Chasers Of Destinies

some mortals desire to know
more than mere fortunes
read from drained prophetic cup
held in hand of revealing

when sign symbol coffin is present
close upturn seal cup unread
manner of death reveal not
nor seen circumstances surrounding

this is no good fortune
to read or casually reveal
when the stork is present
why reveal broken wing

let there be brief joy
before broken sorrow
child will miscarried be
no more seed will take

is too much revealed sorrow
turning points in coupled life
destinies like dynasties
mortals fight destinies

rejecting destiny fate when
not fortuitous
great believers rejoicers
when gainful

believers in good fortune
but not believing in balancing bad
the hand of unfolding fate
was never yours to hold read

for there is that
which is written
and that which we
must write ourselves

enough for each day
is its own inlaid evil
love hopes for much
love endures all things

God wrote laws commands
explicitly for your guidance
this is all you need know
all you need ever follow

L’Inconnue

Is thy name Mary, maiden fair?
Such should, methinks, its music be;
The sweetest name that mortals bear
Were best befitting thee;
And she to whom it once was given,
Was half of earth and half of heaven.

I hear thy voice, I see thy smile,
I look upon thy folded hair;
Ah! while we dream not they beguile,
Our hearts are in the snare;
And she who chains a wild bird's wing
Must start not if her captive sing.

So, lady, take the leaf that falls,
To all but thee unseen, unknown;
When evening shades thy silent walls,
Then read it all alone;
In stillness read, in darkness seal,
Forget, despise, but not reveal!

Reveal Yourself

Reveal yourself,
Reveal yourself,
Reveal yourself,
Reveal yourself.
Life on earth is so bizarre,
We must find a way to fulfill,
What we really are,
Yes its true,
I love you,
And theres nothing you do thats wrong,
Find values of your own.
Reveal yourself,
Reveal yourself,
Reveal yourself,
On the living room floor,
Reveal yourself,
Reveal yourself,
Reveal yourself,
Till there isnt anymore.
Reveal yourself,
Reveal yourself,
Reveal yourself,
For there are places even you dont know.
Reveal yourself,
For life is nothing but a movie show,
Or free yourself,
Your heart,
Your mind,
Your soul,
Your sanity,
Just got to see it,
Smell it,
Know that its reality.
Reveal yourself,
Reveal yourself,
Reveal yourself,
Doesnt matter anymore,
Reveal yourself,
Reveal yourself,
Reveal yourself,
Till there isnt anymore.
There are no rules where life is concerned,
Our past must be burned,
For theres nothing we have learned,
And its true,
I believe that we must all be free,
Immortal you and me.
Reveal yourself,
Reveal yourself,
Reveal yourself,
On the living room floor,
Reveal yourself,
Reveal yourself,
Reveal yourself,
Till there isnt anymore,
Reveal yourself,
Reveal yourself,
Reveal yourself,
And maybe youll go down in history.
Oh, how much longer must your life remain a mystery,
It doesnt matter if youre thick and fat or thin and long,
You must find out exactly where it is that you belong.
Reveal yourself,
Reveal yourself,
Reveal yourself,
Doesnt matter anymore,
Reveal yourself,
Reveal yourself,
Reveal yourself,
On the living room floor,
Reveal yourself,
For there are places even you dont know,
Reveal yourself,
For life is nothing but a movie show,
Reveal yourself,
Your heart,
Your mind,
Your soul,
Your sanity,
Just got to see it,
Smell it,
Know thats its reality,
Reveal yourself,
Reveal yourself,
Reveal yourself,
Reveal yourself,
Reveal yourself,
Reveal yourself,
It doesnt matter if the world thinks youre right or wrong,
Reveal yourself.

0317 Fingertip to fingertip, a human net

i think it's really wonderful
that with all the million poems on this net
people find their way to read what each of us has read
or written.

it's like a shining human net around the world -
fingertip to fingertip in space
all connected by the love of poetry
and the poetry of love.

so instead of moping and chewing our pencils,
feeling pathetic and unread
we can dedicate all our poems to all those real people who - yes! -
actually read them
and say
It's you I wrote them for - and you - and you-
and now I know you're there
I'll write some better ones for you in time,
that what it's all about...

and if I'm silent for a time
working on something that's good enough for you,
remember -

love, love, love

Life's Lesson Book

Life is a ponderous lesson-book, and Fate
The teacher. When I came to love's fair leaf
My teacher turned the page and bade me wait.
'Learn first,' she said, 'love's grief';
And o'er and o'er through many a long tomorrow
She kept me conning that sad page of sorrow.

