Then I started listenin' a lot to classical composers. Piano works. Just to see what they were doin'. That sort of put me in a different groove to try to blend all that in.

Physicists are more like avant-garde composers, willing to bend traditional rules... Mathematicians are more like classical composers.

Watcha Doin' To Me (8 Track Demo)
Oh, love and affection rule
My heart is in the groove
Whatcha doin
Whatcha doin to me, yeah
Oh, I'm searching for the truth
Your missing attitude
Whatcha doin
Whatcha doin to me, yeah
Each time I see you smile
I hear the call of the wild
There's something in your eyes
The way you move I'm mystified
I know how I feel when I see you
I'm not so sure if it's bad or good
Right-side up is upside-down
Oh...oh, Whatcha doin to me
It's always in the touch
Sometimes a spark is not enough
Don't question me, Oh no
I need some grace from above
There's no place to run and hide
I see you, you're a perfect view
Cross myself as I cross the line
Oh...oh, Whatcha doin to me
Oh...woh...oh...yeah...Woh...oh...Yeah
I'm searching for the truth
Your missing attitude
Love and affection rule, yeah
Our heart is in the groove
A spark is not enough
It's always in, it's always in the touch
Whatcha doin to me.....

Oddly, when I started to make the record, I wasn't aware I was making a record. I just was sort of disgusted with the whole thing and sequestered myself in the basement and started playing the piano just for something to do.

I tend to listen to the classical composers: Rachmaninov, Satie.
Personally, I think young musicians need to learn to play more than one style. Jazz can only enhance the classical side, and classical can only enhance the jazz. I started out playing classical, because you have to have that as a foundation.

I've got a collection of songs that I've had, I keep adding to and they're all great American composers. I wanted to showcase American composers and I've done that on a lot of my records and played things by American composers that I really respect.

Well I like everything but my first love has always been piano because when I started out there was a piano in my house and it was there so I just started tinkling on it really so it's always been my first love.

I started formal piano training when I was 4. From there I had little violas, and I had dancing lessons of every sort and description, and painting lessons. I had German. And shorthand.

Doin' The Things That We Want To
The other night we went to see Sam's play
doin' the things that we want to
It was very physical it held you to the stage
doin' the things that he wants to
Doin' the things that he wants to
The guy's a cowboy from some rodeo
doin' the things that he wants to
The girl had once loved him, but now she want to go
doin' the things that she wants to
Doin' the things that she wants to
The man was bullish, the woman was a tease
doin' the things that they want to
They fought with their words, their bodies and their deeds
doin' the things that they want to
When they finished fighting, they exited the stage
doin' the things that they want to
I was firmly struck by the way they had behaved
doin' the things that they want to
Doin' the things that they want to
hey
It reminds me of the movies Marty made about New York
(doin' the things that he wants to)
Those frank and brutal movies that are so brilliant
(doin' the things that he wants to)
";True Love"; meet ";The Raging Bull";
(doin' the things that he wants to)
They're very inspirational, I love the things they do
(doin' the things that he wants to)
Doin' the things that I want to
There's not much you hear on the radio today
(doin' the things that we want to)
But you could still see a movie or a play
(doin' the things that we want to)
Here's to ";Travis Bickle"; and here's ";Johnny Boy";

What Do You Want Me To Do?
I tried to do the things in my own way
I tried to do what people say
but I was going nowhere fast
And now I'm turning to you at last
(1) What do you want me to do
What so you want me to do
What do you want me to do, Lord
I can see the lights of home
But I can't get there on my own
I can see the landing strip
But I need you to guide my ship
[Repeat (1)]
I've been a fool and I've been a clown
I've let the enemy turn me around
I've wasted love and I've wasted time
I've been proud and I've been blind
There's such a lot of things to change
A whole world to arrange
And if you show me how
I'll begin right now
[Repeat (1)]
What do you want me to do, Lord
What do you want me to do, Lord
"Cause I'm listenin'
I'm listenin'
Lord, I'm listenin'
I'm listenin'

Groove With You
Groove With You
Isley Brothers
Oh, Ive been thinking of you
and youve been thinking of me.
Oh, Ill give all that I have
If youll give all that I need.
And oh, oh, oh, lets be fair.
And I think its time we cleared the air.
Ive been watching you, youve been watching me.
You know Ive been wantin to groove with you.
Girl, speak your mind.
Groove with you.
You been thinking all of this time.
Groove with you.
Aw baby what I wouldnt do.
Groove with you.
Just spending my days with you.
Oh, love is all in your eyes,
love fire is burning for me.
You stay all in my mind.
Oh woman, its easy to see.
Oh, lets be fair
You know its time we cleared the air
Youve been watching me, Ive been watching you.
You know, you know,
Groove with you.
Oh I want a groove, I want a groove
Groove with you.
Ive been thinking, youve been thinking, thinking of me.
Groove with you.
Oh what I wouldnt do to groove with you.
Groove with you.
Youve been watching, I been wathcing watching you
Groove with you
And every chance I get, from the first time we meet
I want a groove with you.
