Myself with you.
You cannot stop this engine
From running
Fed as it is with the nuclear energy
Of self-determination
You cannot block this again with
Any call for kindness your face of sobriety & propriety
Sustained as it is with the pride
Of its sufficiency, this engine of life
Away from human drama this engine
Of love and belief of self
Plunges into an eternal destination
Or damnation, or whatever
This engine must go, on and on
Unstoppable unconquered unhindered
This engine I call
Myself with you.

Eight Cylinder Wings (Ethere)
You
bent down,
leaned into
the car and kissed
my trembling lips.
'Just in case you had doubts, '
you said; and I couldn't breathe.
I watched you walk back to your car,
a gray bird with eight cylinder wings;
and I revved up my engine to follow.

The Three Cylinder Car That could
What Is A Car
Is It Friend Or Foe?
Depends How It Runs
How Fast It Can Go.
Up And Down The Mountain
Passing Sports Cars And Sedans
It’s Just A Three Cylinder
But, Burns Rubber On Command.
Love And Hate Relationships
Between Owners And Their Cars
One Day They Run Well
The Next, Can’t Burn Tar.
One Thing I Have
Fancy Car Drivers Yearn For
Is The Title I Hold
For My Three Cylinder Car.

The Engine that Keeps Us Running
At the end of the sidewalk
There is a turn
Near the end of the road
There is an exit
Our engines run together
Never turning separately
But in union
And together
We never exit the road we travel
The love we have for one another
Is our engine
An engine that no one can duplicate
That no one can force into exit
That no one can expire
Together
Our fuel never runs out
We are champions of a mass race
Apart
The coolant cannot cool
The steering wheel cannot steer
The wheels cannot turn
The oil starts to leak
And our engine cannot breathe
Until our engines fall apart
And we cannot race together anymore
Into the heavens we will be
Our engines will be known
For their ability to run together
In union
Through all our life
And others will wonder
How, through so many glitches
We have still made it
And we have managed to fix all errors
And others will wonder
How we kept each other running
Through many engine stalls
And through so many leaks
People will wonder
How we always managed to patch those leaks
And with every spark
We have always started up again
Our engines
Are infamous
Are great
Cannot be copied
Cannot be managed by anyone
But ourselves
Without your engine
My engine would be stalled
With a little spark
We are back in the race
The never ending race
That will only keep us side by side
Until the end of our engine life days

The Korean War has also show quite clearly that in a major conflict manpower is as important as horsepower.

Mr. engineer, slow the engine down some more.
Youre movin just a little too fast,
Ive got my foot down clear to the floor.
Steam engine, engine 99
Steam drivers, rollin right on by.
Mr. engineer, you see Ive got a little problem here.
My baby, shes aboard your train,
She says shes never comin back again.
Steam engine, engine 99
Steam drivers, rollin right on by.
She told me good bye, she said Im leavin you behind.
I think Im gonna die, if I hear that whistle whine.
Mr. engineer, slow the engine down some more.
Youre movin movin just a little too fast,
Ive got my foot down clear to the floor.
Steam engine, engine 99
Steam drivers, rollin right on by.

Ghosts Inside The Engine Of My Car
There are ghosts inside of the engine of my car
And while I am driving my car
I hear some funny noises that the engine of my car is making

That Time You Wish To Take From Me Has Come Too Late
If you've noticed it,
You are the one 'hanging-in-there' convinced...
That things take time and it is never too late,
For situations to change if one remains patient.
Those portrayals seem to work only in two hour movies.
First of all,
You and I need not to argue over 'your' philosophy.
None of what you believe works for me.
I am not going to volunteer to hang anywhere.
Or enforce a mood swing to shift upon myself to do it.
I am interested in you.
However...
Do not think I am going to decrease the horsepower,
In my engine...
Because I will not listen to your suggestions,
About how I drive in the direction I have taken.
If you don't wish to ride just tell me.
But decreasing my speed to make you happy...
Is not going to be a focus in my mind to allow to happen.
Chill with those conditioned repetitions!
No bush do I beat to see turn into a rose.
You want to jump off here?
Because you are not going to remain agitating my nerves.
That time you wish to take from me has come too late.
And I don't need to see a flashing neon stop sign,
To have that in my mind to caution.
Since the action has been witnessed as a fact proven.
Do you mind unstrapping and jumping off here!
I would suggest it since my ejection seat malfunctions.
I don't want you to think of me as being rude or abusive.
I've got places to go, people to see and things to get done to do.

Early Morning Snore
It starts of just before four am
with a put, put, put of an old Volkswagen,
and then descended into
a motorcycle engine on idle
with a tick-a-tick-a-tick
before revving up a notch
into an motorcycles engines roar.
Hence, my other half was at it again
with her early morning snore.
Like everyone, she denies that she ever snores.
Each morning like a regular alarm clock,
she starts her snoring engine
and I quickly vacate the bed,
it is my only escape to peace,
away from a motorcycle engine
roaring inches from my head.
One day I got out my portable Dictaphone
and started recording her,
when I played it back
she said I had recorded out in the street somewhere.
Now I am an early riser,
and who wouldn’t be
with a motorcycle engine roaring
just inches away from your ear.

Fast Car
Like the car he drives,
He will pass you in the fast lane of life,
Like the blaring music from his car,
He loves life and a good joke,
Like the roaring engine of his car,
His temper will take off like a racer to the finish line,
With his fast car he ran straight through everyones heart,
When his engine went he went along with his fast car to heaven,
Going fast as he could down the road of eternal sleep,
While he lies in his eternal sleep never to wake his fast
car lies with him!