Cruel the task; and yet it was not vain.
Now the great book of life I know by heart.
In that one lesson of love's loss and pain
Fate doth the whole impart.
For, by the depths of woe, the mind can measure
The beauteous unscaled summits of love's pleasure.

Now, with the book of life upon her knee,
Fate sits! the unread page of love's delight
By her firm hand is half concealed from me,
And half revealed to sight.
Ah Fate! be kind! so well I learned love's sorrow,
Give me its full delight to learn tomorrow.

A Poem For Aniqa

What indeed is your patrimony
My sweet child, Aniqa!
A few 'ghazal' compositions, a handful of
poems
Which are but treasures
Of broken hearts, given for safekeeping
To your dad?

These are tales
Of days bygone
Lived before your time
Narratives written in blood
Prophecies of better seasons to come!

Somewhere, if at all
You suffer under the tyranny
Of moments sad and forlorn
Must read these poems, my child
For, I'm sure
They will reveal
My philosophy of sorrow and happiness

A moment, indeed
My sweet child, Aniqa
And your eyes
Will bloom forth in roses of tears
Your lips
Will soften with dreamlike smiles.

I Would Like It Better If

If I wrote to be liked,
I would not be read.
And I do like that some read,
What I write!
But I would like it better,
If I was fed...
By what it is I've said that is written...
And read by those who read what I wrote!
Finding a nibble to afford,
Liked And nourishes...
To feed the reader something read,
Coming from this writer's head!

You know, I have a philosophy there’s good that happens in everything. It may not reveal itself immediately, and even in the most
dire circumstances, if you just wait, if you just remain open to things, the good in it will reveal itself. And that has happened to me as well in countless, countless ways.

The Love Sonnets Of Proteus. Part III: Gods And False Gods: LXIX

SIBYLLINE BOOKS
When first, a boy, at your fair knees I kneeled,
'Twas with a worthy offering. In my hand
My young life's book I held, a volume sealed,
Which none but you, I deemed, might understand.
And you I did entreat to loose the band
And read therein your own soul's destiny.
But, Tarquin--like, you turned from my demand,
Too proudly fair to find your fate in me.
When now I come, alas, what hands have turned
Those virgin pages! Some are torn away,
And some defaced, and some with passion burned,
And some besmeared with life's least holy clay.
Say, shall I offer you these pages wet
With blood and tears? And will your sorrow read
What your joy heeded not?--Unopened yet
One page remains. It still may hold a fate,
A counsel for the day of utter need.
Nay, speak, sad heart, speak quick. The hour is late.
Age threatens us. The Gaul is at the gate.

Double Fortune

It was her birthday.
Chinese dinner was over.
Eagerly she broke the cookie:
out fell not one but two paper strips.
'Oh, ' cried her friend,
double fortune! '
Picking up the first
she smoothed it and read-
blank, it said nothing.
'No news is good news, ' said her friend.
Dropping the first, she read the second.
'Fortune is what we make of Fate.'
Her face fell. It being her birthday,
she wanted a better fortune.
'I'll take that, ' smiled her friend
stuffing the wad into a pocket
like it were something important.
'Waiter, can you bring us some tea? '

If You Need Scriptures....

if you need scriptures,
read the scriptures written
on the walls of your soul!
read the scriptures written
in trees, in rocks, in rivers.
read the scriptures written
in the broken alley.
in the homeless man's eyes,
in the addict's desperation,
in the shuffle of jobless feet.
in the cry of the newborn baby,
in the lovers moan of fulfillment,
the scriptures written
in the sweet darkness of night,
in the jail cell,
in the picket line,
in the monk who sets himself
on fire for freedom and justice,
in all the colors of equality...
in the hungry child's hand reaching out...
read them, know them, be them!
life testifies to the living!

A Love Secret

Love has its secrets, joy has its revealings.
How shall I speak of that which love has hid?
If my beloved shall return to greet me,
Deeds shall be done for her none ever did.

My beloved loved me. How shall I reveal it?
We were alone that morning in the street.
She looked down at the ground, and blushed, and trembled.
She stopped me with her eyes when these did meet.

``What wouldst thou, sweet one? What wouldst thou with sorrow,
Thou, the new morning star with me, the night?
What are those flowers thou holdest to thy bosom?
What are the thoughts thou hidest from my sight?''

``Thine are these flowers,'' she said, ``these foolish roses,
And thine the thoughts, if thus it be thy will.
I hold them close for fear that thou shouldst mock me,
I hold them to my heart for fear of ill.''

``Nay, what of ill? 'Tis only age is evil,
Only forgetfulness and grief and pain;
What dost thou know of grief, that thou shouldst fear it?
Mine is the grief who cannot love again.''

