It is astonishing what force, purity, and wisdom it requires for a human being to keep clear of falsehoods.

Genius is nothing more than common faculties refined to a greater intensity. There are no astonishing ways of doing astonishing things. All astonishing things are done by ordinary materials.

Purity And Faith

I want to perfect my purity
But faith can keep it too.
To create stars of wizardry
Requires healing to ensue.
Gracious solemnity finds us,
We want pure men to be solemn
And so wisdom shall ensue.
I want you to learn with realness,
I desire the perfect answer.

Dangerous Crime

Dangerous men walk for the reasons known to mankind,
Their manhood is derived from active thinking and strategy;
If they walk then talking and getting ahead of others comes to the senses,
Munching cigarettes is appalling, too many are beguiled by addiction.
Then, the alleys are safer when they are not, when they skilfully require mercy,
Roads must come with vehicles, with trucks of enormous strength
To run over the dangerous criminals who pervert the course of civilisation.
Dangerous men talk like business of a higher force, the very truth behind them,
It requires somebody’s insult, it requires somebody’s force,
And then the police arrive at their doorstep, forcing an arrest.

The Gaiety Of Reflection

'Irony is the gaiety
of reflection
and the joy of wisdom.'

Anatole France (1844-1924)

ON that clear day
on that clear
pond
i see the face of irony
it is myself
and it is not myself
both
in the paradox
of belief and
disbelief

there is joy
in the wisdom
of acceptance
in the domain
of my own
laughter having
seen
what i am
and what i am not
what i ought to be
and what
i want to be
it makes sense
in this
loneliness.

Carl Sagan

If we continue to accumulate only power and not wisdom, we will surely destroy ourselves. Our very existence in that distant time requires that we will have changed our institutions and ourselves. How can I dare to guess about humans in the far future? It is, I think, only a matter of natural selection. If we become even slightly more violent, shortsighted, ignorant, and selfish than we are now, almost certainly we will have no future.

Have You the Will

Have you the will…
To do nothing?
Have you the courage
To let Nature take it’s course?

Have you the freedom
Of just letting things happen
Of giving free rein
To fickle fate’s force?

That oftimes, the act
Of doing nothing…
Is the quintessential essence
Of what one should do?

And is the essential art in
The knowing when to do nothing
Can only be parsed out
By you?

To stand back
To not meddle
to not enter in
nor try to enforce

Sometimes situations requires…
The will to do nothing…and
The wisdom and courage
to let nature take it’s course

It always seems easier
To aid and abet
Than to stand back
And do nothing…and yet

Let them stand tall
Permit them to founder and fall
For Sometimes doing nothing
Is something…you’ll ne’er regret

When God Is Angry

Have you seen the earth turn against it's inhabitants?
Or the earth become a line?
Has the earth ever lost it's gravitational force?
Or it's frictional force?
Do you know that lightening could change directions?
And that rivers could be poisoned?
Do you know that arrows could be shot down from heaven?
Have you seen men crawl in hunger and ill health?
Or has the earth been smashed by two or more bigger planets?
Have you seen animals overthrow the human race?
Is it clear that the earth could swallow?
That fire knows locations of people and places?
That man is powerless before his God?
And could crush and vanish in a second?
Do you know...
...that man still wants to know
when God is angry

Ignoble Achievement

Conflicting ideals create chaos in the mind,
on the one hand, nobility of self-discipline
and virtue of patience - I tried to acquire
these virtues when I was small - and -

Found it impossible - on the other hand,
the spontaneity of creative fun, finding
happiness in unbridled activity; how to
reconcile dreams of Biblical discipline

With spontaneity - self-discipline requires the
sacrifice of short-term advantages and lesser
goals for long-term benefits, creating a need
for wisdom to know what are these – yet

Love, unconditional acceptance of what-is, still
is the highest ideal; though subject to insight,
knowing which deeds will benefit others and
which won’t – this requires quiet reflection

Violating the rights of others in serving our loved
ones always has bad effects because the means
simply becomes the end - using ignoble means
to achieve a noble purpose quickly degrades

The achievement to the ignoble also, the saddest
effect of any human deed - and -
where does this leave me?
