After The Poems What Will Be For Me?
After the poems, what will be for me?
I am now wholly in them
But they are not as good
As I dreamed
And I as a poet am not the answer to my own ambition.
Will it be ‘Stories’ next?
And then on to ‘Aphoristic reflections’ Pascal- like?
How will I do it?
Or will, as seems most likely now, how will I never do it?
I am the mediocre poet who is the mediocre writer who is the mediocre thinker who is mediocre in all he does
I am the mediocrity and my mediocrity makes me me.
Mediocre me- Pity pity the poor ambitious soul
Who would have been great, and is not.

Just A Phase
I am bottled fizzy water
And you were shaking me up
You are a fingernail running
Down the chalkboard I thought
I left in third grade
Now my only consolation
Is that this could not last forever
Even though youre
Singing and thinking how well
Youve got it made
Who are you?
And will you be through
Yeah, its just a phase
It will be over soon
Yeah, its just a phase
Yeah, its just a phase
Call it womens intuition
But I think im
Onto something here
Temporaryism has been
The black plague
And the jesus of our age
I know that
I sound opinionated
May be biased and
Quite possibly jaded
But sooner than later
Theyll be throwing quarters
At you on the stage
Who are you?
And will you be through
Yeah, its just a phase
It will be over soon
Yeah, its just a phase
Yeah, its just a phase
And I am waiting for
It to be over too

Glad to be living
Every morning the rays
of the new day wakes me
and I rise,
a man who’s free from boredom
and glad to be living
in this age and time.
I do not need
an oil well or a gold mine
or even diamonds
in my back yard,
or the things that money brings.
Just to be living
is a precious thing
and to have a sweetheart,
that loves me for who I am
turns every day
into something exciting.
To be able to pay the bills
and to earn enough to take care or her
and treat her at times
may sound mediocre,
but to me
it makes life worth living.

A Mediocre Man
I'm just a mediocre man
Of no high-brow pretence;
A comfortable life I plan
With care and commonsense.
I do the things most people do,
I echo what they say;
And through my morning paper view
The problems of the day.
No doubt you think I'm colourless,
Profoundly commonplace;
And yet I fancy, more or less,
I represent the race.
My name may stand for everyone,
At least for nine in ten,
For all in all the world is run
By mediocre men.
Of course you'll maybe not agree
That you are average,
And unlike ordinary me
You strut your little stage,
Well, you may even own a Bank,
And mighty mergers plan,
But Brother, doff your tile and thank
The Mediocre Man.

Great spirits have always encountered opposition from mediocre minds. The mediocre mind is incapable of understanding the man who refuses to bow blindly to conventional prejudices and chooses instead to express his opinions courageously and honestly.

041710g We Have It Moving
we gather in hangar bay for final instructions
we have power points so as mapped locations
safety issues, time issues, plans a through z
mediocre minds would have a sure struggle
we have radios, prompters and observers
we could beat a high school football game
we are in groups spread out throughout ship
top. bottom, forward, aft, portside, starboard
we got it covered; no possible mishap; final
it started with slow phase like learning to walk
as the people familiarize themselves to par
we are auto-cruising, praying not to hit sandbar

Everybody that's living in this earth is living in a situation. It's not narrow-minded to the point where everybody is serious and nobody has a personality. I think people die telling jokes.
The Next Phase
It's only a phase.
The next phase.
The next phase...
To come and change the last days,
To put up on a higher stage!
It's only a phase.
The next phase.
The next phase...
To come and change the last days,
To put up on a higher stage!
It's only a phase.
The next phase.
The next phase...
To come and change the last days,
To put up on a higher stage!
It's only a phase.
Many will taste it
Many will hate it.
And some of the stunned will run.
Run-run-run.
Many will taste it
Many will hate it.
The elated,
Will be baited!
And some of the stunned will run...
Run-run-run.
Many will taste it.
The next phase.
Many will hate it.
The next phase.
The elated,
Will be baited!
And some of the stunned will run...
Run-run-run.
And some of the stunned will run...
Run.
Run.

A Friend To You
===========
Show me your fear, causing the hate
Look at myself
I hear your words, anticipate
I am your wealth
The one who tells you when & when not to conform
The one you cannot see
I am to you
The friend you'll never know
Each phase of life
A new scenario
I think your thoughts, I see your dreams
I speak the truth
I watch you move, collaborate
I am your youth
The one who tells you what is right and what is wrong
The one you want to be
I am to you
The friend you'll never know
Each phase of life
A new scenario
We are one, you can confide in me
We are one, you cannot hide from me
I am to you
The friend you'll never know
Each phase of life
A new scenario
I am to you
Each phase of life

People Mediocre Later Weep
Give up your best,
To the one you are sure will catch it.
Don't just give it up...
To anyone who 'might' fetch it!
Give up your best,
To the one you are sure will catch it.
Don't just give it up...
To anyone who 'might' fetch it!
People undecided don't know what it is they want.
So don't give up your best...
To anyone to fetch,
It.
People mediocre will choose anything to flaunt,
Without a knowing what they want.
Thinking anything that gleems,
Is a 'keeper'.
People undecided don't know what it is they want.
So don't give up your best...
To anyone to fetch,
It.
Give up your best,
To the one you are sure will catch it.
Don't just give it up...
To anyone who 'might' fetch it!
People mediocre will choose anything to flaunt,
Without a knowing what they want.
Thinking anything that gleems,
Is a 'keeper'...
To later weep.
People mediocre will choose anything to flaunt,
Without a knowing what they want...
To later weep.
In their misery.
People mediocre,
Later weep...
Without a sleeping.
People mediocre,
Later weep.
People mediocre,
Can not sleep.
And...
People mediocre often weep,
In their misery.

I Am Never The Best In Anything
I AM NEVER THE BEST IN ANYTHING
I am never the best in anything
Sometimes I am second best
Often I am just mediocre.
A second son
I am never more than second
In all I do.
As I write this poem
I think of many
More rich in metaphor
More wise in complex rhyme
More dazzling in vocabulary
Deeper in Beauty and Meaning
Than me.
Second best, mediocre
Maybe worse
The poet of endless literal complaints
About his own poetry.
Boring boring boring
Second best
Second rate
Not great.

A Comedy of Error
A couple went to the family doctor
Husband to get his usual insulin dose
And wife takes her contraceptive injection.
There is a new doctor in the absence of the Physician.
The new doctor is really an absent minded mediocre
Who does illegal abortions?
It seems by mistake the syringes being changed
And the husband got the contraceptive and wife the insulin.
Then after sometimes she conceived for the fifth occasion.

God’s Creation
He is carved from metal and wood,
Beauty is a sign, beauty shall obey.
The sculpture describes a living,
It is living from dusk to dawn,
Only my loving is his dying in this year.
Derange him not, make him sane
As an object too godly offering shame.
The depth of his play is like that of art,
He is art, and not me, so he must be beautiful
And he will be defined by his looks.
He is just a fine mediocre creation of God.

Hard Corps Not Core
As many of us go through life,
There is something that we to want help us through any strife
We feel like need more
This is what led us to be Hard Corps not Core
It made us turn from a boy to a man
As we were made to push up and down in that Paris Island Sand
Too many in this story can be said that they went to Hollywood
But I guess it is still all good
The story goes more like this
To help achieve our only wish
1st Phase us broke down
2nd Phase turned us around
3rd Phase taught how to be mean
Graduation showed the world what it takes to be a Marine
