Food For Thought

The squirrel that finds an acorn,
Does he really know
the power that the acorn has
if let alone to grow?

It grows into a mighty oak
for the squirrel to scamper on,
until the fall arrives once more
when all the leaves are gone.

It's then the powerful acorn
is dug up once again
to repeat the yearly ritual
by our bushy-tailed little friend.

The Acorn

An acorn swung
On an oak-tree bough;
So long it had hung,
It would fain fall now
To the kindly earth,
That its germ within
Might burst into birth,
And its life begin.

And the autumn came
With its burning hand,
And each leaf grew a flame,
And each bough a brand.
And a worm came up
And began to eat
Though the hard, dry cup
To the acorn sweet.

And the acorn thought,
“I shall soon see now
The life I have sought,
When I fall from the bough;
For the worm gnaws through
Each tendon slight,
That about me grew,
And bound me tight.”

And with dying day
Came the zephyr’s sound;
And the acorn lay
Next morn on the ground;
But its germ was gone
By the worm’s sharp teeth;
And the ground it had won
Was its grave in death.

#34

Oh, my head lay back on the seating
Been so tired, throw away my surrounding
Like the sun and moon take for granted
Soon we move through the flood and we fade away
Lie about it,
Cry about it,
Well be ok
Lean upon me,
Ill lean upon you,
Well be okay
Oh, I lay myself at your feet laughing
Hope mine eye made of the soul choir
Lean upon me,
Ill lean upon you,
Well be okay
Lie about it,
Cry about it,
Soon fade away
Lie about it,
Cry about it,
Well be okay
Lean upon me,
Ill lean upon you,
Well be okay

Understanding

Oh you mighty oak
from the acorn did you spring.
And so you grew slowly
from so small a thing.
Your magnificent stature
brings to mind
how I can hold you
in an acorn I find.

And the beauty of you
I can hold in my hand.
And maybe that's the way
God has planned
to connect my soul
with an oak so tall
that I'll understand
as in all God's things
I am really not that small.

Lean On You

The firt step to heaven
I will take in my life
I am not afraid when
I can hold you tight
If there must be an answer
Then there must be a prayer
And you must be the angel
When youre standing there
So I lean on you, I lean on you
My life is such a statement
Of my hopes and despairs
But nothing really matters
Just as long as youre there
You love me such honesty,
You love with no gain
You speak to me so tender
And you never explain
So I lean on you, I lean on you
My baby she cares
Its so easy to do
My baby she tells me what to do
She always tells me the truth
My baby she cares
Its so easy to do
My baby knows what Im gonna do
Thats why I lean on you
I dream of an island,
Of a fantasy place
Where I can go to sometimes
And nobody can trace
Well such is the nature,
The nature of love
That when we dream it
Sometimes means that we need love
So I lean on you, I lean on you
My baby she cares
Its so easy to do
My baby she tells me what to do
She always tells me the truth
My baby she cares
Its so easy to do
My baby knows what Im gonna do
Thats why I lean on you
So I lean on you, I lean on you
I lean on you, so I lean on you
(repeat chorus)

I Am He

I am he,
Spoke the acorn to the tree
Said the flower to the seed
Replied the wind to the breeze
And standing up in awe
Stood an oak tree standing tall
And below his roots did lie
The acorn who did cry
That I am he.
Like the wind who fathers the breeze
Or the flower, who nourishes the seed
To grow up and be like he
I am he.
I am he said the father to the sky
And the stars in the night
To his son that he held
To become like himself
And I am he.

I am he
Said the raven to its young
And the bear to its cub
And the wind to the breeze
That I am he.
And looking up in belief
Lied an acorn from a tree
From which that it had fallen
Knowing he had been calling’
To be like he.
So, I am he
Like the father is the child
And the flower is the seed
The raindropp to the sea
I am he!
And he is me
Replied the oak tree to the seed.

Lean On Me-Live

Enough lies
Were all helping
We all help in sorrow
But if we are wise
We know that theres allways tomorrow
Lean on me
When youre not strong
Ill be your strenght
Ill help you carry on
For it wont be long
til Im gonna need somebody to lean on
Just call on me brother
When you need a hand
We all need somebody to lean on
I just might have a problem that youd understand
We all need somebody to lean on
Lean on me
When youre not strong
Ill be your strenght
Ill help you carry on
For it wont be long
til Im gonna need somebody to lean on
Lean on me
When youre not strong
Ill be your strenght
Ill help you carry on
For it wont be long
til Im gonna need somebody to lean on

Let Me Lean Hard

Let me lean hard upon the Eternal Breast;
In all earth's devious ways, I sought for rest
And found it not. I will be strong, said I,
And lean upon myself. I will not cry
And importune all heaven with my complaint,
But not my strength fails, and I fall, I faint:
Let me lean hard.

Let me lean hard upon the unfailing Arm.
I said I will walk on, I fear no harm,
The spark divine within my soul will show
The upward pathway where my feet should go,
But now the heights to which I msot aspire
Are lost in clouds. I stumble and I tire;
Let me lean hard.

Let me lean harder yet. That swerveless force
Which speeds the solar systems on their course
Can take, unfelt, the burden of my woe,
Which bears me to the dust and hurts me so;
I thought my strength enough for any fate,
But lo! I sink beneath my sorrow's weight:
Let me lean hard.

