Self-Mocking

Whenever I self mock
over a compliment I have been given
it is not to insult the person who gave it,
more to injure myself.
I can cope with most things
that are given to me except compliments.
Sound Strange?
When I was growing up many years ago,
I was belittled by family and friends alike.
They made me feel like a misfit,
so a misfit I became.
I endured insults about me
in every way shape and form.
Compliments were never given
and became a stranger to me.
Now that I am older,
I do not stand easy
when compliments are given
and I have to mock myself
and make a parody out of me.
I grew up feeling useless in everything I did.
They did not realise what they were doing
and hurting that they caused. I
t was not jokes they threw at me,
but hurting insults that made me feel insecure.
Now when compliments come
I cannot accept them readily.
I cannot accept that anyone
would want to compliment me,
so I self mock myself you see.

Keep On Growing

I was laughing, playing in the streets,
I was unknowing; I didnt know about things.
Then he came along, but never really showed me,
I thought that love could wait.
I was a young girl. I was sure to go astray.
You walked right into my life and told me
Love would find a way, find a way, yeah.
Gotta keep on growing,
Keep on growing, gotta keep on growing.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
I was standing, looking in the face
Of one who loved me, feeling so ashamed.
Hoping, I pray the lord, that he could understand me,
And I didnt know his name.
He took my hand in his and told me I was wrong.
He said, youre gonna be all right girl,
Oh just as long, just as long...
Gotta keep on growing,
Keep on growing, gotta keep on growing,
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Baby, someday maybe, who knows where or when, lord,
Just you wait and see. let me hold you,
Together hand in hand, alone forever;
cause I want just you and me.
This time is gonna change it all, I know its true;
Our love is gonna keep on growing
And growings all we gotta do, all we gotta do, yeah.
Oh, got to keep on growing,
Gotta keep on growing, gotta keep on growing.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Gotta keep on growing,
Keep on growing, gotta keep on growing.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Gotta keep on growing, gotta keep on growing,
Staring, looking in the face of the one that loved me.
Gotta keep on growing,
Gotta keep on growing, gotta keep on growing, oh yeah,
I was a young girl,
You said love will find a way,
Love will find a way.
Gotta keep on growing...

Sugababes On The Run

Time to turn up the fun yall fun yall
(shake it, shake it, shake it, shake it)
Sugababes on the run yall run yall
(shake it, shake it, shake it shake it)
Time to turn up the fun yall fun yall

They say that Im too young to rave
And my kerf is 12
But I dont wanna stay inside
While they enjoy themselves
My friends are talking
Feel like Im missing out
On what theyre doing
Not much longer
Bounce up and down with my older friends (older friends)
The over 18s where the party never ends
Its not like the ladies have got the problems
So at least 19 they pushing their benz
Never too old can you work and live with that
Young and free and I want it like that
And I aint giving it up
Its hard growing up so fast
Trying hard to make my childhood last forever
All the fellas trying to make a pass
Im still trying to make it last forever
They say that Im too young
To have any boyfriends
But if I was to met someone
Would you stop me
Im aint too young
To understand
You know the game
Im telling you
Bounce up and down with my older friends (older friends)
The over 18s where the party never ends
Its not like the ladies have got the problems
So at least 19 they pushing their benz
Never too old can you work and live with that
Young and free and I want it like that

Keep On Growing

By eric clapton and bobby whitlock
I was laughing,
Playing in the streets, I was unknowing;
I didnt know my fate.
Playing
The game of love, but never really showing;
I thought that love could wait.
I was a young man and sure to go astray.
You walked right into my life and told me love would find a way
To keep on growing, keep on growing, keep on growing.
I was standing,
Looking in the face of one who loved me,
Feeling so ashamed.
Hoping,
And praying, lord, that she could understand me,
But I didnt know her name.
She took my hand in hers and told me I was wrong.
She said, youre gonna be all right boy, oh just as long
As you keep on growing, keep on growing, keep on growing. yeah, yeah, yeah.
Maybe,
Someday baby, who knows where or when, lord,
Just you wait and see.
Well be walking,
Together hand in hand, alone forever;
Woman just you and me.
cause time is gonna change us, lord, and I know its true;
Our love is gonna keep on glowing and growing and its all we gotta do.
Keep on growing, keep on growing, keep on growing. yeah, yeah, yeah.

