The simplest principles become difficult of practice, when habits, formed in error, have been fixed by time, and the simplest truths hard to receive when prejudice has warped the mind.

There are some things which cannot be learned quickly, and time, which is all we have, must be paid heavily for their acquiring. They are the very simplest things and because it takes a man's life to know them the little new that each man gets from life is very costly in the only heritage he has to leave.

Simplest things in life
Sin is like coffee
the joy of it only last a minute or two
and the taste of it drags you in to the last dropp
This is why some of the most simplest things
are so addicting,
so remember this in life

Father, we thank you, especially for letting me fly this flight - for the privilege of being able to be in this position, to be in this wondrous place, seeing all these many startling, wonderful things that you have created.

From The Beginning
from the beginning things are too simple
each creature has no name
they know each other by the sound
and smell and the simplest glance ever
eye to eye
gives the needed peace
love and compassion

When we recall the past, we usually find that it is the simplest things - not the great occasions - that in retrospect give off the greatest glow of happiness.
If the sight of the blue skies fills you with joy, if the simplest things of nature have a message that you understand, rejoice, for your soul is alive.

My Brave Face
My brave face.
Ive been living in style
Unaccustomed as I am to the luxury life.
Ive been hitting the town and it didnt hit back.
Ive been doing the rounds
Unaccustomed as I am to the time on my hands.
Now I dont have to tell anybody when Im gonna get back.
Ever since you went away Ive had this sentimental
Inclination not to change a single thing.
As I pull the sheets back on the bed I want to go bury my head
In your pillow.
Chorus:
Now that Im alone again, I cant stop breaking down again,
The simplest things set me off again
And take me to that place
Where I cant find my brave face
Where I cant find my brave face
My brave, my brave, my brave face.
Ive been living a lie
Unaccustomed as I am
To the work of a housewife,
Ive been breaking up
Dirty dishes and throwing them away.
Ever since you left I have been trying to
Compose a baby will you please come home note
Meant for you.
As I clear away another
Untouched tv dinner
From the table I laid for two.
Now that Im alone again
I cant stop breaking down again,
The simplest things set me off again
And take me to that place
Where I cant find my brave face,
Where I cant find my brave face,
My brave, my brave, my brave face.
My brave face.

Objectified
All beautiful things meet their demise
Flowers in bloom surely will die
Frozen are the wings of the dead butterfly
Because all beautiful things meet their demise
All beautiful things meet their demise
Clouds of gray spoil the light of the skies
The ocean must fall in order to rise
Because all beautiful things meet their demise
All beautiful things meet their demise
I knew I was doomed when you first said, “Hi.”
Two ships in the night, we were bound to collide
Because all beautiful things meet their demise
All beautiful things meet their demise
Four months can pass in the blink of an eye
We lose ourselves without having to try
Because all beautiful things meet their demise
All beautiful things meet their demise
The simplest words become hard to define
You can’t see the truth when you cover your eyes
Because all beautiful things meet their demise
All beautiful things meet their demise
Your pay the price to take this ride
Slowly, you find that you’re living a lie
Because all beautiful things meet their demise
All beautiful things meet their demise
Pictures of us will fade over time
We become strangers in a world so wide
Because all beautiful things meet their demise
All beautiful things meet their demise
You’ll keep on searching for what you won’t find
You’ll lose your faith while I lose my mind
Because all beautiful things meet their demise
All beautiful things meet their demise
Sometimes your morals get left behind
It will be too late when you realize
Because all beautiful things meet their demise

The Hazards Of Poetics
i have learned to face the hazards of
poetics
when all the bright colors are mixed
everything turns black
just like the brightness of my days
it blinded me
when all have been too indirect
to create these unnecessary mysteries
that i do not really need
when flowers sometimes turn to steel
when dreams become concrete roads
when the house is turned upside down
when the the car turns turtle and falls
on a cliff and keeps on hanging there
when you finally find yourself calling for help
and when you practically do not like
what these fools are doing with words
and stanzas when there is nothing left
but more questions without answers
because life itself is absurd and shies
away from definitions and boundaries
between meaning and feeling
it is then that i bite my tongue and
keep my silence it is then when
my fingers declare that they have mouths
and shout: it is enough all i need are the
simplest of all the simplest things
i only need a yawn to make me sleep
a little sleep to make me dream and
a piece of blanket to cover my nakedness

Becoming a father, I think it inevitably changes your perspective of life. I don't get nearly enough sleep. And the simplest things in life are completely satisfying. I find you don't have to do as much, like you don't go on as many outings.

Body Mine
This solar system mobile
slowly rotates
moved by a tiny breeze
I imagined just might
come from me below
breathing.
This was the silence of me.
The blank day was still
as the inside of a deep vault
no sound outside
no sound from within.
I sank into the moment;
my breathing muting itself
wanting to see
how comfortable
I was with the me
lying there.
Stillness is a severe test.
Then a quiet shudder
as I allowed an exhale longer
and deeper than usual,
this first shudder then
followed by another.
And another.
Breathing seemed to direct
my very being to another space
and my Body Being
in this circumstance
roused itself
came out
and displayed
its secret existence
which I
I realized
I ignore most of my life.
Startling to feel
Startling to realize
my thoughts leapt
to the idea
that this body was alive
separate from my mind
and had it own needs
goals and direction.
Startling to realize
that this my body
is alive in its own
right, separate from
me or my mind
but had separate Being.
I'd always thought that
aliveness was somehow
seated in my mind.
It and I talked.
It and I conversed
but what I thought
in that moment
did my body have to say?
What language does it speak?
I realized
had regarded it as a machine
to be feed or fueled
but not an entity
with its own Ideas.
For example,
does insecurity
lie in the mind
in the brain
or in the body?
What is a body idea
anyway, separate from
my head?
Can a body dream?
All of this was startling
and to this day
I'm still seeking answers
to questions
with more questions still.
Where does my mind start
and my body end?
Not sure.
but one thing is clear
bodies domain
is sexual;
and it wants to live.
