Eric Hoffer

However much we talk of the inexorable laws governing the life of individuals and of societies, we remain at the bottom convinced that in human affairs everything in more or less fortuitous. We do not even believe in the inevitability of our own death. Hence the difficulty of deciphering the present, of detecting the seeds of things to come as they germinate before our eyes. We are not attuned to seeing the inevitable.

Shadows And Light

Every picture has its shadows
And it has some source of light
Blindness, blindness and sight
The perils of benefactors
The blessings of parasites
Blindness, blindness and sight
Threatened by all things
Devil of cruelty
Drawn to all things
Devil of delight
Mythical devil of the ever-present laws
Governing blindness, blindness and sight
Suntans in reservation dining rooms
Pale miners in their lantern rays
Night, night and day
Hostage smile on presidents
Freedom scribbled in the subway
Its like night, night and day
Threatened by all things
God of cruelty
Drawn to all things
God of delight
Mythical God of the everlasting laws
Governing day, day and night
Critics of all expression
Judges in black and white
Saying its wrong, saying its right
Compelled by prescribed standards
Or some ideals we fight
For wrong, wrong and right
Threatened by all things
Man of cruelty-mark of cain
Drawn to all things
Man of delight-born again, born again
Man of the laws, the ever-broken laws
Governing wrong, wrong and right
Governing wrong, wrong and right
Wrong and right

Death, Inevitable Death

Death, inevitable Death.
So now You come to show Your world,
Hence the blackened cloak – unfurled.
And peering down upon my form
– Bereft of pity – Your eyes of storm.

Death, inexorable Death.
‘When? ’ The only question out of Thee.
My dream retorts 'But ne’er for me! ’
But now awake, I bid you so –
My giving tears cry ‘Where to go? ’

Death, adamant Death.
You cast Your spell and guide me 'way,
For life and I have had our day.
And what of me? I prey You, tell!
Be glorious in Heaven or gnarled in Hell?

Death, ineluctable Death.
Oh wiry ghoul, I'm here to follow –
I leave my body grey and shallow.
‘Come! ’ You bid in thund’ring tones,
‘Beg farewell to shattered bones.’

To They Who Are Hauted By The Spectre Of Death

Do not fear death because death is not to be feared.Death is the bride of every household therefore welcome her with open arms.Death is inevitable therefore do not deny yourself the pleasure of having a nice time while you're still alive.Death is a stage through which all of us must pass.Death is necessary and this old life would be very boring if we would all live forever.Accept the inevitability of death and die gratefully with less worry lines on your death mask, There are no worries in the other world and over there they offer you virgins to pamper you to compensate for your undeserved suffering in this world. Therefore be willing to die young and have a good looking corpse

Death ----- A New Life

Attacks --- Accentuates ---- Appall ---
Battles --- Bemuses ----- Bemoans --
Maims ---- Marred ----- Wastes ---
Dismembers -- Mangles ----- Devastates ---
Cold ----- Icy ------ Snow ----

Death the emperor of all truths---
Destructs the present consumed, consummate life
And grants a new life
Hence death the inevitable light-
The Destroyer and the Preserver---

The seed of a new life
Whose potential tree would be the taking body itself
Thus death isn't a death at all
But a new life.

Note: The process of death is described as it attacks, maims and finally devastates. It is a destroyer and a preserver since it endows a new life, killing the present one. Hence death isn't a death at all but a new life altogether.

Crazy Jane On God

That lover of a night
Came when he would,
Went in the dawning light
Whether I would or no;
Men come, men go;
All things remain in god.
All things remain in god.
Banners choke the sky;
Men-at-arms tread;
Armoured horses neigh
In the narrow pass:
All things remain in god.
All things remain in god.
I had wild jack for a lover;
Though like a road
That men pass over
My body makes no moan
But sings on:
All things remain in god.
All things remain in god.
Before their eyes a house
That from childhood stood
Uninhabited, ruinous,
Suddenly lit up
From door to top:
All things remain in god.
All things remain in god.
Oh, that lover of a night
Came when he would,
Went in the dawning light
Whether I would or no;
Men come, men go;
All things remain in god.
All things remain in god.
All things remain in god.
All things remain in god.
All things remain in god.
All things remain in god.

