0110 Visiting Billy Collins

The gate opens easily -
someone's oiled it quite recently.
There's fresh gravel on the path
this winter day.
There's a dog kennel out there and
a single warning bark from inside the house but
your shins are safe.
Those neighbours of his seem
quiescent today..
The doormat has said
WELCOME for
some frayed years now.
There are lights on and
the door opens quickly although
they weren't expecting you so soon.

'How about a walk around after
coffee, this crisp morning?
Just as far as you like? There's
lots to show you..'

We walk further than
I intended, laughing
over the word
'accessible'.

Behind the Iron Gate

Behind the Iron Gate, we saw so many different things.
I saw the crazy-paving path, you saw the wrought-iron wings
stretched out across the lintle, o'er the blackened double door
a welcoming of angel's warmth, a refuge for the poor.

I saw the march of tattered dandelions of neglect
the next door neighbour's foliage, Leilandia, I suspect.
You saw yourself some years ago, a paint brush in your hand
Nothing boring in restoring distant memories, so grand.

A few decades, a few decayed and teetering on the rim
last vestages of childhood and the days we spent with him.
A stranger with a thousand tales who swore that none were true
Behind the Iron Gate I peer, and wish I saw the same as you.

The Black Bird Winging Its Way Inward

that early morning
the door opens and you
hear the rush of steps
going out of the house
the gate opens and
closes once again
and you
find yourself enclosed
in your freedom
of thought again
transforms into a black
bird
stretching its wings
to the breasts of dawn
and then
without so much hesitation

fly away again.

Rags & Old Iron

Norman curtis, oscar brown jr
Rags old iron rags old iron
All he was buying was just rags and old iron
I heard that old rag man now making his rounds
He came right to my alley lord with sorrowful sounds
Crying rags old iron and pulling his cart
Ask him how much hed give me for my broken heart
Rags old iron rags old iron
All he was buying was just rags and old iron
So I asked that old rag man how much he would pay
For a heart that was broken baby when you went away
For a burnt out old love light that no longer beams
And a couple of slightly used second hand dreams
Rags old iron rags old iron
All he was buying was just rags and old iron
For those big empty promises you used to make
For those memories of you that are no longer sweet
I wish he could haul them off down the street
Rags old iron rags old iron
All he was buying was just rags and old iron
When love doesnt last tell me what is it worth
It was once mamas most precious possession on earth
When I asked that old rag man if hed like to buy
He just shook his head and continued to cry
Rags old iron rags old iron
All he was buying was just rags and old iron
Rags old iron rags old iron
Rags old iron rags old iron rags old iron

Today... 'The Word

Word of love and the Word made flesh
Word incarnate forever blessed
Word of life and the Word of light
Word of power and Word of might.

Word that was spoken, Word of the Lord
Word of the Law and the Word of God
Word of peace and Word eternal
Word of truth and last Word of all.

Word of wisdom and the Word of healing
Word from heaven, a Word so appealing
Word fulfilling the Word of prophecy
Word of the Spirit and Word of destiny.

Word of exhortation and Word of grace
Word of encouragement and Word of faith
Word of promise and a Word of insight
Word from the beginning and Word of delight.

Word of knowledge and a Word of boldness
Word of peace and the Word of righteousness
Word of the covenant and Word of love
Word of the Father from heaven above.

The Word

Find the word, understand the word,
Depend on the word;
The word is heaven and space, the word the earth,
The word the universe.
The word is in our ears, the word is on our tongues,
The word the idol.
The word is the holy book, the word is harmony,
The word is music.
The word is magic, the word the Guru.
The word is the body, the word is the spirit, the word is being,
The word Not-being.
The word is man, the word is woman,
The Worshipped Great.
The word is the seen and unseen, the word is the existent
And the non-existent.
Know the word, says Kabir,
The word is All-powerful.

Love's Jewel Is Easy To Find

Love is a friend inside your heart
Love's a wonder the start,
A pleasure to give
Love is to believe,
The way to live
Love is not for those
Who love to hate,
Love is beauty as is a rose
Love opens heaven's gate,
Love opens many doors
Love from the heart and it's yours
Love's jewel is easy to find,
Love's the soother of the mind.
Love is riches for the kind
Love is for lovers who often fight
Love will always hold them tight,
If you think you've been left out
God will always love you there is no doubt.

