Thoughts To Ponder # 2
I run the race
with wish to win
against the best
Many have character
others show power
I rely on humility
Character breaks when provoked
while power fails when over ruled
but humility stands against all odds
At the end of obstacles
true humility will prevail
as character and power fail

Christmas turns everything upside down. This is the central truth of the incarnation — "Immanuel, God with us." The upside of heaven come down to earth. "The Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, and we beheld his glory, . . . full of grace and truth." Men miss the entire meaning of Jesus when they see in him the highest upreach of man; he is God reaching down and making common cause with man's struggle. The meaning of Christmas puts down the mighty things in men's minds from their seats — place, riches, talents — and exalts the things of low degree — humility, simplicity, and trust.

A Search For Humility
Humility is a place where men of
all color and religion can meet in
the spirit of peace and love.
Humility is a place where brother embraces
brother where the common bond, is the
common goal.
Is there any such place as humility? Yes.
However, one has to first find it within
themselves, least they not recognize it,
when they come upon it.
The rivals beaten
When a man wins the heart of a woman,
What exalts him to a great ecstasy
Is that he’s beaten other men in the race
Rather than that he got her as a prize.

Humility is to make a right estimate of one's self; it is no humility for a man to think less of himself than he ought, though it might rather puzzle him to do that.

The first test of a truly great man is his humility. By humility I don't mean doubt of his powers or hesitation in speaking his opinion, but merely an understanding of the relationship of what he can say and what he can do.

To The Same (Amanda) With A Copy Of The 'Seasons
Accept, loved Nymph, this tribute due
To tender friendship, love, and you:
But with it take what breathed the whole.
O take to thine the poet's soul.
If Fancy here her power displays,
And if a heart exalts these lays-
You, fairest, in that fancy shine,
And all that heart is fondly thine.

Strangely
i (kept to) keep looking at the dark clouds
hoping to see the rainbow
at least to get a peace of mind
to cleanse my heart with the morning sun when it rises
walking these few metres
one foot in front of the other
as i paced on with life; could not bother
about the unknown saga
because nobody is there; not even a brother
to leadeth me on this one such journey,
no wonder....
i (kept to) keep staring at the dark clouds
in awe
hoping to see the rainbow
at least to get a peace of mind
to cleanse my heart by the sunset
strangely, a sunset boulevard....
no?
yes?
no...
but strangely amazing like dem draw the card.

Pride and humility
Pride is the trademark of ego.
Pride erects ego to be broke.
Humility is the spirit's root.
Humility vanquishes the pride.

It Was The Worst That Life Could Do
(after Charles Dickens)
It was the worst that life could do
and yet the best came from it too
when life was one huge struggle
but in all of this I again found you.
Like children we were again in love
as in some strange foolishness
but strangely our lives fitted perfectly like a glove
and wisdom from the years was in our consciousness
and the sure belief in each other’s sincerity,
a strange incredulity in the though that love fails
and in great humility
we found light to all the details
of that which is great about one another
while darkness fell on that which had shattered us
and despair and fear did not really anymore bother
while hope was in every thing that we did discuss.

Sonnet III (To the Virgin Mary)
Unequalled Virgin, the second ornament
Of the human race, whose dignity has not diminished
Her humility, nor has humility lessened her generosity of heart,
O rare Mother of her own Creator!
You have crushed the head of the serpent whose venom
Has poisoned the entire world.
You assumed your place in Heaven above the angels' choir
And there, glorified, you partake of eternal joy.
For our souls you are like a moon
Which reflects the rays of eternal
Charity, as our grievous sinfulness
Descends on us like a night's dark shadow.
Lead us to the morning dawn
And show us the light of your Sun which we all desire.

Let Only Love Avail
I never had a chance to thank you for what adoration
You did show me, because I was too busy with sorow
For how it was that you chose to leave, which belied the devotion
That you professed; I never thought it would all be gone 'tomorrow',
Nor did I believe you would choose to punish me for my honesty.
If I could only share with you my faith of heart and strength of mind,
I know that you could find the requisite strength, in kind,
To allow us a new beginning, where we could leave the past behind,
Where it truly belongs, instead of carrying that travesty
Into the present, and with you as you ponder what may be.
I chose to leave it behind me, and I hope you will too.
'What is past is prologue'* surely, but if I only knew
What your reaction would have been to my unbridled honesty,
I may have had to make part with your company on my own,
Because then, I most assuredly would have known
That, while I proffered only verity, you lived a lie.
I learned so much from my travails, but may never know why
Someone with such a capacity for both love and aspiration,
Would choose to kill all she wants for herself-over fallacy!
What a shameful ruse of gross self-inconsideracy
You played upon yourself all that time, -exasperation
Does not even begin to gather all the emotion
That I feel when I think of what you have done to both of us.
How can you even trust yourself? Never mind what trust
You lost with me, when you decided to cower from your own dreams!
The soul exalts with joy, from what the humble heart redeems:
Fear may have been your nemesis, but humility can be your redemption.
Some things are unforgiveable, but true love grants an exemption
For the sake of its own betterment-it seeks only its own counterpoint.
Surely, Heavenly Father would not falsely anoint
Each one of us as the same for each if He thought we would fail.
Live your life as you would choose and let only love avail.

A thought from Isaac of Nineveh
Isn’t it extraordinary – when
you come to think of it – that
the One whom atheists deny
(for then they would have to acknowledge
One greater than themselves…)
knew, knows, about humility…?
I mean, how could He?
Suppose, He hadn’t sent
such men as Jesus Christ
to show us that humility
was, is, godly, and indeed,
a path to know that One?
Would we then be treating
the humble as the self-victimising
scum of the earth? And we, assured in being
proud and arrogant?
What else could that One
know of contraries and opposites,
paradox and contradiction,
unless He (or She, or It)
knows all; knows us
better than we know ourselves?
