Left to themselves, things tend to go from bad to worse. Murphy's First Corollary If you tell the boss you were late for work because you had a flat tire, the next morning you will have a flat tire.

Being Insensitive
You said to me 'if' I rode my bicycle,
I may or MAY NOT get a flat tire.
Well...
Mister President,
I 'did' get that flat.
And I'd like to know...
What you intend to do about it?
'I understand the gravity of your concern.
I can either take the bicycle back.
Which this administration purchased,
At no cost to you at all.
Or...
You can fix the flat tire yourself,
Creating a minor inconvenience.
To get back and forth from A to B.
Opposed to hitchhiking,
Or taking your time to walk.
Getting both exercise...
And obtaining a more healthier outlook on life.'
But Mister President,
Don't you think your response is a bit insensitive?
'Perhaps you are right.
I should have been more direct,
And called you an imbecile for your attempts...
To accuse and blame me for your recklessness.
Sit down fool.
Now...
That's being insensitive!

Trapped and Needing Air
Slow to wake up!
Too slow,
To awaken to what has been real.
Don't expect me to freeze in place.
Awaiting for you to embrace life,
As it is!
It is to be lived.
Not turned into a quiz...
You just can't get and figure out.
And your pouting is not admired.
It's like a flat tire needing air!
You are just not there!
Slow to wake up!
No one's got time on hold.
To benefit them...
And/or their whims.
When for them time will begin again.
Show or no show folks...
Who poke along,
And make joke of it.
Putting off 'the now'
To live a yesterday today...
Should be left on steps where they sit!
Or wave to them through a window!
Don't stop to visit.
They seek someone to twist into a fit!
Many know such folks,
Who complain about their sorrows.
And they will drain someone's patience.
To stall tomorrow's anticipated taste.
And squeeze the sweet,
To share their bitterness...
With anyone they meet.
It is to be lived.
This life!
Not turned into a quiz...
You just can't get or figure out,
The wrong from right!
And your pouting is not admired.
It's like a flat tire needing air!
You are just not there...
With determination focused.
But despair you love to wear.
Trapped and getting ragged...
Like a tire needing air.
Addicted like an addict,
And trapped...
Needing air!
Trapped and getting ragged...
Like a tire needing air.
Addicted like an addict,
That's trapped and needing air!
Caged like a rabbit in fear and scared.

The Red Shirt
When they asked me why I started doing this again
I just told them, its cause I have to...
I can't leave the life I have behind me
I tried to leave but you came to find me
you took me back you had to rewind me
taught me to listen cause I let them blind me
I spoke the truth you had to remind me
I didn't use the same rhymes all the time
there was no hill that I couldn't climb
with the fire ad crawl through barb wire
my heart beat went flat like a car tire
whats worse is I let them take my desire
I went too far I was too tired to tire
I was far too proud to look like a liar
It felt right to run the other way
I told myself ad come back another day
wiped the sweat and tears, the blood stained
when my shirt was white I realized I changed.

there is a moment
for standing still and
just be here
listening, there is more
to what listening
gives, it is the emptying
of all gas,
it is the shhhhh
of this
existence, it the flat
tire and then
the filling up of all
that is flat and
empty, and then
it goes back
on page one which
has the theme of
moving and
bouncing and
flying and
be lost again to the
greatness of finally
finding the self that is
not actually inside
you....
the wind, the sea and
the width
and the length and
the unending and the
unedited...

Hat Too Flat
We come in on the morning scan
All the way from far arcturus
Bringing with us peace and good will
From the margins of space and time
Our women are slung down low to the ground
Theyre very good youve probably had one
Our men are brave, studly and wise,
A pleasure to behold
Right away we walk the walk
More or less we talk the talk
But every time we make our play
Their eyes get wide they run away
cause the hat stays too flat
My hat is way too flat
My english she is much better now
But my hat remains too flat
The man smells a rat
And thats the end of that
My english it is more better now
But my hat is still too flat
Fair arcturus fashion forecast:
Skirts will be shorter
Legs stay long
Virtual raincoats are coming back
Hats as always continued flat
Back at home the machines work hard
We folk like to take it easy
Honing our awareness of
The finer things of life
Here when I go down to my job
I work hard for what seems like a long time
I look at my watch: fifteen minutes
It felt like half a day!
Soon enough we break for lunch
Me and the boys now Im one of the bunch
But no one wants to sit with me
So tell me what can the matter be?
The hat stays too flat
My hat is way too flat
My english she is much better now
But the hat is just too flat
A little thing like that
They dont get past the hat
My english it is more better now
But my hat remains too flat

