Self-Mocking

Whenever I self mock
over a compliment I have been given
it is not to insult the person who gave it,
more to injure myself.
I can cope with most things
that are given to me except compliments.
Sound Strange?
When I was growing up many years ago,
I was belittled by family and friends alike.
They made me feel like a misfit,
so a misfit I became.
I endured insults about me
in every way shape and form.
Compliments were never given
and became a stranger to me.
Now that I am older,
I do not stand easy
when compliments are given
and I have to mock myself
and make a parody out of me.
I grew up feeling useless in everything I did.
They did not realise what they were doing
and hurting that they caused. I
t was not jokes they threw at me,
but hurting insults that made me feel insecure.
Now when compliments come
I cannot accept them readily.
I cannot accept that anyone
would want to compliment me,
so I self mock myself you see.

Insult!
How do you feel when a man insults you oh woman?
Insult!
How do you feel when your wife insults you?
Insult!
How do you feel when your husband insults you?
Insult!
How do you feel when a child insults you?
Insult upon injury! !
But the jury is here at last to stay on this case.

Unintending To Be Perceived As Offensive

I accept with appreciation,
Compliments from others.
Who become aware of my attempts.

Sometimes I wish,
I could express more enthusiasm.
To show such thankfulness for such gifts.

And this I've done for many years in my routines.
With a doing done I do,
In a process that of my creation sees.

I accept with appreciation,
Compliments from others.
Who become aware of my attempts.

Sometimes I wish,
I could express more enthusiasm.
To show such thankfulness for such gifts.

And I do say, 'Thank you.'
Since I am grateful for the attention my gifts get.
Although I consider myself an 'elf' sometimes,
Just doing my part as God's work in progress.

With a doing at times God knows,
Can be a bit mischievous with a willingness unintending.
To be perceived as offensive when that deed I do gets done.

You are wise enough

I say to you that I love your poems
Because I can’t say that I love you.
I say to you that you have a kind heart
Because I can’t say you are my sweetheart.
You are nice to accept my compliments;
I’m encouraged by your supplements.
You must be wise enough to decode my words.
With this faith, I enjoy your company.

Is He A Hero Or Just Another Villain?

Compliments aside.
I know you see your self as the hero.
All narcissist do in their own little fairy tales..
Somebody's got be the villain.
Let that be me.

Let me signal your defeat.
When the angels come marching in.
They will ask me what is it you think you have done?

It was just.
It was just.

My heart is not bleeding no not for him.
He was a lier destroying our entire society.
He was a cheat stealing our souls one at a time.
Good intentions gone awry.
As blood continues to forsaken the sky.
Seeing through the all seeing eye.
Trying to keep my head held up high.
A clout in the form of a disguise.
The ultimate sacrifice, with the ultimate backlash.

Compliments aside.
I know you see your self as the hero.
All narcissist do in their own little fairy tales..
Somebody's got be villain.
Let that be me.

Let me signal your defeat.
When the angels come marching in.
They will ask me what is it you think you have done?

It was just
It was just.

It was just.
It was just.

Forever stuck in the moral obligation of self justification.
A world where no jury or judge presides.
Not of your peers but for your peers.
A vigilante of the criminal sort.
When it comes to a last resort.
Tell me are you one that can pull that trigger?
Daggers forever invading the mind.
The bomb is still being primed.
Their's a fight going on for complete control over this world.
Tell me have you yet picked a side?

Compliments aside.
I know you see your self as the hero.
All narcissist do in their own little fairy tales..
Somebody's got be villain.
Let that be me.

Let me signal your defeat.
When the angels come marching in.
They will ask me what is it you think you have done?

It was just
It was just.

It was just.
It was just.

Now watch the walls crumble.
The shape shifters are pedaling ever nearer
No where to run now.
A new crown on your head is placed.
Hold it in disgrace
Drink the blood of your fellow man.

Yes you killed him.
Yes you killed him.

But it was just.

The words here are placed forever to stay.

But it was just.

Compliments aside.
I know you see your self as the hero.
All narcissist do in their own little fairy tales..
Somebody's got be villain.
Let that be me.

Let me signal your defeat.
When the angels come marching in.
They will ask me what is it you think you have done?

It was just
It was just.

Why can't you see it was just?

Unique, Eccentric Things

Women over age forty complain they are invisible
to men, must appear young and lie about age for
attention - this problem does not exist for people
like me who never caught the male eye because
we never appealed by attending to them

It is hard work to idealise anyone and the loss of
cheap admiration seems to be an advantage as
fake charm to exploit a dame never held interest,
older women should rejoice that they are free
from false compliments courting their favour

Women who complain about this benefit must
have been used to wolf-whistles; since my pre-
occupations kept me safe from such practices
I don’t suffer losing superficial meaningless
things - I have little sympathy with

Feminine types who live for compliments, yet
I appreciate the variety they add to life; never
want individual ideas to be lost; I love unique,
eccentric things for the interesting contrast
they always provide through their being

Atheism Compliments God

Since God does not exist,
He could not create the world,
Said the atheist.