She raised her eyes, she looked at me in wonder,
``The ache is here,'' she said, ``by night and day;
I cannot teach my heart to bear its burden,
I cannot turn my silence from its way.''

``Speak to me, child. I am thy wise physician,
A man acquainted with all grief can teach;
There is no sorrow but has joy for sister,
No silence but finds counterpart in speech.''

My beloved laughed. She saw through my dissembling;
She held to me her hand, that I might kiss,
The inside of her hand. 'Twas like a petal
Of her own roses, but more dear than this.

I felt its pulses, like a bird in prison;
``Sweet child,'' I said, ``what wouldst thou I should prove?
I cannot make thee wiser than thy wisdom,
Who knowest all things since thou knowest love.''

How shall I tell it? How shall I reveal it?
I led her by the hand, as thus I said,
Back from the street to where it stood, my dwelling,
And closed the door on where it stood, my bed.

Her laughter stopped. ``Nay, use not thou unkindly.
Thine is the hand to deal or spare the blame;
I dare not be to thee thus uninvited,
Thou dost not know me, hast not learned my name.''

How shall I tell it? How shall I reveal it?
Love in that instant found its latest birth,
``Soul of my soul,'' I cried, ``thy name is Pleasure,
The sweetest thing to love on this sad Earth.''

I held her in my arms, I pressed her fastly.
``Ah, if thou lovedst me indeed,'' she cried.
``I love thee, and I love thee,'' was my answer,
``My sister, my beloved one, my bride!''

Love has its secrets. Joy has its revealings.
I speak of this which love in vain has hid;
If my beloved shall return to greet me,
Deeds shall be done for her none ever did.

As Long As You're Loving Me

Some people say that the fate of a man
Is written down in the plam of his hand
Others say they can see it all in the cards and how they fall
I don't need my fortune told
As long as I've got you to hold
I can live with the mystery as long as you're loving me
Looking up at the stars tonight
I can't read 'em but I love the light
Heaven knows I'm right where I wanna be
As long as you're loving me
I don't need a crystal ball
Wouldn't even wanna know at all
I've got everything I need
As long as you're loving me
Who knows what tomorrow brings
One day changes everything
I'm willing to wait and see
As long as you're loving me
Looking up at the stars tonight
I can't read 'em but I love the light
Heaven knows I'm right where I wanna be
As long as you're loving me
I don't need my fortune told
As long as I've got you to hold
I can live with the mystery as long as you're loving me
I've got everything I need as long as you're loving me
As long as you're loving me
Oh, as long as you're loving me

Broken child

I see the face of a broken child.
A child who has seen more than his young eyes should.
I see the face of a broken child.
A child who would run away from it all if he could.
I see the face of a broken child.
A child who has been ravished by the likes of you and I.
I see the face of a broken child.
A child with to much pride to cry.
I see the face off a broken child.
a child who fights off anyone who cares.
I see the face of a broken child.
A child who wishes his mother was there.
I see the face of a broken child.
A child who wont let his hardships keep him down.
I see the face of a broken child.
A child who refuses to give up and reveal a frown.

Me & U

me and U
WE write poems together
i read yours
and you read mine
hopefully to refine
this craft of mine

me and U
WE need to sip coffee together
on an early morning
and read another poem

me and U
ALONG the shores of sorrow
walking hand in hand
bringing with us
the purity of our intentions

me and U
WE ARE but offerings
me an incense
u the myrrh
or both of us gold together
before that manger

me and U
FRIENDS forever
rowing in a boat
on the river
singing a song
under the stars.

Words

Yeats so simply stated
' Words alone are certain good. '
And to the great poet
So highly rated
I try to listen, as I should; Yet
Being an untrained novice
Such as me
With verdant hopes of much improvement
- oh that I would -
I beg to slightly differ with W. B.
And offer here my humble opinion
- if I could -
Good certainly is not words alone,
For without humanity
To read and to write
How would they ever become known?
- For without the good of people
Who of these words would care
Ever to be heard, or even shared?
No, the good does not alone from words arise,
Rather from human beings
Whose entire story
Such words do attempt to comprise.......
- Words written in this time
May even the way
To a distant future find,
But not on their own
And never alone.
For it takes people's
- hand's to write
- eye's to read
- heart and soul to understand
The purpose, and the need.
Let it here be shown
Words alone
Are not the only good,
They need human beings
To give goodness and life
To their reason and meaning
For they are merely the vehicle
By which man's true good
Is found and understood.