Lean On Me

Heavy burden on your shoulder
Lean on me
Heavy burden on your shoulder
Lean on me
Heavy burden on your shoulder
Everyday just a little bit harder
Heavy burden on your shoulder
Lean on me
Down and out without hope
Lean on me
Down and out without hope
Lean on me
Down and out without hope
Im right here, Ill help you cope
Down and out without hope
Lean on me
Grab a rope and pull me in
But lean on me
Everyday, youll have a friend
But lean on me
Grab a rope, pull me in
Everyday youll have a friend
Grab a rope
In the world, ? ?
And if youre looking for a rainy day friend
Well grab a rope, pull me in
Lean on me
Heavy burden cloudy skies
Lean on me
Ill be the ? ? of weeping eyes
But lean on me
If you always feels like rain
All youve got in life is pain
Heavy burden, go away
Oh... , goodbye
Heavy burden, on you shoulder
Lean on me

Little Fugue In "G"

(Lawrence Gowan)
Get your eyes open wide
And take a good look there outside
You're not here to be denied
Let them have it
Sail them rivers, fly those skies
Thirty-thousand suns to rise
And among them your true love lies
You're gonna find it
Little Face
Little Face
You got big things coming
Bigger than you ever dreamed
Little Face
Little Face
I am beside you running
On this good ol' boy you can lean
You can lean
See Little Face I understand
I won't force you on command
You can meet your own demands
And I will help you
See Little Face
Little Face
We got big things coming
Bigger than you ever dreamed
Little Face
Little Face
I am beside you running
On this good ol' boy you can lean
You can lean
And if the law should ever catch you
Doing things you shouldn't ought to do
Count on me to raise your ball 'cause
I've done worse than you could ever do
Little Face
Little Face
I ame beside you running
On this ol' boy you can lean
You can lean
You can lean right here
Little Face

September Morn

I watch the World around me
As again I hear nature call
For it is the end of summertime
And the awakening of a beautiful fall.
The leaves have changed their colors
The skies became icy white
My heart becomes exceedingly joyful
At Septembers, beautiful sight.
The rustling wind has turned to cold
The leaves have changed to brown
This moment, I pray to hold
As the leaves fall onto the ground.
The squirrels scurry from their trees
The birds have all flown away
It is another September morning
I feel it with each step that I take.
With a cold wind against my back
I journey to a great tree
To pick up the jewels that she left there
An acorn, and a lonely leaf.
I shiver as I walk
With a leaf and acorn in hand
I watch fall as it arrives around me,
So happy is this man.
I then walk up unto my wife
I present her with the leaf and acorn
So happy I am with this fall,
That I give Her my September morn.

Headed For The Future

Written by: neil diamond, tom hensley and alan lindgren
Hey, were headed for the future
Give us some room
Were gonna build a new world
Say, were headed for the future
Give us some time
Were gonna make it work right
Yeah, were gonna build a new dream
Weve got to make it stand tall
Its got to last a long time
Lean on me
And Im gonna lean on you
Were headed for the future
And the futures now
Show you how
Yeah, were headed for a new place
A step at a time
Were gonna take a long ride
Time dont wait around forever
Weve got to do it right now
Lets do it all together
Lean on me
And Im gonna lean on you
Were headed for the future
And the futures now
Show you how
Lean on me
Cause Im gonna lean on you
Were headed for the future
Come on, lean on me
And Im gonna lean on you
Were headed for the future
And the futures ours
Come on, come on
Come on, come on
Come on, come on
Yeah

Emily Dickinson

One Year ago—jots what?

296

One Year ago—jots what?
God—spell the word! I—can't—
Was't Grace? Not that—
Was't Glory? That—will do—
Spell slower—Glory—

Such Anniversary shall be—
Sometimes—not often—in Eternity—
When farther Parted, than the Common Woe—
Look—feed upon each other's faces—so—
In doubtful meal, if it be possible
Their Banquet's true—

I tasted—careless—then—
I did not know the Wine
Came once a World—Did you?
Oh, had you told me so—
This Thirst would blister—easier—now—
You said it hurt you—most—
Mine—was an Acorn's Breast—
And could not know how fondness grew
In Shaggier Vest—
Perhaps—I couldn't—
But, had you looked in—
A Giant—eye to eye with you, had been—
No Acorn—then—

So—Twelve months ago—
We breathed—
Then dropped the Air—
Which bore it best?
Was this—the patientest—
Because it was a Child, you know—
And could not value—Air?

If to be "Elder"—mean most pain—
I'm old enough, today, I'm certain—then—
As old as thee—how soon?
One—Birthday more—or Ten?
Let me—choose!
Ah, Sir, None!

I Need Somebody To Lean On

(words & music by pomus - shuman)
I need somebody to lean on
I need somebody to tell my troubles to
No use denying, Im close to cryin
But what good, tell me what good would my crying do
I need somebody to help me
Help me forget all those worries on my mind
And when Im lonely, if someone would only
Want to be sweet and kind
I need somebody, wont that somebody
Please, please listen to my plea
Need that somebody, wont that somebody
Come running to me
I need somebody to lean on
Im tired of being unhappy and so blue
If she came I would hold her cause I need that shoulder
To lean on, yes I really do
I need somebody, and maybe that somebody is you
Mmmmmmm

Chipmunks Confusion

Chipmunk
Tail held high
Sprints across the street
On the fly -
To get to the other side
His only goal
There to dive
In another hole -
But wait,
Half way across
His small attention span
Gets lost -
The aroma of an acorn
Lingers upon the center line
With just one sweet sniff
He knows what he must find -
Turning
With the street
Several cars
He does meet -
Dodging them all
In and out
Strictly by chance
Blindly following his commanding snout -
Desire rules
Over fear for death's sake
Find the acorn
Whatever it takes -
At length
Circling full around
Back to where he started
In his own abode, under the ground -
Silly
He thinks to self,
That seductive sweet scent
Was the nut, here, on my own home shelf -
... So, back out
Once more he goes
Resuming his daily routine
Of crossing the road -
