The rich are not born sceptical or cynical. They are made that way by events, circumstances.

Cynical Baby Downtown

'Soothing voices are announcing,
cynical baby downtown,
another suppression of hope,
a day of compulsory dancing,
cynical baby downtown,
and subliminal sex, guns and dope.

The mistress of rude assumptions,
cynical baby downtown,
is trying to give us a clue,
displaying the bodily functions,
cynical baby downtown,
of what I might mean to you.

Old men are showing photographs,
cynical baby downtown,
of some of the targets we hit;
I guess the animal that laughs,
cynical baby downtown,
has had a testosterone fit.

And the party went ballistic,
cynical baby downtown,
but no one was to blame;
it was your explosive lipstick,
cynical baby downtown,
that had just spoken my name.'

Democracy I beg to differ.

I’m cynical and sceptical.
I don’t believe the promises
which are mainly rhetorical
and open to compromises

Of politicians canvassing
attempting to secure my vote
They are experts in buck passing
Their words are rarely worth a quote.

They talk a lot but don’t say much
and what they say deniable
Make no attempt to stay in touch
they’re mostly unreliable.

For every thing they fail to do
they always claim expedience
had made it necessary to
change plans in my experience.

Their words are chosen carefully
to have the maximum effect.
Delivered oratorically
To simple fools who still expect.

Old fashioned standards still apply
Morality and honesty,
in modern times in short supply
At least to me they seem to be.

That’s why I have no sympathy
When they are proved to be corrupt
Our system far too easily
allows the morally bankrupt.

To pose as men of probity
and run for public offices.
here they practice dishonesty
with every prospect of success.

And that is why I’m sceptical.
The system’s rotten to the core.
and totally impractical
There is no justice anymore.

Today, I want to be cynical!

Today, I want to be cynical
I won’t listen those long lyrical
I don’t care people’s opinion
Today, I want to be cynical
I’ll be the sour vinegar
On the tip of your tongue
I’ll quench my cold blood
I’ll shut my crying heart

Today, I want to be cynical
I deny false sympathy
I believe world’s hypocrisy
Today, I want to be cynical
I’ll burn your comical face
With acid glance’s attack
I’ll breed my poisonous words
I’ll carve my sadistic smile

Today, I want to be cynical
I shame self pity
I laugh at naivety
Today, I want to be cynical
I’ll be the sound of thunder
Shake often your bright day
I’ll know your hidden mistake
I’ll close your chance to break

Today, I want to be cynical!

Diamond

OK, be cynical – say,
why, it’s only a piece of dead wood
that found itself trapped when
the earth’s crust heaved a sigh…

be cynical - say,
it didn’t ask for you to
dig it up - buried there
recovering from the shock…

be cynical - say,
anyway, it looked like a pebble then
until a man so cleverly polished it..

be cynical – say,
it’s nothing of itself – all it does
is to reflect the light that’s always all around..

be cynical – say,
we’d only value it as a piece of glass,
if smart guys didn’t fix it for them to seem rare,
and silly girls say, look, it proves he loves me…

now just look at this diamond..
what use is your mind
when your eye and your heart
get on so well without it?

Cynical Days

Another years gone by,
The worlds grown older,
Sometimes I heave a sigh,
People grow colder.
Every day I do my best to show,
I can make it in this world I know,
But all the bad thoughts that people bring,
My faith in human natures
Getting pretty thin.
Help me get through these cynical days.
Help me get through my cynical ways.
You say its just a passing phase,
Youve got to help me get through, these cynical days.
Another see through scheme,
People are shallow.
The dark nights closing in,
My dark thoughts follow.
I try and make my world a better place,
(my efforts seem in vain),
But Im competing in a human race,
(falling deeper down the drain),
That value things that just dont count,
Makes me wonder what its all about.
Help me get through these cynical days.
Help me get through my cynical ways.
You say its just a passing phase,
Youve got to help me get through these cynical days.
Yeah, you say its just a passing phase,
Youve got to help me get through these cynical days.
Yeah, you say its just a passing phase,
Youve got to help me get through these cynical days.
Yeah, you say its just a passing phase,
Youve got to help me get through these cynical days.
Cynical days.
Cynical days.

The Head

Born in Jamaica but made in America,
Born in Germany but made in America,
Born in Senegal but made in America,
And like life in the land of snakes and lizards;
For there are rich churches all over the world!
But what are they preaching to their members?

The head of everyman is the Messiah!
And of the called out ones who are few in number;
But His voice will shake the earth an His words will touch many,
For the head of every woman is the man.