Wing Pages Of The Butterfly

at the nursery
while people
are at purchase
and at transactions
a blue butterfly
comes by
and opens its pages to me
swift and quick
and it says to me:
'Read! Read!
Read my pages! '

'I can’t read, '
I say,
amused
at this brash butterfly

'Read and write!
Read and write
about me,
and all flitting butterflies
Read
and write, you silly! '
it commands

And so I read
and I copy
and these are the words
the words from those
pages
the butterfly
holds up to me

Read My Mind

(keith thomas, melissa coleman, todd moore)
A penny for my thoughts you say
You want to know what I could be thinking
But as I speak the music starts to play
And the words just somehow slip away
Chorus:
Read my mind
It will tell you that I love you and
Youre all I ever wanted in a man
Youd see how I feel
What my head wont let my heart reveal
If only you could read my mind
One look from you and look at me
Im trembling like a little girl
I tell myself if I can just believe
Any day now youll fall in love with me
Repeat chorus
Tell me if you feel the same way I do
And tell me that Im not mistakenly taken with you
Youre all I ever wanted in a man
You see, all I need is everything you are to me
If you could somehow read my mind
You would see what I cant seem to say
If only you could, if you would read my mind
Read my mind

Time Will Reveal

Uhh
What can I do?
To make you feel secure
Remove all your doubts
So that you'll know for sure that you're the apple of my eye, girl
Fulfillment of my dreams
Time, will show the value
Of just what you mean to me
More precious than silver
More precious than diamond rings or anything that I can give you
It wouldn't mean a thing
If you didn't have my love beside you there to guide you through
Well it is good to know you do
I know just how you feel
Well this time love's for real
In time it will reveal
That special love that's deep inside of us all will reveal in time
I tell you I love you, but you don't believe it's true
More precious than silver
More precious than diamond rings or anything that I can give you
It wouldn't mean a thing
If you didn't have my love beside you there to guide you through
But it is good to know you do, ahh
I know just how you feel
But this time love's for real
In time it will reveal
That special love that's deep inside of us will all reveal in time
I know just how you feel
But this time love's for real
In time it will reveal
That special love that's deep inside of us all will reveal in time
Da da da...
Or anything that I could give you
It wouldn't mean a thing
If you didn't have my love beside you there to guide you through
Well it is good to know you do, ahh
I know just how you feel
But this time love's for real
In time it will reveal
That special love that's deep inside of us will all reveal in time
I know just how you feel
But this time love's for real
In time it will reveal
That special love that's deep inside of us will all reveal in time
Oh, that special love in us will all reveal in time
So let your little heart lay down upon me
I know just how you feel
But this time love's for real
In time it will reveal
That special love that's deep inside of us will all reveal in time

A Man Like Me

Should you ever meet
A man like me
On a road or some busy street
With a back so scared
Head bent low
And eyes that have seen defeats
With a soul that fight the past
Where sorrow's play their broken harps
A living death, and all that's left
It this man with a broken heart

My family? Well? They've no right
To judge, or critize, nor even condemn
Because, sometimes their actions
Are just like them
Oh such careless steps, such thoughtless deeds
Oh how my misery starts
For I have faced, so much abuse
And that's what gave this broken heart

So humble, I think you could be
When I come passing by
For even the greatest...(God) ...
Was never so great
That He didn't stop to help and cry

I've tried not to lose my faith
I've held to love, all my life
Even when among all that strife
So even when sorrow throws, all those poison darts
Or when I've seen hope, all gone
I've walked alone and continued on
With broken heart

My family you've never walked in
this man shoes
Or seen the things, these eyes
have seen
Nor stood and watched with helpless hand
While the heart inside of you dies and stings
I never was a rich man, or master painter
Or had any words of art
Yet I still claim
I Love you same
Even with this broken heart

Life sometimes been so terribly cruel
There was a time I even prayed for death
There was a time of pain... when pain...
Was with every pain filled breath
So I say help that man, or friend
Or even your brother, along this road

It matters not... from where you start
For it was God...whom made you
To help that man, with a broken heart

Do not read my poems…. [for YOU ]

Do not read my poems…
After I am dead
As a lament, a wail
An elegy, a requiem
Do not read my poems…
After I am gone
When no more I can
Hear your velvet voice.
Do not read my poems…
Alone without me
To comment along
And read with you
But, do read my poems
When I beside you lie
With my head resting
On your supporting arm
Listening to you read
In whisper, in kisses
In silence, in love
In sleep, in dream
Watching you feel
Every word I wrote
I’ll close my eyes - Love
Brush aside my hair
With your breathe
Which half veils my face
Sleepless fevered I wrote
Read me my poems
Now sing me a lullaby
Rock me to sleep
On your broad chest
Diving into your eyes
A thousand times
I am refreshed
By your smile
I’ll write on you a poem
Traced by my fingertips
To be etched in your heart
And burnt into your soul!
So, do not read my poems…