The Monetary Aryan Race

Mutual assured mass destruction.
With a reluctance we hold our self to a higher standard.
Their are not crimes in a war.
The war itself is the crime.
But not by laws of the governing standard.
But instead a moral obligation.
To resist the temptation to skip the peaceful negotiations.
As individuals we all want something.
But as a whole some of the things are just not a priority.
And the majority should be somewhat satisfied.
Yet in this I think many have failed.
For a self serving agenda.
How does it benefit me?
And if it doesn't why should I bother?
Because it is not about only you in the decisions that need to be made.
The bigger picture.
In and out of the box.
Ideas are slung around like guns being shot.
Most disregarded as not even worth looking at.
Because the name encircling it does not have any fame.
A entitlement is born not by genetics but who is his father,
who is his mother is.
How much money do they have?
Raising the right breed.
An monetary aryan race.
What a disgrace.
Yet it is very well embraced.
Why I do not know.
It should be by what you have done for the people.
It should be about in all things equal.
Business savy or not.
Should one really run a country like such.
This is why their all these issues we currently face.
Everyone knows the who.
Yet no one seems to know how to fix it.
Is their a cure to greed?
Their must be if us human beings want succeed.

Let Us Live

Life is more like life,
Death is a culture of the throat
And its power is quenching,
The soul masters the body when on arrival
Of death.
Ghosts are in death, and many are with us
To talk to about politics and governing the work
Of our professions.
These provide reputations, physical prowess,
And long distinctions
Always because of the ghost-like quality.
Let them disappear into the dawn,
Let’s laugh at the deadly living we are appalled by,
Letting merriment into our lives with flesh.
Life is more than death when faced with ourselves.

Nature Succeeds Where Man Fails

What seeds, I threw
across the window, grew
as custard apple saplings, fast,
surprising all who came and looked aghast
and wondered how miraculous things could happen thus!

The seeds within the bird-droppings
Find domes and steeples, gopurams,
To grow so well that people often ask,
‘Can plants grow without soil and only rain,
Deriving nutrition from merely air? ’

Yet, farmers till the ground until
Forehead sweat falls and rain and sun
Can’t germinate the seeds sown well,
As tears fill eyes as crops don’t grow:
‘O God, they cry, why are we so unblessed? ’

At times, man may not reap what he may sow,
Until God-blessed, allowed by God;
He knows what, when, how much to give
Each person, as he well deserves:
God’s words decide our labour’s fruit.

Moonlight Sonata

The cold winter can not destroy the miraculous invincible seeds.
The germination fundamentally changes them in the earth's maternity.
It is a new life running time when the cold snow irreversible recedes,
And a new spring embraces the deep mysteries of the magical fertility.

When the seeds germinate, they always throw out a few anchor roots.
Those splintered cracks of deep roots trying to hide inside the soils.
The tall trees need deep roots and branches to bloom and to bear fruits,
While the whole land receives and nurtures the life it essentially contains.

When the divine spark leaps from the divine hand to the human hand,
Making the human roots so deep as they can face the stormy time,
Moreover, taking an ultimate shape in the law of the very green land,
While life becomes a moonlight sonata, life which is always sublime.

