The public is usually slow to catch on to new things, and it's important that musicians stick to their guns and not look for that instant gratification.

Just Follow That Yellow Brick Road
Instant gratification?
I'm sorry I don't have it here for you,
Like that.
And there is nothing on my path that says I should.
Have you been modified to accept rejection?
I hope so.
I would hate to be the one to break your heart,
With a pinch of reality and a dash of a thought process.
The instant gratification you might be seeking...
May be found at another address.
Just follow that yellow brick road.

Stick To Your Guns
Get a grip on yourself
Get in shape for tonight
Take a look at yourself or your dreams
Youre losing sight
It just aint right, it just aint right
Hey man look at me Im screaming
Are you watching me bleed, are you believin
You got to stick to you guns
Whats right for you aint right for everyone
Aint right for everyone
You got to stick to your guns
Whats right for you aint right for everyone
Aint right for everyone
Too much too soon, too much for you
Every day has a hero, dont it though
Dont let it go
You gotta fight, it just aint right
Hey man, look at me Im screaming
Are you watching the green are you believin
You got to stick to your guns
Whats right for you aint right for everyone
It aint right for everyone
You got to stick to your guns
Whats right for you aint right for everyone
Aint right for everyone
Hey man, look at me Im screaming
Are you watching the green are you believin
You got to stick to your guns
Whats right for you aint right for everyone
It aint right for everyone
You got to stick to your guns
Whats right for you aint right for everyone
Aint right for everyone...

Gun Control
(ian hunter)
All right
Gun control, we dont want no
Gun control, we dont want no
Gun control, we dont want no
Gun control.
Stick to your guns, boys, stick to your guns.
Well make a lot of money if we stick to the guns.
The presidents with us boys, so join in the fun.
We can make a lot of money if we stick to our guns.
Yeah
Gun control, we dont want no
Gun control, we dont want no
Gun control, we dont want no
Gun control.
Let the bullets go!
Step up the lobby, boys, down in washington.
We can make a lot of money if you stick to your guns.
Tradition is with us boys, its the constitution,
So stick to your guns, boys, the final solution.
Hey
Gun control, we dont want no
Gun control, we dont want no
Gun control, we dont want no
Gun control.
Hey, and aint it a shame we aint got a war,
Well just have to practice on the sick and the poor.
Assassinate presidents, and they aint the only ones,
We can get them all, young and old, if we stick to our guns.
So stick to your guns, boys, fight for your life.
Well all feel special on a saturday night.
Yeah!
Gun control, we dont want no
Gun control, we dont want no
Gun control, we dont want no
Gun control.
Let the bullets go.
Viva macho
Viva macho
Viva macho
Viva macho
Gun control, no, we dont want no
Gun control, no, we dont want no
Gun control, hey, I dont want no
Gun control, (Im much too busy making...)
Gun control,
Gun control, (...saturday night specials)

Inaudible Melodies
Brushfire fairytales
Itsy bitsy diamond wells
Big fat hurricanes
Yellow bellied given names
Well shortcuts can slow you down
And in the end we're bound
To rebound off of we
Well dust off your thinking caps
Solar powered plastic plants
Pretty pictures of things we ate
We are only what we hate
But in the long run we have found
Silent films are full of sound
Inaudibly free
Slow down everyone
You're moving too fast
Frames can't catch you when
You're moving like that
Inaudible melodies
Serve narrational strategies
Unobtrusive tones
Help to notice nothing but the zone
Of visual relevancy
Frame-lines tell me what to see
Chopping like an axe
Or maybe Eisenstein should just relax
Slow down everyone
You're moving too fast
Frames can't catch you when
You're moving like that
Well Plato's cave is full of freaks
Demanding refunds for the things they've seen
I wish they could believe
In all the things that never made the screen
And just slow down everyone
You're moving too fast
Frames can't catch you when
You're moving like that
Slow down everyone
You're moving too fast
Frames can't catch you when
You're moving like that
Moving Too....

Well, you know, I think in conversations with members of the Senate and others, they all recognize that the issue of immigration is important. It's important to our nation, it's important to our public safety, it's important to our security, it's important to our economic well-being moving forward. And it's not something that's going to go away.

On the one hand, the guns were there to help capture the imagination of the people. But more important, since we knew that you couldn't observe the police without guns, we took our guns with us to let the police know that we have an equalizer.

When Your Money (Is Worthless)
what are you going to do,
when your money is worthless?
when it wont buy anything?
not a loaf of bread,
not a jug of water...
not even a gallon of gas!
when you're left alone
in the dark, with no one
to count on by yourself,
with no friends,
no instant gratification...
what are you going to do?

