Just a Bit
A big hound dog laid on the lawn.
Nearby, an old geezer did sit.
A traveling salesman came on
The scene, and paused there for a bit.
'Does your dog bite? ' the salesman asked.
'Nope.' the old geezer replied back
Then the dog's face got snarling masked.
That salesman came under attack,
Bitten about the arms and head
By the dog, as it fiercely growled.
'Call the dog off. I thought you said'
'It doesn't bite.' the salesman howled.
'My dog don't bite.' smiled the old guy,
''Cause that there dog ain't mine, that's why.'
Minus is more powerful.
Minus one added with plus one
Cancels the plus one.
Minus one multiplied by plus one
Gives the minus one.
Bad words and deeds like minus
Kill good words and deeds.

Salesman
Salesman, where you gonna go?
To sell all your of your goods today
Salesman, gonna walk along the street, see friends along the way
Well salesman, with your wooden cart that you push along while you walk
Hey, salesman, got a little dog whose tail wags when you talk
You always wear a smile, even though youve gotta walk ten miles
Short lifespan, goodtime salesman
Yep, yep salesman got it on the street, whether its hot or cold
Its salesman, well, you work real hard,
Until every part is sold
Salesman as the years go by,
People changing every day
Hey, salesman til the end of time youll be livin in the same way
You always wear a smile, you love em fast and you live wild
Short life span, but aint life grand?
Copper kettles, different kinds of tin
There goes salesman and hes sailing high again
Hes sailing so high, high, sailing so high...
Salesman where you gonna go to sell all of your goods today
Yup, salesman, gonna walk along the street, see friends along the way
Hey, salesman, with your wooden cart that you push along while you walk
Hey, salesman with your secret goods that you push while you talk
You always wear a smile,
Even though youve gotta walk a hundred ten miles
Short life span - but the whole things grand
Salesman...
Now, well, I tried the one that you put it in and you have to do it
Manually. but Id like the one that you just plug it in and it does it all
By itself in a real long strand and you cut em up. its easier to do it
That way because, well, I put all the stuff in there and it keeps flippin
Out. and I cant get the thing to stick together anything. coupled with
The fact that I have to stick two of them together to even get on out of it
And they always end up lookin like lucky strikes.

The Lark ON the Clerk
Blushingly blotches the mark
over the spot.
Itchingly wrestles the clerk,
scratching a lot.
What a lark
is it not
in the dark
in his cot?
But the mark
on the clerk
all remark
comforts not...
Cheerfully carols the lark
Over the cot.
Merrily whistles the clerk
scratching a blot.
But the lark
And the clerk
I remark,
Comfort me not!

Plus Minus Of Death
PLUS MINUS OF DEATH
esspeecee …July,95
Am anxious
Will my final farewell
Be alike minus
Or plus?
If minus
I in my inner me
Will be
Obsessively oblivious.
If plus
I in my subtle I
Will enjoy
Being Conscious.
True taste pleasant
Of death
Come and pass
Not in rupturous haste.
O’ sweet death
You’re vivid
Like life’s faith.

A Dog of Few Words
A clerk said, 'Next in line - this way.'
A dog spoke up, 'I guess I am.'
'What can we do for you today? '
'I want to send a telegram.'
The clerk handed the dog a note.
'You'll have to write it out somehow.'
The dog took pen in teeth and wrote,
'Bow wow wow, bow wow wow, bow wow.'
The clerk read what the dog had penned.
'One to ten words have the same fees.'
'There's eight words now, so you can send'
'Another 'bow wow' if you please.'
'No, ' the dog said, 'Just between us, '
'One more would sound ridiculous.'
The word but
Saying ‘I like you but…’
She means ‘I don’t like you.’
‘But’ is minus that multiplies
All the pluses into minus.

Maths In The Park (For Marzena)
Park divided by ducks is standard
Dogs plus leads is dictatorship
Sun minus light is evening
Eyes multiplied by hair is laughter
Love minus pity is selfless
Affection multiplied by love is adoration
Hate minus passion is military
Devotion divided by sense is religion
The world divided by humanity is paradise.

He Is Just a Salesman
Mom, there is a man at our door
He wants to talk to you.
The man was weary
His hair was like hay
His face was wrinkled
But a pair of eyes of steel.
Mom was angry
Go play in your room son,
He is just a salesman.
Salesman, didn't I tell you never to come again?
The man said,
Mom is right son,
I sold a heart to your mom long long ago
She promised one back but never paid
Now I want to sell another for free,
She will not allow me now.

The Book Of Numbers
These cheque book eyes that peer on out
With fifty four long years in train
Would beg the question, steeped in doubt:
‘Are balances brought home the same? ’
Are books of columns kept somewhere
With costs and profits to each name,
Does some laborious clerk inscribe
Each fall from grace, each cry of pain?
And is there some huge reference book,
A million pages long that gives
A code to score each passing thought,
To digitise each man that lives?
A ten for love that long survives
Its primal urge, a minus four
For each divorce, and minus three
For every child brought down, of course.
And how would grief be costed out?
A point for every tear or sigh,
Or nine to cover hearts of lead
That freeze in pain, but cannot cry.
For hope, ambition, faith and need
Are these the same for every man,
Or do the rich regain the creed
While poor men spill their lives like sand.
These cheque book eyes that peer on out
With fifty four long years in train
Appraise the wreckage of my life:
‘Are balances brought home the same? ’

The whole mystery of temptation is to have sins suggested to us, and to be swept after them by a sudden enthusiasm, which sometimes feels as strong as the Spirit of God ever made in us the enthusiasm for virtue.

The Chronicles of a Criss Crossed and Broken Heart part 2 Seven
Seven, may be more... eight minus one
this battle is far from one
got one goal and lost what matters
as my mind shatters and scatters and shatters
This way and that each piece this way and that
no i don't have time for causerie
no chat
don't talk to me...
I am sorry seven.... i never wanted this or that
and this is never what i thought it would be this is not the halcyon end
this time i can't mend
my heart this time/..... too far
this time no light of star
can a heart survive eight minus one
i don't think i can take a ton
so am i dead or numb
its my actions that led here
i am so dumb to call anyone my dear
criss crossed, broken
my heart feels opened and the important life blood feels taken
if you got hurt i never meant
to hurt anyone i accidentally sent
my heart... seven now i pay the price 8 tortures minus 1 means 7 is tortured

Vice President, Chauffeur, Butler In One Day
It was the year 1989,
I was in my twenties looking quite fine,
older man Dave would use pen to sign,
contract to prevent envelope co.
from printing my greeting card Valentine.
Harvey who wrote “Swim with the Sharks”
had a salesman I left scared in the dark.
Salesman didn’t really know,
contract that says not to show.
To make this happen
I went to the Secretary of State,
Incorporated under
Sue Chevalier Originals
as the name.
Then I bought a suit for big tall Dave,
made him my
Vice President, Chauffeur, Butler
all in one day.
Driving down highway 280 we did get lost,
but luckily we found the envelope office.
Company door handle was in big gold letter M,
I walked through it with Dave my friend.
Going into a board room with world map on the wall,
sitting at a large board room table amazed with it all.
Then salesman walks in with himself and no pen,
I pull out a fancy one which I did lend.
Then Dave, salesman and me all did sign,
a Confidentiality Agreement sealing this date in time!
Laughing with a Score representative whose retired & old,
he said “Envelope co. can’t touch my designs with a 10 foot pole.”
