George Eliot

I don't believe one grows older. I think that what happens early on in life is that at a certain age one stands still and stagnates.

Life's Sadness Does Not Fade

Life's sadness does not fade-
It grows greater in time-
Older and no wiser
We weep for our earlier days,
And remember all we have lost
And have not been-

So much has happened
And we have achieved so little in it all-
And so much Beauty and Goodness is gone
And so many people we loved.

Life's Sadness does not fade
It grows greater in time-

Older and no wiser,
We play our games with words and thoughts and feelings,
But the Sadness remains and grows.

Early in the Spring

Early in the spring
Not a leaf has struck the ground
The swallow has yet to sing
And the plowmen are no where to be found

Early in the spring
The forest stands still
And no creature dare come out
Before the sun rises o’er the hill

Early in the spring
The valley holds the morning dew
And its serenity may be captured
By only a certain few

Early in the spring
The trees turn, brown to green
Many changes occur
But few can be seen

Early in the spring
Or in the latter of fall
No matter the change of season
The evergreen stands tall

There She Stands

When the night
Seems to say
All hope is lost
Gone away
But I know
I'm not alone
By the light
She stands
There she waves
Faithful friend
Shimmering stars
Westward wind
Show the way
Carry me
To the place
She stands
Just when you think it might be over
Just when you think the fight is gone
Someone will risk his life to raise her
There she stands
There she flies
Clear blue skies
Reminds us with red
Of those that died
Washed in white
By the grave
In their strength
She stands
When evil calls itself a martyr
When all your hopes come crashing down
Someone will pull her from the rubble
There she stands
We've seen her flying torn and tattered
We've seen her stand the test of time
And through it all the fools have fallen
There she stands
By the dawn's
Early light
And through the fight
She stands

Getting Older

it's nine o'clock
i'm getting tired
i'm sick of all my records
and the clothes i bought today
am i cracking up
or just getting older?

staying in
i can't be bothered
making conversation
with the friends that i don't know
am i cracking up
or just getting older?

and i bet that this is how life
turns out when you're finally grown
and you know if this my life
sit around all day on my own

i'm halfway up to the bottom
of another bottle
of my next best favourite friend
am i cracking up
or just getting older?
you're not cracking up
you're just getting older
we're not cracking up
we're just getting older

Everyone Is Growing Older

Between warring Countries hostilities do not last
And 'tis true your friend of tomorrow may be your foe of the past
But life goes on as usual that's how it seems to be
And we make friends with the old foe to fight our new common enemy
And everyone grows older but few grow wise and gray
For we still glorify the folly of war in the World of today
And we find things in common when we have a common foe
But as we do grow older few of us do wiser grow,
We celebrate war heroes to die in war is not seen as a sin
And when one war it is over another war begin
To use the name of God in war seems hypocritical that would seem fair to say
And to Moses fifth commandment respect we never pay
Crimes of hate and xenophobia sad to say are on the rise
And everyone is growing older but so few are growing wise.

Selfish

When we are young,
we are selfish
and want all the fruit on the tree.
As we grow older
we respect everything that is there,
and only want a little
of what stands before us there.
We become unselfish
and the word is replaced with share.
As we grow, older
all we want to do is share.

Older And Older Into More Darkness And Loneliness

OLDER AND OLDER INTO MORE DARKNESS AND LONELINESS

Older and older into more darkness and loneliness,
The friends are not here.

Life has so much grief and pain
Will we ever see them again?
Could we have been kinder?

Less without them, we long and go on.

It Is You I Dream Of

a flower grows from beneath a blanket
of fine and purest white
it reaches toward the sun for warmth
for heat and for the light

my love for you grows stronger still
despite the surrounding cold
my heart is yours, bartered gone
for yours has it been sold

its petals shine from morning dew
its stem grows stiff and strong
it stands strong through the freezing cold
it stands the winter long

i long for you, for your soft touch
i miss the way you smile
the longer that we stay apart
the longer every mile

the flower stretches through the snow
it reaches toward the sun
and now without you the color is gone
the flower's petals, done

but as we talk, and as we learn
the flower comes back to life
the snow now melts and goes away
as you take away my strife

spring is here and growth abounds
as you and i are one
we are together, we are in love
the snow for now is done

i see the future, in dreams i have
of our life, long and true
i see the times where all i need
are comforting words from you

i see the times when winter comes
as winter tends to do
but we still love, and we still live
and i do still love you

Sad

sad...
man grows old too soon
even when the whole world
stands there afresh to remind him
of a birth
every day
every minute
every second
as a new birth
sad indeed....
man grows old too soon

Early In The Morning

Early in the morning and I cant get right
Had a little date with my baby last night
Now its early in the morning (early in the morning)
Well its early in the morning (early in the morning)
Now its early in the morning
And I aint got nothing but the blues
Went to all the places where we used to go
Went to your house but you dont live there no more
Now its early in the morning (early in the morning)
Well its early in the morning (early in the morning)
Early in the morning
And I aint got nothing but the blues
Went to your friends house but she was out
Knock on your fathers door and he began to shout get out there boy
Early in the morning (early in the morning)
Early in the morning (early in the morning)
Early in the morning
And I aint got nothing but the blues
Went to doogie chain to get something to eat
Waiter looked at me and said you sure look beat
Now its early in the morning (early in the morning)
Early in the morning (early in the morning)
Well its early in the morning
And I aint got nothing but the blues
Well its early in the morning
And I aint got nothing but the blues
Well its early in the morning
And I aint got nothing but the blues

An Old Eagle.

An Eagle Stands on the top of cliff,
Waiting for a way West Wind,
It stands so long in waiting,
Just for the wind to come.

The right wind comes,
This eagle feels so lonely to start flying,
It is ready to fly six thousand miles away,
How a long and lonely journey to go?

Suddenly it wants to give up a great dream.
How a great eagle will struggle on its way?
Why it did not do it earlier and younger?
The right wind passes vainly with no use.

The pitiful eagle is growing older and older.
What will be the next great job for this eagle?
Oh poor eagle, take it easy don’t look up so high.
You are not the new hero at nowadays.

Suddenly a way west wind blows pass,
that only brings you a loneliness.