Liberated Lady 1999
She’s a liberated lady and she’s lookin’ out for herself.
And she don’t need your protection,
And she does not want your help.
And if you’re lookin’ for some pretty flower,
You better go look somewhere else,
’Cause I warn you, she’s a liberated lady.
She got off work at the foundry... she was feelin’ kind of beat.
On the bus she had to stand and let some fella have her seat.
And she pinched the ass of a guy who passed her
Walkin’ down the street.
When he called a cop, she didn’t quite understand
So she stopped off on the corner for her usual shot of rye
When some guy lit her cigarette, she punched him in the eye.
Then he kicked her in the balls, it was enough to make her cry,
But she stood there and she took it like a man.
She’s a liberated lady, and she smokes them big cigars.
You’re gonna find her drinkin’ boilermakers at the corner bar.
And in 30 seconds flat, she’ll change a flat tire on your car.
Look out –– she’s a liberated lady.
She come home to find her darlin’ husband cryin’ in distress
She said, 'Why ain’t supper ready and why is this house a mess'.
He said, 'The kids have drove me crazy, and I need a brand–new dress.
And how come you don’t ever take me dancin’?'
She sat down to smoke her pipe, and she thought back to the time
When she was satin, silk and lace with nothing on her mind.
But now she’s gotta mow the lawn and pay the bills on time
And pray to Mrs. God, she don’t get drafted.
They got into bed that evening, and she strapped her dildo on
She climbed on top of him and said, 'Ok, let’s get it on'.
He said, 'You know I’ve got my period and my headache isn’t gone '.
And he fell asleep –– the chauvinistic bastard.
But she’s a liberated lady, and she smokes them big cigars.
You’re gonna find her drinkin’ boilermakers at the corner bar.
And in 30 seconds flat, she’ll change a flat tire on your car.
Look out –– she’s a liberated lady.

Consideration and Compassion
One moment.
I want to digest your thought process.
I stopped to provide you with assistance,
To fix your flat tire.
And you tell me you are late for a meeting?
And...
I am taking longer than you had expected?
That I should show more consideration,
AND compassion?
'What do you think you are doing to my car.
You're taking the air out of my other tires.
And you haven't put the spare on.
YOU are going to cause ME to get fired! '
Consider this...
With an attitude like yours,
I am sure you are not missed.
Any compassion I 'use' to have,
Will be left to your memory.
I'm outta here!
You mistake me for some other monkey.
And you have become deluded by 'this' zoo!

Life Is A Wheel
Life
Is a wheel
The heart, brain,
Lung lever, kidney
The spokes
The blood works
The same way as
The air in the tube
Of the body like tire
A small leak
Can make the tire flat
One broken spoke
Can halt the wheel
The living
Becomes dead
The present
Turns into past
Let the
Wheel of life move
Exercise a bit
Keep the spokes fit
Air full
Live as long as the
Almighty wants

Nothing Compares To You
your nose is a big flat tire
but never did i tell you that there is a need to inflate
any part of it,
it is still the same nose to me
the one that i kissed
and loved
despite all the odds,
what a mess
but what a loveliness!

Life Is Just A Tire Swing
By: jimmy buffett
1974
I remember the smell of the creosote plant
When wed have to eat on easter with my crazy old uncle and aunt
They lived in a big house, antebellum style (antebellum)
And the winds would blow across the old bayou
And I was a tranquil little child
Chorus:
Life was just a tire swing
jambalaya was the only song I could sing
Blackberry pickin, eatin fried chicken
And I never knew a thing about pain
Life was just a tire swing
In a few summers my folks packed me off to camp
Yeah me and my cousin baxter in our pup tent with a lamp
And in a few days baxter went home and he left me by myself
But I knew that Id stay, it was better that way
And I could get along without any help
Chorus:
Life was just a tire swing
jambalaya was the only song I could sing
Chasin after sparrows with rubber-tipped arrows
Knowin I could never hurt a thing
Life was just a tire swing (tire swing)
And I never been west of new orleans or east of pensacola
My only contact with the outside world was an rca victrola
And elvis would sing and then Id dream about expensive cars
And who wouldve figured twenty years later
Id be rubbin shoulders with the stars
Life was just a tire swing
Then the other mornin on some illinois road
I fell asleep at the wheel
But was quickly wakened up by a ma bell telephone pole
And a bunch of grant wood faces screamin is he still alive?
Through the window I could see it hangin from a tree
And I knew that I had survived
And life is still a tire swing
jambalaya is the best song I can sing
Blackberry pickin, eatin fried chicken
But I finally learned a lot about pain
Life is just a tire swing (tire swing)
Life was just a tire swing (tire swing)
Life was just a tire swing (tire swing)
Life was just a tire swing (tire swing)

