The more books we read, the clearer it becomes that the true function of a writer is to produce a masterpiece and that no other task is of any consequence.

My dream was to be known as a writer and to be able to produce at least one book that would be read by people. That dream came true with the publication of my first novel - and all the rest has been a sweet bonus.

Paperback Writer
(LennonMcCartney)
Paperback writer
Dear Sir or Madam, will you read my book?
It took me years to write, will you take a look?
It's based on a novel by a man named Lear
And I need a job, so I want to be a paperback writer

It's the dirty story of a dirty man
And his clinging wife doesn't understand
His son is working for the Daily Mail
It's a steady job but he wants to be a paperback writer

It could make a million for you overnight
If you must return it, you can send it here
But I need a break and I want to be a paperback writer

I always carry lots of stuff with me wherever I roam, always weighted down with books, with cassettes, with pens and paper, just in case I get the urge to sit down somewhere, and oh, I don't know, read something or write my masterpiece.

Never Mind Books
Books are forces,
They are resources,
His mind just deserves,
And it contains and preserves
You, the writer of need
Who wrote the books to read.
Listen again and again
To the speaker of words
Of phrases that strain
The mind of lords
Who speak as well
And listen to the bell.

A Poem Is...
A poem is a set of thoughts some writer may express,
Such that with these as his cohorts, who knows if he will bless?
Yet if he does, then shake his hand and pat him on the back!
If not, then banish from this land, or else give him the sack!
A poem is a set insight some writer may relay,
That helps to pass some stormy night or some cold rainy day...
If not, a night without a storm, a day with sunshine filled,
It matters not if hot, cold, warm, as long as we are thrilled...
A poem is a set of themes some writer thinks as wise,
Enough to share with us his dreams with reams before our eyes...
As if to serve some higher will, or merely help his tribe,
Ten years may pass, yet he writes still, as if some royal scribe...
A poem is a precious gift, some writer's masterpiece,
Through which the reader has to sift, its nuggets to release...
Or else it's just some words that rhyme, or unrhymed phrases penned,
In either case, was it sublime, as if a brand new friend?
A poem is a talent shared, fresh-written or in books
And thus with others is compared as each new reader looks...
Anthologies are all the rage! That's where my poems are!
You see, in time, I reached the stage when I became a star!
So read my poems here and there! Reflect on old and new,
If you like them, then say a prayer, because I've prayed for you...
That you may find my treasure trove, my love-filled legacy,
My talent meant to bless us both... for all eternity...

Hey hey take it from me shes a masterpiece
Stone cold in love with you

Youre a work of art, my darlin
You are the one I adore
You choose the role to star in
Youve got the part - Im all yours
My hearts in perpetual motion
When you make love with me
Beats so hard we reach an explosion
Of sensuality
You are poetry - I read your lips
They say just kiss me darling
The way you move - the way you speak
I got to have you cos Im stone cold
Hey hey take it from me shes a masterpiece
Stone cold in love with you
She ought to have her own show
Oh stone cold
Hey hey take it from me shes a masterpiece
Stone cold in love with you
Could you be ? or van gough
You want it all - you got it
You take the cake coz you wrote the recipe
You hit the mark
Spot on it
We make the grade coz we got the chemistry
Surfin high on the waves of emotion
When you make love with me
8 miles high and deep as the ocean
Thats how big love should be
Youre a masterpiece - youre made for me
I just couldnt live without you
Say what you want - say what you need
Ill get it for you cos Im stone cold
Hey hey take it from me shes a masterpiece
Im stone cold in love with you
She ought to have her own show
Well stone cold
Hey hey take it from me shes a masterpiece
Im stone cold in love with you
Could you be ? or van gough
My hearts in perpetual motion
When you make love with me
Beats so hard we reach an explosion

They say just kiss me darling
The way you move - the way you speak
I got to have you cos Im stone cold

A Love To Read
Is it a misconception,
That writers read...
Other writers' works?
Or reads extensively at all?
Afterall...
When would a true writer,
Find time to get that done...
If one has a love to read?
And...
I am not that one to say,
A reading AND a writing done...
Is an impossibility.
Because I read what I write often.
Regularly and on a daily basis.

Literary Masterpiece
Rocked up at work, all confused,
we discussed books we loved as
kids, Hanlie reminiscences about
Bible and Vicky Villard Stories - I
recall a garage stacked with book-
club detective novels, hands killing
victims by giving them a fright in the
night, she read comic books at school
We got gargantuan amounts of photo-
books from grandma De Lange while
grandma Alice subscribed to Reader's
Digest, we read Shangri-La and Beau
Geste so condensed - they lacked all
fire and spice, only an outline left, then
I tried tackling a document, International
Warrant of Arrest - my mind wandering
Listening to an André Rieu DVD playing
because cold silence punctuated by the
tapping of keyboards is a symbol of the
end of all life; with Carmen and Zorba on
my earphones engaging my heart, I shall
try again to relay the quaint legalese of the
warrant of arrest - a literary masterpiece

I read true crime books, and I read when people do case studies of stuff. I'm into books like that. Case studies or forensics or murder - all that good stuff.
What a Writer Has to Say
It baffles my understanding.
Why would one writer
Ask from another
To give an opinion of what has been created?
It baffles my understanding.
How separate experiences...
With no connection,
Can be thought related?
It baffles my understanding.
When a request is made...
To have another writer read,
And rate
What a writer has to say!
As if what is said...
Would change thoughts
In another's head.
Or expand a point of view.
Isn't that what readers often do...
When they wish to expand their insights too!
But when a writer writes...
Shouldn't those visions,
Be the ones writers pursue?
As narrow or as broad...
With an imagination left,
Unrestricted to cruise!
I am baffled by this...
'Read me, please!
And rate me', business...
Persisted and enlisted.