I'm good friends with The Rock, and I talk to him all the time. And he says that, even though his movie career has taken off, he misses the instant gratification of wrestling, and the live crowds, and I could see being that way myself.

I was afraid the other musicians might want to present themselves too much, though I see in the coverage I've received of the album that the musicians got wonderful reviews for their contributions and abilities. I think the four musicians played freely within my limits.

Less selfish
How can I be less selfish than others?
When whole attention is paid on weather
People talk of more rain and flood
Where as I fear about shortage about food
There are some restrictions on your utterances
People object too much and draw the inferences
There is high controversy when you move in casual manner
People try to spoil your image with the help of spanner
Yet I know self love is most important and very much crucial
It has been established time and again despite vehement denial
Who can be trusted if he says that he cares not for self?
When there is enough at stake and free to grab from sea shelf
It is rightly said “self love is most important”
All happiness comes quickly and instant
If you are well of with all the luxury at hand
Whole world come to you and make you good friend
Yet in public domain you got to be little cautious
As your presence in public life is observed continuous
Little fault is seen as big as coconut fruit
Otherwise there is little substance in it or truth
But I learned a lot from this theory
If you love less yourself then you got to feel little sorry
No one may come forward for you to worry
The whole burden later may fall on you to carry
Try to be honest as far as possible
But that should not create problem or trouble
Charity or public life is unrewarding
Public image is eroded with shameless wordings
Even if you remain with high integrity and spotless career
People may try to find out by coming very near
They will know for sure its futility
But there is always difference between good and bad quality

I do music because I can just pick up my guitar and sing, and completely satisfy, instant gratification. I don't need a script, I don't people, I don't need anything, cameras, I just have myself and my guitar, or keyboard.

Stick By Me
Stick by me and I'll stick by you
Stick by me and I'll stick by you
My life here on earth would be useless can't you see
If I didn't have you to stick by me
I love you darling and that's no lie
Stick by me and I'll stick by you
When you cry I cry too
Stick by me and I'll stick by you
Friends may try to hurt us
Scandalise our name
But no one (no-one) can tear us apart
You have a place in my heart
I love you darling and that's no lie
Stick by me and I'll stick by you
Remember my heart and love belongs to you
Stick by me and I'll stick by you
When you cry I'll cry too
Stick by me and I'll stick by you
Repeat from "Friends may try to hurt us ..."

One of the things that's influenced me musically was my experience at Brown University. I was surrounded by musicians that I really admired, and felt challenged to come up with music, lyrics, and recordings that stood up to the expectations of those musicians and myself.
Slow Down
Chorus:
I said slow down--
Slow down and live, my friend
Take time--take time to understand
The things--the things you hope to win
Before--before your journeys end
Slow down--slow down and try to do
The things--the things thats right for you
You know--you know
The soul--the soul
You save could be your own
Albert abernathy never spent a foolish dime
Rising at the crack of dawn and working overtime
You know, he never told me how much happiness he found
Yesterday we laid him in the finest grave in town.
Chorus:
I said slow down--
Slow down and live, my friend
Take time--take time to understand
The things--the things you hope to win
Before--before your journeys end.
Slow down--slow down and try to do
The things--the things thats right for you
You know--you know
The soul--the soul
You save could be your own.
Little sally tremble is a music city queen
You can see her picture now on every magazine
Sallys come a long way from the life she left behind
Shes had six gold records and been married seven times!
Chorus:
I said slow down--slow down and live my friend
Take time--take time to understand
The things--the things you hope to win
Before--before your journeys end
Slow down--slow down and try to do
The things--the things thats right for you
You know--you know
The soul--the soul
You save could be your own.

Growing Up In Public
Some people are into the power of power
The absolute corrupting power, that makes great men insane
While some people find their refreshment in action
The manipulation, encroachment and destruction of their inferiors
Growing up in public, growing up in public
Growing up in public, growing up in public with your pants down
Some people are into sadistic pleasures
They whet their desires and drool in your ears
Theyre quasi-effeminate characters in love with oral gratification
They edify your integrities, so they can play on your fears
Theyre gonna do you in public, cause youre growing up in public
Theyre gonna do it to you in public,
cause youre growing up in public with your pants down
Some people think being a man is unmanly
Some people think that the whole concepts a joke
But some people think being a man is the whole point
And then some people wish theyd never awoke
Up from a dream of nightmarish proportions
Down to a size neither regal nor calm
A prince hamlet caught the middle between reason and instinct
Caught in the middle with your pants down again
Caught in the middle, Im really caught in the middle
Im caught in the middle, caught in the middle deciding about you