Get Me Out Of Here
(m&l - weikath)
I cant tell you how it happened
So I guess well never know
Im always late and running out of time
So I must be very slow
Someone must have smoked too much
Or is it only dust
My pals just tend to leave here in disgust
My flat is a mess same as ever before
My suits they stink like you dont wanna know
Junk to the left, trash to the right
Get me out of here I cant take it anymore
When the postman rings I stay in bed
I never make it down
My fridge must be alive inside
Its uttering funny sounds
If I dont know what time it is
I peek out if theres sun
No use anyway, my moneys gone
My flat is a mess same as ever before
My suits they stink like you dont wanna know
Junk to the left, trash to the right
Get me out of here I cant take it anymore
Get me out of here I cant take it anymore

Otherwise Bare!
a bicycle with a flat tire,
propped against a brick wall.
the old hose with a hole,
thrown to the side.
the old man in front of the tv,
from morning to night.
a dog collar by the ashtray,
a coffee pot grown cold.
a flashlight that doesnt work,
a pair of shoes that never fit.
books packed in a box,
at a three dollar yard sale.
the suit bought at goodwill,
waiting on the funeral.
the last pack of cigarettes,
an empty pack of matches.
love sleeping on couches,
a screwdriver with a broken bit.
a heart that smells of mothballs...
a block of cheese and a knife on a plate,
on a table otherwise bare!

What in the World Have I Done?
vs.1 They say I would have made it in time,
But, oh boy, they were wrong.
I sure hope that bein' a dope,
I will be able to get along.
(chorus)
I'm gonna do this, I'm gonna do that,
Last thing I need is a tire gone flat.
I mean, I'm barely gettin' through.
I've gotta do that, I've gotta do this,
Now there's somethin' I'm startin' to miss,
And there's nothin' I can do.
There's hardly any people havin' fun;
What in the world have I done?
vs.2 I wish I did what I told them I would,
But things just didn't turn out right.
To not burn a promise is the lesson I've learned,
And now things sure are 'tight! '

The Man Exclaims Part01
The man exclaims, 'It was by mere chance that I was in the parking lot when the man died, with the murder weapon in my hand. No sir I had o idea how he died. I just picked up the tire iron to check the pressure on my cars tires. I always used this tire iron. For I've always used the one from the parking garage to check my tires.'
the officier spoke sternly in a serious tone, 'that tire iron is not the weapon that killed this man.'
The man questioned in a state of confusion, 'Then what did? '
The officier was angry now. He screamed, 'you did after you smacked him with the tire iron. You ran over him 6 times.'
The man exclaimed, 'but that's not even my car. That's my wife. Mines the one next to it. I'm being framed I swear.'

The Music Is Gone
THE MUSIC IS GONE
The music is gone-
What is a poem without its own music?
There is no melody in me.
I hear these flat words form on the flat page.
There are no dimensions to me
I hear no singing as I write.
This poem is words with little feeling
A flat poor poem written by an old man
Who this morning
has not yet truly woken up.

In Search of 'Me
I locked myself inside my room
Reflecting… what’s going on
Walk here and there but still can’t find
Don’t know what my heart’s desire
I ask myself, “What shall I do? ”
I’m so bored and tired of life too
I’m like a car with a flat tire
Want to explore but don’t know how to start
Still I’m in search of myself
I tried lots of things but didn’t excel
People think that I’m so smart
How can I prove that they’re right?
Do I have to accept that I can’t be
Someone who can leave with a blaze
When I die no one will ever care
‘Cause I have nothing to share
Then the answer hit me instantly
The best way to cope with this
Is totally believe in myself
Be positive in all that I’ll make
I will let God guide my way
I will offer Him whatever is my fate
Put enthusiasm in everything
Through excellence I will find my true self

Second Hand Life
second hand smoke,
Salvation Army shoes.
a crack in the mirror....
empty chamber in the gun.
flat tire on the car...
and the mailbox is empty....
wrong number again,
picking up socks off the floor.
molded crust on the bread,
a bag of coffee, and potatoes....
burnt out burner on the stove,
cobwebs on the ceiling.
too much, too little...
but never enough!
