What was it about Carolyn that made her so cautious about revealing herself?

The Visitor
In Spanish he whispers there is no time left.
It is the sound of scythes arcing in wheat,
the ache of some field song in Salvador.
The wind along the prison, cautious
as Francisco's hands on the inside, touching
the walls as he walks, it is his wife's breath
slipping into his cell each night while he
imagines his hand to be hers. It is a small country.
There is nothing one man will not do to another.

Sonnet- Female Models And Today’s Fashion Shows
In the name of fashions, they wear the least!
Cat-walking, tip-toeing, clothed by a veil;
Revealing much, turning everyone pale;
When more modest would appear any beast.
All made up they come, these beauties so thin;
Baring their breasts, sizes, shapes aplenty;
’Tis an exercise of insanity!
Revealing their bottoms is not a sin.
They still call it fashion-parades these days;
Dress is something that protects modesty;
Revealing their bodies in umptine ways,
Their dress is so transparent and scanty.
What has befall’n our modern society?
Dress reveals modesty in entirety!

Look What Loves Revealing
The sweetest smile
The shyest kiss
Two wounded hearts
Were not expecting this
Chorus:
Look what loves revealing
Something to believe in
Time to start the healing
For you and me
Look what loves revealing
Promises for keeping
Its natural as breathing
Look what loves revealing
Willing to trust
Well make it through
You reach for me
And find me reaching too
Repeat chorus
Its natural as breathing
Look what loves revealing

Mama's Legacy
MAMA'S LEGACY
When I was just a little girl
I lay in Mama's bed
To listen to the fairy tales
From the little books she read.
Of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs
Cinderella and her Prince
Of Rumplestiltskin-Puss 'N Boots
And Aladdin and his tents.
I couldn't get enough of them
I'd ask her every night
But sleep would always conquer me
No matter how I'd fight.
I'd recite the words along with her
I knew them all by heart
She'd read to me from anything
Some knowledge to impart.
She taught me about the world around
From books she read aloud
She made my life worth living
And made me live it proud.
When I had children of my own
I read from those same books
To teach my children that in this life
You need brains, not just good looks.

graduation Day
-GRADUATION DAY--
The mist hung slight
Above the ground.
Students all were
Scurrying 'round.
With testing done
The college plight,
Such merriment
It t'was a sight.
As mortar boards
Flung into the air
Their joy and sadness
Each to share.
Forward as their
Lives would go,
And where they lead
No one does know.

Love, You Are Welcome.
You thought
That I could not sleep without you,
That I could not live without you
And that I could die soon without you,
But I didn't.
Thank you;
You have made me love wreck proof.
You have made a cautious lover.
You have made me a casual lover.
You're welcome.

The Lonely Willow Tree
THAT LONELY WILLOW TREE
God made this Earth,
The Sun... The Air.
He placed it all
Into Man's care.
On it He placed
Flowers and trees
In beautiful colors,
Man's eyes to please.
But when He thought
His work was done,
He added this....
A tree.....Just one.
He planted here
A Willow Tree,
Where Man could pray
On bended knee.
But now when Man
Neglects to come,
He named this tree
The weeping one.
Near a stream
Where no one will be
There stands a lonely
Weeping Willow Tree.
And when you see
It's branches weep,
You know that from
God's eyes....
....................Tears do Seep.

My Unborn First Sister
The anticipation grows each day
To see my little sister appear and say
Carolyn I love you so
Thankyou for being the sister I know
I talk some days to my mums tiny bump
And see this huge explosive thump
Is this my sister already talking to me?
i really hope so I guess ill soon see
all the love and care inside
builds each day it can not hide
it is all made for this one little girl
my first sister to be my mums little pearl
in a few weeks ill no longer be
this “only child”, its no longer just me
this is definitely not a bad thing
I already love my unborn sibling
When she appears we will all celebrate
Me, mum and Jase we really cant wait
To see her little face awaken and shine
This really will be a happy time
So to you my little unborn sibling
After 17 years I now know what I have been missing
A little sister to love and hold near
And that baby girl is you my dear

There Is A Backlash Passing
There is a backlash passing,
As if an eclipse comes to uncover.
Revealing less of a tolerance,
For excuses made for clever maneuvers.
People no longer hesitate,
To express their impatience.
There is a rise of agitation.
And a venting of displeasures meant.
There is a backlash passing,
As if an eclipse comes to uncover.
Revealing less of a tolerance,
For excuses made for clever maneuvers.
People are awkening,
From a sleep that had deceived.
And a demand for answers once smothered up...
Are breaking from the ranks of a conformity.
It is the economy that is doing it.
And the people want it known,
They are aware and conscious...
From a duping done that left them in a stupor bummed.