Then who created it?
The poet asked.

Well, the world just came into being
By itself, she replied.

Well, in that case
This is indeed a great compliment
For God, the poet said.

She gave him a surprised look.
And why is that? She asked.

Imagine that a book, for example,
Could write itself without the author,
Would not be it a fantastic miracle?

Yes, indeed, she agreed.

So, a self-creating universe,
The poet said, would even be
An immeasurably greater
And miraculous accomplishment,
The utmost manifestation
Of the Glory of God.

Therefore, paradoxically, atheism
Unwillingly but compliments God.

Little Miss Fit

Theres a good theres a bad
Some are gay, some are sad
Theres a right, theres a wrong
Those who fit dont belong
Well Im the bad
And Ive got to admit
That Im sad
Im a little misfit
Im in the wrong
And thats the truth of it
I dont belong
Im a little misfit
Theres the sun theres the rain
Those in love those in pain
Some succeed while others fail
Some will ease someone tells
Well Im in the rain
And Ive got to admit
That I gonna pay
Im a little misfit
Though Ive failed
Thats the truth of it
See me tell
Im a little misfit
Lifes so hard when youre far from everything
Lifes so cold when you know you have no friends
Well Ive lost
And Ive got to admit
That Ive paid the cost
Im a little misfit
I still grow
And thats the truth of it
Ill always fall
Im a little misfit
Well Im bad
And Ive got to admit
That Im sad
Im a little misfit
Well Im bad
And thats the truth of it
That makes me sad
Im a little misfit
Well Im lost
And Ive got to admit
That Ive paid the cost
Im a little misfit
Im so poor

Hurting A Girl Like Me

You hurt me once,
Never ever again
I was blind once
Believing everything you told me
You are like everybody else

I am closing my heart out for sure
Now nobody comes in and nobody comes out
I will not get hurt
Especially by you
I am sorry it came down to this
But that's how I feel
And the feeling will never go away

Thanks to you
You must feel really proud of yourself
Hurting a girl like me
I am going to miss the happy moments
But they are now clouded with the pain you have caused for me

I didn't want this to happen
You caused this
All by yourself
I bet you feel like a big boy now
Hurting a girl like me

So how did it feel
To hurt a girl like me
Do you ever think about it
About the pain you caused me
Do you have problems sleeping at night
Or do you sleep like a baby that you are

My heart can't have anymore heartaches
I am shutting it down for sure
You can't get back in
I must admit
You caught me off gaurd
And I repayed with your news
Thinking about how it would feel
To hurt a girl like me is so unshameful

Do you ever have regrets
About hurting a girl like me
Do you ever think about
The look on my face
When you broke my heart
I can't get your grin
Off my mind
When you told me it was over
So there you go
Hurting a girl like me

From the most modest

Oxford & Sahithyan,
Twin compliments,
That you threw on me.
A hard-to-come one,
They are the only pearls
That I like to wear as jewels,
Having bequeathed
The rest of my all.
This has come from the most modest.

William Butler Yeats

At The Abbey Theatre

DEAR Craoibhin Aoibhin, look into our case.
When we are high and airy hundreds say
That if we hold that flight they'll leave the place,
While those same hundreds mock another day
Because we have made our art of common things,
So bitterly, you'd dream they longed to look
All their lives through into some drift of wings.
You've dandled them and fed them from the book
And know them to the bone; impart to us --
We'll keep the secret -- a new trick to please.
Is there a bridle for this Proteus
That turns and changes like his draughty seas?
Or is there none, most popular of men,
But when they mock us, that we mock again?

One Compliments The Other

ONE COMPLIMENTS THE OTHER

Day light makes darkness disappear
While darkness makes light shine brighter
Raindrops decorate the skies with rainbow
While sunlight makes raindrops glow

One compliments the other with truth
For those who seek with faith
The heart and soul of divine
That’s seen in darkness and sunshine

Daylight brings feelings of hope of assurance
While darkness brings feelings of endurance
Raindrops satisfies the feelings of thirst
While sunshine brings feelings for conquest

Compliments and Consolations

Accept your happiness,
It is your inheritance of divinity
For your god-like arrival
On the human scene.
The universe loves you
As if you were a resident of Mt. Olympus.
Live each day like a stroll through a spring park
Where every flower petal waves to you
Wafting the perfume of hope.
Secret voices are waiting to offer you
Compliments and consolations
When you need them most.