Born in Soweto but made in America,
For the woman is the expression of man's glory!
And the Head of the Messiah is father Yahweh,
But many will surely be taken from this muse.

A double-minded person is always unstable,
For his of her ways are always crooked!
But with all thses rich churches around us,
We still have many poor people around us who have not even eaten.

I have become a pragmatist for friend Leslie

I have become a pragmatist

I’ve been betrayed by so called friends
and people who I thought I knew.
With no attempt to make amends.
I sometimes wonder if it’s true.
Was I myself in part to blame
for trusting far too readily
that’s not the way to win life’s game.
Now that it’s too late I see
I acted rather foolishly.
I should have been more sceptical
and checked them out more thoroughly
at risk of seeming cynical.
I am no longer so naïve
I’ve learnt my lesson I believe.

We are the only beings on the planet who lead such rich internal lives that it's not the events that matter most to us, but rather, it's how we interpret those events that will determine how we think about ourselves and how we will act in the future.

Illogicality

In the beginning was the WORD.
So we are told but not who spoke
Which seems to me to be absurd.
I m forced to treat it as a joke.

No one to speak no one to hear
Which seems to be improbable
and fails to satisfy I fear.
I find it to be impossible

I would prefer a logical
explanation, I can
believe just might be true
But fairy stories will not do.

I’m sceptical, I need proof.
I can’t accept on faith alone
That what we’re taught must be the truth.
I think the truth remains unknown.

I can respect what you believe
I only ask you do the same.
Because I happen to perceive
A different start to the game.

Who was it spoke from whence came he?
Who created the creator.
Was he in fact pure energy?
that sprang from some stars molten core.

I only know I do not know
and I refuse to speculate.
About what happened long ago.
I am content to indicate.

I don’t believe, don’t even try.
I cite the lack of evidence.
The theory seems to fly
Into the face of common sense.

Although I do not claim to be
anything but a simple man
I must reject entirely
The claims of those who say they can.

Teach the truth because they know.
It must remain a mystery
They have no evidence to show
They have divine authority.

I’m sceptical and cynical.
I have a brain that I can use.
I am convinced it’s logical
to be determined to refuse

to accept what I was taught.
By those who know no more than me.
Although my teachers think I ought.
I will rebel instinctively

Every cat had a day.

Regret not you were born poor
As you have grown to die rich.
Regret not you are dying poor
As you were born rich.
Regret not being poor throughout
As you were spared of many sins.
Do die being proud of the peaks
Formed of the heaps you made.

I'm Dreaming Of A Cynical Christmas

I'm dreaming of a cynical christmas,
Just like the ones we used to know,
Where us sarcastic blighters,
And RAF fighters,
Could deliver witty statements on the go.

I'm dreaming of a cynical christmas,
Just like the ones we used to know,
Where we take the mickey,
When the situations stickey,
And end up thrown out in the snow.

I'm dreaming of a cynical christmas,
Just like the ones we used to know,
We can laugh at him 'til he dies,
Chokes to death of one of our mincepies,
And our happiness never be low!

Prelude To You

You are conceived
Your parents receive notice of you r coming
They rejoice and believe
You are born
You grow
You live
You reap
You sow
You listen and learn
You are part of actions
You attend events
You are developing into the person
God always meant
Your life's circumstances
Seems to be a part of a plan
Your making to be
That woman
That man
An introduction to whom
The world will somehow visualize as
The real geniune person,
that is known as you
IIn this life
There's a prelude to everything
There is also
A prelude to you

Sonnet: The Rich and the Poor

The rich become richer and the poor poorer;
This is the way in which this world goes on!
Men may become suddenly rich, not born;
A rich man turns suddenly a beggar.

The few pennies are snatched off from the poor;
The brunt of taxes are but borne by them;
They can’t make both ends meet by any sum;
The rich hoodwink the taxman- their brother!

Will the world treat people alike ever?
All men are born unequally today;
Yet, if it happens, ’twill be a wonder;
No matter what you do, things happen this way.

The rich become richer not by real work;
The poor become poorer though they hardwork!

Who Am I...

Am I the sum of all my experiences and events?
The friends I have made or the realisation of all my goals,
Childhood aspiations... Astronaut, rock star, footballer.
Varied, bright and innocent, random and obscure,
Each hope a precious moment to be faded or dashed.
Cynical rain washes in, expectations of others a burden,
How they see me, how they judge me. My life is on show.
What do they really see? What do they really think?
Do they see what I think they see? Do they know the real me?
Anxiety pulses like a living beast within me. Will it turn me?
A creature of someone elses making, of their desires.
Not mine... Not me... Nothing...

Spread the love... The peace will follow...