American Beauty’- 2000 Oscar.
Laster Bumhone, at forty two,
Provoked by forbidden passion
For his daughter’s friend, Angela,
Grow strong with lustful attention.
Mid life crises set on.
Adolescence love is reborn.
From his dear wife Carolyn,
He distances himself.
Day and night, he builds his body
With vigorous exercises
And finds ways to woo her madly.
He gets her and by guilt he dies.
Carolyn responds to advances
Made by her handsome colleague.
When is detected their romance
By her husband, she commits suicide.
A newly arrived neighbour lad
Takes fancy to her daughter Jane.
The disciplined father of the lad
Thrashes the budded love to naught.
Love is blind to hit anywhere.
The family is split somehow.
Unless given allowances,
Souls of family get no solace.

depression
-DEPRESSION-
I Am, crawling in the basement
Of a house so-called depression,
Cannot lift myself from under
This Rock of non-expression.
Just lingering in the darkness,
Not a candle in the way
And now I lie here motionless
Into another day.
No feelings in my body,
No thoughts to fill my mind;
For if I cannot awake from this
My fate is now resigned.
There lurking in the darkness
Is one who summons me.
The man who holds the sickle
Does now call out in glee.

Love You My Friend
-- * LOVE YOU MY FRIEND * --
I played out in the rain today
I had a lot of fun.
I splashed in all the puddles
Wherever I did run.
I turned my face up to the sky
To catch a dropp or two
And all the time I played in it,
I remembered thoughts of you.
Remembering all the fun we had
In Younger days of play
And here is a reminder.....
I still love you, everyday.......

The Cavalier
He'd wandered into the party through
The French Doors, facing the lake,
Was vague, and missing a bob or two,
Perhaps he'd made a mistake?
Taken a left at the crossroads where
The kids had hidden the sign,
Instead of a right to the Graham's house,
I'd ask him, given the time.
The party was getting out of hand
The punch was spiked with gin,
And vodka and tequila and…
God knows what else was in!
For Jane was down to her underwear
While Pat fell down in a heap,
And Margaret danced on the table while
Her kids were sound asleep.
The clock in the hall struck midnight then
And I was getting tired,
I went on the hunt for Carolyn,
I thought that she'd expired,
But there she was, in the corner with
The stranger in the hat,
A funny thing with a feather in
And fancy dress, at that.
I thought that I'd introduce myself,
I'd not seen him before,
Perhaps he worked at the agency,
I'd ask, she'd know the score,
But Carolyn acted nervous when
I tried to hold her hand,
‘What gentleman is this, I pray? '
He asked of Carolyn.
‘Oh Phil, he's simply a husband, '
She replied, she was sublime,
I note she mentioned ‘a husband' but
No mention that ‘He's mine! '
‘And what are these folk that prate, disport
And act themselves remiss,
Is he from the Long Parliament?
God help him, if he is! '
I knew the punch had been tampered with
But he hadn't been there long,
Maybe he'd savoured something else,
Who knew what he was on!
But Carolyn gave me that funny look
And I edged back into the room,
Leaving the two of them talking there
In the corner, in the gloom.
We'd always had an arrangement, she
Had friends, and I had mine,
We never questioned each other, and
We found that it worked out fine,
She'd spend a night on the town or so
And fix me up a tray,
While I'd go visiting Annabel
For a tumble in the hay.
We'd purchased the house at Kineton,
When she'd said: ‘It has such charm! '
And I was content to be out there
In the country, near a farm,
They said the place was historic
Dating back to the civil war,
But not ‘til the night of the party
Did I give it a second thought.
By one, the following morning, when
The party was winding down,
I found that Carolyn disappeared
With the stranger to the town,
She sent me a mobile message, ‘Will
You come and get me, Phil?
I'm right in the heart of a skirmish
Down the slope, just by Edgehill! '
I drove to the ancient battlefield
In the dark, on a Moonless night,
But nothing stirred in the field out there
In the beam of the car's headlight,
My phone lit up with another call
And her voice came drifting through,
‘My God, I'm stuck in a battle, Phil,
In 1642! '
She'd taken off with the Cavalier,
I knew what he was by now,
A straggler caught in the folds of time
That had fetched up here, somehow,
And Carolyn faded into the past
As she'd made it more than clear,
I'm the only man with a wife that ran
Away with a Cavalier!