Chasers Of Destinies

some mortals desire to know
more than mere fortunes
read from drained prophetic cup
held in hand of revealing

when sign symbol coffin is present
close upturn seal cup unread
manner of death reveal not
nor seen circumstances surrounding

this is no good fortune
to read or casually reveal
when the stork is present
why reveal broken wing

let there be brief joy
before broken sorrow
child will miscarried be
no more seed will take

is too much revealed sorrow
turning points in coupled life
destinies like dynasties
mortals fight destinies

rejecting destiny fate when
not fortuitous
great believers rejoicers
when gainful

believers in good fortune
but not believing in balancing bad
the hand of unfolding fate
was never yours to hold read

for there is that
which is written
and that which we
must write ourselves

enough for each day
is its own inlaid evil
love hopes for much
love endures all things

God wrote laws commands
explicitly for your guidance
this is all you need know
all you need ever follow

Inevitability Of Death

Puffy lips glistening skin
And everything comes rushing in
We don't go to hell
memories of us do

I get a sense of connectedness
Exclusive tight but nothing dangerous
We don't go to hell memories of us do
And if you go to hell
I'll still remember you

But I thought you beat the death of inevitability
to death just a little bit
I though you beat the inevitability
of death
to death just a little bit

Terry's gift is forever green
it got me up and back on the scene
We don't go to hell
Just our memories do

Fantastic gap common space
Open concept in your smiling face
we don't go to hell memories of us do

And if you go to hell I'll still remember you

Because I do not wish to hope again

I

Because I do not wish to hope again,
to like an eagle spread my wings,
because I do not wish to gain
experience and to learn new things

and do not wish to soar up against the blue sky,
wondering what lies
beyond the scope of the vision of an eye
and with time in me all hope dies

why should I be afraid
when the darkness closes in,
when destiny has knotted my life in its braid
and I do not know what comes with the new morning?

II

Because am not the man I used to be
and the things of my youth now is of no interest
with age taking effect of my body
drawing me closer to the place of eternal rest

and on the other side of the beyond
there’s only darkness that I see
and to this ageing body I am bound with life’s bond
that is slowly leaving me

when the reality of life in death makes me aware
that life is only transitory,
that destiny has its impact everywhere
then as a tired man I still lift my eye to God in His glory.

III

Because the moments of tranquillity
have left me as if they have never been
and I am now enfolded in fragility
as if my eyes have never seen

the greatness beaconing on the other side of the beyond
as if no word or deed from me will last into eternity
as if no beauty, greatness I have found
or left a mark of my integrity or sincerity

I wonder what the reason for living is,
have difficulty to comprehend
what life holds
what pain, fear, joy and bliss
brings before the last of my life is spent?

IV

Because I know that time is running out,
that even a newborn child is bound to destiny
and it feels as if it’s no use to beg, pray or shout
as every single human being is covered in iniquity

I am left to pray to God for His mercy
and ask Him to let me forget the dreams, the plans and hope
that was once mine, and every single fallacy
that as a human being once did envelop

my mind, my heart and when His righteous judgement falls
may it be lenient as there is no way to live again
and deeds and words well meant become spent when death calls
as every human being is destined to walk the darkening plain

l’Envoi
to at an allotted time expected or unexpected depart from life
and even from the time of birth
the seeds of disaster and strive
are build into every human being living on this earth

and therefore I pray to meet You Lord
to experience the depth of your love
as is promised in Your eternal word
lifting my eyes to You who reign from above.

John of Forde, His Exculpation

What I say and what I write
may seem to you – may seem to me –
as foolishness and folly; for
I talk of boundless things, and of infinity;

which by their nature, are beyond
the human mind, the human pen;
should I then not and never speak of such?

Or are these boundless things
just what mankind should talk about –
seeking the laws of atoms, or of space, only
to find the boundlessness yet further off
than men of yesteryear believed?

and if I talk and write – beside those things
invisible as once the surface of the Moon –
then, of the boundlessness of love - which is yet bound
into Creation’s very substance – and
those other boundless things which seem to us
to be Creation's - even the Creator’s - very nature…

then my exculpation is but simply this:
the motive force for what I write,
the theme of what I write, which is
my boundless love for you, for all,
demands, must win, forgiveness
from Boundlessness itself…

there is no more, there is no less
than love, which is true boundlessness.
