the cowardly and brave.
How far will you go to get entangled in the web we make.
To say I was part of this mans life.
Even if it was lies in which you created.
A once upon a time he was celebrated.
Now he has become just so jaded.
I am nobody.
I keep telling you this.
Why won't you just listen?
I have no importance.
I have made no great discoveries.

Weekend Superstar
I've worked out on the road
Hammered nails all in a row
I've worked on cars, and I've sold things too
All I need is this pickup truck
A little bit of love
And a whole lot of luck
Come Friday night I know just what to do
I hear a big ole crowd
Screaming loud, bartender says last call
Come on back tomorrow night
I'm sure we'll have a ball
I'm just an ordinary guy all week long
Till I step inside this bar
I'm a genuine, certified, honky tonk till I die
Weekend superstar
When the weekends done and Monday comes
It's back to the same ole grind
I work hard all week for a little bitty check
The government says ain't mine
When the whistle blows
I'll be on my toes, headed back to the bar
I'm a genuine, certified, honky tonk till I die
Weekend superstar
I hear a big ole crowd
Screaming loud, bartender says last call
Come on back tomorrow night
I'm sure we'll have a ball
I'm just an ordinary guy all week long
Till I step inside this bar
I'm a genuine, certified, honky tonk till I die
Weekend superstar

Act Nice & Gentle
You dont need no fancy clothes
Whered you get them, goodness knows?
Just show some civility.
Act nice, act nice and gentle to me.
I dont need no luxuries,
As long as you are understanding,
Im not difficult to please.
Act nice, act nice and gentle to me.
Well Im the kind of guy who likes
To take you as I find you
So throw away those false eyelashes and,
Act nice, act nice, baby.
Come on baby, hold my hand.
Come on baby, understand, you gotta
Act nice, act nice and gentle to me.
Act nice, act nice and gentle to me.
Come on baby, hold my hand.
Come on baby, understand, you gotta
Act nice, act nice and gentle to me.
Act nice, act nice and gentle to me.

I Better Be Good
If I ain't cool
My daddy gonna send me
To Military School
If I ain't nice
My girlie gonna freeze me
With cold shoulder ice
If I'm real late
My teacher gonna use me
For alligator bait
So, I better be good
I better be good
If I jump on the gas
The cops are gonna jump
All over my back
If I smoke too much
Doctor says he's gonna
Put my lungs in a crutch
If I'm caught without my pants
Consuelo's dad is gonna shoot
Until he sees me dance
So, I better be good
I had better be good
You better be nice
You better be nice
You better be nice
You better be nice
Nice, nice, nice - you better be
Nice, nice, nice - you better be
Nice, nice, nice - Uh, uh, uh, uh
Nice, nice, nice
Nice, nice, nice
Nice, nice, nice
You better be nice tonight
If I spray it on the seat
Lady gonna tie a big knot
In the meat
If I spewey too fast
Lover's gonna stick
My Wrangler in a cast
If zipper grabs skin
I'll know I had it out
When I shoulda kept it in
Ow.
I better be good
I better be good
I better be good
Ooh.
You better be nice
You better be nice
You better be nice
You better be nice
Nice, nice, nice - you better be
Nice, nice, nice - you better be
Nice, nice, nice - Uh, uh, uh, uh
Nice, nice, nice
I'd better be nice tonight - yeah
Nice, nice, nice
Nice, nice, nice
Nice, nice, nice