Sometimes Jacks Rule The Realm

Sometimes jacks rule the realm
Cant you tell
The swimmers drown
Without a sound
A chalkboard scratching sound
Could craze the town
An emperor's clothes
Never be exposed
I took it as a compliment
Regardless what they meant
It could have been innocent
Spent, so spent
Railing against undeserved
Dangling precipitants
Raining down idiots
Always flapping in the
Flapping in the wind
I took it as a compliment
No matter what they meant
Could have been belligerent
Could have been half percent
Could have been wanting
Afraid to have been caught promising
Ended up taunting me
I cant change that
I cant change
I cant change that
I cant change
Im watching you
Not sure whats true
Life can be so cruel
Theres nothing you can do
But it fades...
Only to return
I feel your eyes burn
I really am concerned
Sometimes jacks will rule the realm
Sometimes jealousy will dwell
You cant begin to dispel
When you can not even tell
What makes me act the way I do
And why am I asking you
What makes me act the way I do
And why am I asking you
What makes me act the way I do
And why am I asking you
Sometimes jacks will rule the realm
Sometimes jealousy will dwell
You cant begin to dispel
When you can not even tell
Sometimes jacks will rule the realm
Sometimes jealousy will dwell
You cant begin to dispel
When you can not even tell

Growing Too Fast

I too knew so well,
Exposed scenes young eyes...
Should not see.
To begin a journey with steps to skip,
Right over indulging innocence.

I too felt with empathy,
Much too early and too deep...
With no one there to protect me,
To explain what I would get to know...
I had already known from growing too fast.

Too Young For Love

Too young for love?
Ah, say not so!
Tell reddening rose-buds not to blow
Wait not for spring to pass away,--
Love's summer months begin with May!
Too young for love?
Ah, say not so!
Too young? Too young?
Ah, no! no! no!

Too young for love?
Ah, say not so,
To practise all love learned in May.
June soon will come with lengthened day
While daisies bloom and tulips glow!

Too young for love?
Ah, say not so!
Too young? Too young?
Ah, no! no! no!

Friends With You

What a friend we have in time
Gives us children, makes us wine
Tells us what to take or leave behind
And the gifts of growing old
Are the stories to be told
Of the feelings more precious than gold
Friends I will remember you, think of you
Pray for you
And when another day is through
Ill still be friends with you
Babies days are never long
Mothers laugh is babys song
Gives us all the hope to carry on
Friends I will remember you, think of you
Pray for you
And when another day is through
Ill still be friends with you
Friends I will remember you,
Think of you, pray for you
And when another day is through
Ill still be friends with you
Friends I will remember you,
Think of you, pray for you
And when another day is through
Ill still be friends with you

Young and Old

Those that are young do not understand
what it's like growing old.
How can they know what it feels like?
Their bodies are daring and bold.
The old have experienced so many things
and the young only a few.
The old know the joys of living
that the young wish they knew.

We've watched the foolish mistakes men make
and are weary from these scenes.
The young are consumed with bodily ways
and pop-culture magazines.
We've tasted the agony of defeats
and remember how that feels.
The young are competitive in their days
and content with fast food meals.

The understanding that they will learn
will only come with age.
They will leave behind their carefree days
and too soon approach the stage
of knowing what it's like to be growing old
and learning life takes its toll
on their bodies, their minds and thinking
and in the end, their soul.