i Can Travel On
-I CAN TRAVEL ON-
Lord,
Each day I take these problems
And spread them upon the floor
To just wrap them very carefully
And send them to You, My Lord.
I go over everyone of them
And feel them deep inside.
I wrap each one in paper
Each one for You to hide.
No longer will I see them
No longer their weight, I bear,
Because I've given all to you
And their resolution...You can't share.
My Faith is in You, My Father,
These problems now are gone
And now my life I live again
And, God, I can travel on.......

Cautious
The white wolf wasn't all too keen
To challenge anyone.
He heard a noise, his heart turned mean,
Beneath the fading sun...
When cautious instincts made him wait,
His eyes scanned high and low.
In seconds, he would learn his fate...
To stay here or to go...
The lone wolf listened for some clues
Of movement left or right.
Another noise was more bad news...
Yet he was born to fight!
The minutes melted silently...
Yet nothing more was heard...
Now drained of curiosity,
He took a chance and stirred.
With leaps and bounds, he crossed the plains,
Escaping dangers there.
The cautious white wolf broke the chains
That he was forced to bear.
The path ahead was open wide
And so new life begins...
New confidence helped him decide,
Throw caution to the winds...
His heartbeat calmed beside the stream...
He drank his fill... time passed...
In time, this day would seem a dream...
For now, he slept... at last...
The poem is based on the magnificent painting
by Stephen Gayford called 'Cautious'.

the Fishing Tradition
--THE FISHING TRADITION--
Tiny Tots with long cane poles
Granpaw's knowledge he extols
Putting worms on crooked hooks
Whipping line in rippling brooks.
There each weekend they would stand
All expertise, small hands command,
For there in awe they do observe
No less then Grampaw does deserve.
Handing down traditions fare
To little tykes just standing there
And now Adults traditions stand
When Little Tykes turn into Man.

the Irish Wedding Knot
-THE IRISH WEDDING KNOT-
Have you ever seen a Wedding Knot
Carved from one piece of wood,
Given to an Irish Bride
Before the alter where they stood.
The one I have is walnut
Made by a loving hand.
It was passed down to my father
Just as his mother planned.
A marriage of a lifetime
Carved into that little knot.
A tiny little wooden cage...
Wooden ball within the slot.
That wooden ball just stays there
sliding 'round inside that cage,
Never will it be removed...
Never will it disengage.
Three marriages it's gone through
Each one has lasted long....
And as long as it remains inside
Your marriage won't go wrong.
This special knot I'll treasure
Three generations through.
This loving Irish Wedding Knot
Binds my love to me so true.

To You My Love
-- * TO YOU MY LOVE * --
You and I
After all these years
Through lots of love
Through lots of tears
Together we are
Together we stay
Together in love
On this perfect day
With memories old
With memories new
As I spend this lifetime
Together with you
So now to you
I want to say
I love you, so,
On this our perfect day.

Sweet Freedom Land
-* SWEET FREEDOM LAND*-
Silence of the field
I see,
The colors shouting out
To me.
Statuesque the Firs
Do stand,
Amid this solid
Freedom land.
With snow capped mountains
To the sky,
Just calling out
To you and I.
Entice me land
That is so Free,
In silence you
Call out to me.
Goodbye, Sweet Scene
In life so grand.
I bow to you
Sweet Freedom Land.