Auctioneer
She didn't want to get pinned down by her prior town
Get me to the train on time, here take this nickel make a dime
Take this penny and make it into a necklace when I leave
What is at the other end, I don't know another friend
Another wife, another morning spent
Listen, listen to the auctioneer
Another engine, another engine
We never wrote the reasons that I need explained
Some things are givens, and others get away
This time its for myself you call it what you may
Okay, we won't say goodbye so long, so much more
Listen to the auctioneer
Another engine, another engine
Listen to the bargain holler
Listen to the barter holler
Listen to the auctioneer
Get me to the train on time here take this nickel make a dime
Take this penny and make it into a necklace when I leave
What is at the other end, an I don't know another friend
Another wife, another morning spent
Listen to the auctioneer
Another engine, another engine
Do I stand the bargain holler?
Listen to the barter holler
Listen to the auctioneer

Bad Brakes
Bad brakes whole car shakes
Looks like Im heading for a breakdown
Black smoke engine beginning to choke
I must be heading for a breakdown
I pulled up for a mouth of coca-cola
Down at samuels cafe
Saw a little spanish lady coming over
Said lady are you going my way she said o-lay
Bad brakes carburettor shakes
Looks like youre heading for a breakdown
Black smoke engine beginning to choke
We must be heading for a breakdown
We hit the road at 90 miles an hour
Heading for frisco bay
She said senor you got cop on your shoulder
I said oh now wed better not stay
We got to get away with our
Bad brakes carburettor shakes
Looks like were heading for a breakdown
He was catching up nose right inside our mirror
When the motor blowed
We climbed out and she began to shiver
Oh no sir please let us go
He said dont you know you got
Bad brakes carburettor shakes
Looks like you bought yourself a breakdown
Black smoke engine beginning to choke
And youve got yourself a breakdown
Bad brakes engine beginning to shake
Looks like weve got ourselves a breakdown
Black smoke engine beginning to choke
We got ourselves a breakdown

Going Home
When I was a student
I came through the rain,
with storms whipping the Cape
right through the Karoo
into Gauteng
flooding rivers
and blocking mountain passes
with land slides.
Avoiding fallen rocks and creeping
at sixty kilometres an hour
on the N1 till Worchester
on a road
that had only one lane open,
I passed the police
who were closing the freeway.
For fifteen hundred kilometres
the road was soaking wet
and my BMW’s four headlights glared
at any other vehicle that I met
and the ABS-brakes,
the six-cylinder engine
and power steering
did their fare share
to keep me on the road.
Every now and then
I had to stop to get fuel,
checked the oil,
checked the air pressure,
visited the washing room
and Coca Cola kept me awake
right through a soaking night
while I was on my way home
to sunny Pretoria.
I came to the house
in a early dawn,
was greeted by the dog
crying from joy
and wagging its tail,
got a huge plate
of sausage, putu porridge
with tomato gravy
and fried eggs
and coffee from my mother,
went to bed
and slept as if I were dead
right into the next day.

Engine Of The Soul
Build me an engine -lady of my dream,
Let it be powered by eternal steam.
May patience be your tool of design,
Planning completeness with a cunning mind.
To drive the pistons of a soul's production,
We need fire with extreme combustion.
This fire from the fervor of powerful prayer
Will create the steam with warmth to spare.
The engine comes to life with a blast and a toot,
And begins to harvest the spiritual fruit.
Run on my soul, with speed aplenty;
For the harvest is rich and the prayers are many.

In My View
single engine airplane
across a sunny sky
brings memories as a kid
on my back watching them fly
this feeling invoked
makes me think of you
the connection makes no sense
no logical lines I can draw to
this was a past time spent alone
a moment of rest while running home
the engine's sound still reminds me
of years ago and the fields of green

So why not be nice to an old engine driver?
Better be nice to an old engine driver

I cant believe it
Do my eyes deceive me?
Am I back in your arms?
Away from all harm?
Its like a dream to be with you again
Cant believe that Im with you again
I missed you and I must admit
I kissed a few and once did sit
On ivor the engine drivers lap
And later with him, had a nap
You are forgiven, you are forgiven, you are forgiven ... (ad lib)
You are forgiven

Put Your Boots On
If truth and reality had been the driving force,
That powered this weakened engine...
It would had all focused to remain on course.
And none of what now is offered...
To soften and buffer the suffering,
Would exist.
There would be diligence on the lookout.
Instead of self serving selfishness...
Stuffing pockets.
While passengers were being pilfered,
By an overglamorized hype...
About a quality of life.
Stolen right in their sight!
As those self righteous,
Took a hike!
Folks...
Here's the deal.
That engine is,
And has been crusting to rust for years.
Dry your tears,
My friends.
That engine you've depended on,
For the ride of your life...
Has died.
The ease of your journey has glided to a stop.
Put your boots on!
If you dare to look from your windows,
You'll be shakened.
The depression has progressed,
From a recession recently professed.
Yes!
Put your boots on.
There will be lots of BS...
To walk through,
To get to the next destination.
Bring your medications,
And prepare to numb your senses.
Yes!
Put your boots on folks.
And get ready to abandon those freedoms,
To do as you wish.
Or lower this reality on your priority list.
Put your boots on!
The engineer now in command...
Demands on hands on deck!
Be ready to wipe sweat,
Off Botoxed brows and tightened necks.
The heat from the cleanup,
Is about to be felt!
Put your boots on!
Your shopping until you dropp days,
Are done!