Wake For Young Souls

Today I found my soul
I felt it die inside of me yeah
So I turn to you
Life is like we never know
I have your face in a photo in high school
And you were alive
But thats all I had
And I cant remember who I was myself then
And it doesnt help
Still I look to you as a friend
To tell me
Who we are now, who we are
Its who we are now, who we are
Where does time go now on a wake for young souls
You tell me
Its who we are now, who we are
Where does time go now on a wake for young souls
Another lullaby go sing oh ooh oh ooh oh ooh
Well the wind that blows
Its blowing colder
And the child that grows
Shes growing older
And the friends we know
Theyll turn a shoulder
But the friends we know
Theyre growing colder so
Its who we are now, who we are
Its who we are now, who we are
Where does time go now on a wake for young souls
You tell me, who we are now, who we are
Its who we are now, who we are
Whoa no now on a wake for young souls
Na na na na na na...
Cycle of the moon brings blood to the woman
And blood of the woman brings birth of a child
The child grow up
Keep forgetting something
Birth of a child comes someplace while youll
Living great days with the shade of the wind
Unbodied unsouled unheard unseen
On the day of the dead like a song in my head
Hear you speak to me in the shape of a dress say
Treat me natural like a wind that blows
Follow the direction no matter where it goes
So it shall be the earth and the sea
Let the truth blow like a hurricane through me
Oh ooh oh ooh oh ooh oooh...
If Ive been cold, if Ive spoken in anger
Two have been born
Forgive me
No I dont see your mother
Not like before
Though she hasnt forgotten
She doesnt like to be reminded anymore
Then he got married
It didnt come without tears
But the day you died I had laughter for these years
So its who we are now, who we are
Its who we are now, who we are
Where does time go now on a wake for young souls now
Its who we are now, who we are
Its who we are now, who we are
Whoa no now on a wake for young souls
All the things we know
Theyre gonna fall away from me yeah
Like a grain of sand, it slips through a good friends hand

In Deep Thought

In deep thought
as I walk
The world passes me by,
Then suddenly in a wink
I sit down and begin to cry.
To all my friends whom I said goodbye.

In deep thought
As I think,
Memories begin to appear.
Of all my friends
Whom I said goodbye
But suddenly, they now are here.
As life came easy,
Death came hard,
As it's faith last played card.
But then I smile
For friends do die
But their dreams die so hard.

In deep verse
As I speak,
The words they leave my mouth,
Of the memories that I thought
Formed into a cloud,
Shaped into a child.
They sit at my feet
And wisper in my ear
The secrets of being young.
But thern I smile
For their secrets are known
As my life becomes undone.

In deep stress
I finally confess
Of secrets I once had held,
I open up their door
That has been locked before
Being as deep as a wishing well.
They come to the surface
And they clear my mind
My brain now knows no crime.
But only that, of being alive.

In deep wonder as I sit
I begin to think and reflect
For people do die
And children do cry
But their dreams will always live.
And hopes they'll always give,
In deep thought, as I think.

Everyone Is Growing Older

Between warring Countries hostilities do not last
And 'tis true your friend of tomorrow may be your foe of the past
But life goes on as usual that's how it seems to be
And we make friends with the old foe to fight our new common enemy
And everyone grows older but few grow wise and gray
For we still glorify the folly of war in the World of today
And we find things in common when we have a common foe
But as we do grow older few of us do wiser grow,
We celebrate war heroes to die in war is not seen as a sin
And when one war it is over another war begin
To use the name of God in war seems hypocritical that would seem fair to say
And to Moses fifth commandment respect we never pay
Crimes of hate and xenophobia sad to say are on the rise
And everyone is growing older but so few are growing wise.

Another Day

What seems like such a winter's tale
Lightening runs through the fallen flames
By kneeling down we're here to pray
At that point forsaken unafraid
I only wanna feel you being strong
I only wanna feel you being strong
Call me up and let's begin
Call me up and let's begin
Another day
Call me up and let's begin
Call me up and let's begin
You done that to me
Feel my breath go cold and calm
My pride is last and I sin again
And all the seasons change their scent
A year of hell they come against my head once more
I only wanna feel you being strong
I only wanna feel you being strong
Call me up and let's begin
Call me up and let's begin
Another day
Call me up and let's begin
Call me up and let's begin
You done that to me
INSTRUMENTAL
Call me up and let's begin
Call me up and let's begin