Open The Gate

I see you from the distance
From beyond the fence you made
Hiding all your feelings
Behind your barricade
Oh have you been invaded
Is this the reason why you hide
I know just how you're feeling
I know - let me inside

Open the gate up
Open the gate up - hurry
Open the gate up - hurry

I want to get near you
But you just won't let me in
'Cause you're so scared of losing
Everything you've got within

Come on now you can trust me
Come on and open the door
'Cause I know just how you're feeling
I know - I've been there before

Open the gate up
Open the gate up - hurry
Open the gate up
Hurry hurry hurry hurry
And do it right now
Do it right now
Do it right now
Do it right now - hurry

Do it right now - do it right now
Do it right now - do it right now
And do it right now - do it right now
Do it right now - do it right now
Hurry

Open the gate up
Open the gate up - hurry
Open the gate up
Hurry hurry hurry hurry
Open the gate up - open the gate up
Or I'm gonna knock the damn door down
Open the gate up - open the gate up
Or I'm gonna knock the damn door down
Open the gate up - open the gate up
Or I'm gonna knock the damn door down
Open the gate up - open the gate up
Or I'm gonna knock the damn door down
Down

An Act

Deploring an act is to despise the person,
Others do sin as well, but what is that sin?
The entrance shines in front of you,
Take the brother of this gate, and you prosper.
Sins are to be forgiven, welcome to the good,
This gate then opens for some who do not murder.
Let felons work after heaven and hell are laid,
Eggs of dangerous properties are eaten by the criminals.
Once the eggs enter the stomach, a real wrong enters,
Eggs of hens are not lethal, but these are different.
An act so despised can never leave the soul,
And the souls can never enter the brotherly gates.

Some Raindrops On The Roof On The Leaves Of The Bushes

it is a rainy day today.
rain falls unceasingly on the rooftop
tracing the hidden ways of the gutter

falling gently on pines and leaves
of gentle bushes planted beside
a steel gate

painted red.The time comes
when the rain is so gentle and slow

pouring in rhtythm with the swaying
of the palm leaves

every dropp like the meeting
of a dew to another dew
glistening before my eyes

gentle sounds of raindrops
in cadence like a hammock
a swing like the flapping of
a pegion's wings

as i write this poem

Deaths gate

There's a gate that I want to walk through.
I want to go to deaths gate.
Where all my troubles will be gone.
No more hartache no more fears.
Just the freedom of tommorrrow.
Without the fears of the day.
Itll keep my demons away.

I want to go to deaths gate.
To end my life and strife.
I dont want to be in this lifetime of hate.

Theres a gate I'll go through soon.
I'll be entering deaths gate.
It wont be an acicedent you see.
It'll be suicide

To A Friend Of A Friend

a friend of a friend
has been a widow for 20 years

this she reveals when
she hitched in our car

my wife's face is twisted
and she does not speak a lot

we cut the story short
she gives the direction where she will be dropped
like some garbage

i pity her. i really pity her.

at the red gate she waits
no one opens the door
it is 10 o'clock in the evening

the car backs out
finding itself passing again by the same red gate
she sits on the pavement and holds her bag as though it is her only possession

i don't really know if that is her house
does she lie still at this age?

my wife lambastes me like thunder
unable to hold her contained temper

we cut the story shorter
we leave her on her own
whatever that means

All I Did Was Hide My Love For You

Like an iron gate
That rusts
Weakened by the
Salt from the sea,
So I must
I live on
To hide my love
At last I have
Staled and
Failed.

We Are Not Separate, We Are Connected!

Loke samsta sukhino bhavanthu,
Sarve Jana sukhino bhavanthu!

It is a beautiful prayer,
When prayers become oath,
Opens the path,
When love suppress hate,
Heaven opens every heart,
Its shining golden gate, We may look different,
But we are connected,
Never can live separate!

Look what speaks in us and what it speaks,

'I am the life,
Sometimes wise,
Sometimes foolish,
Sometimes meaningful,
Sometimes ridiculous!

Just like a
light bulb,
Flashing different shades of
colours,
Of various intensity,
Depending on flow of power
through me! '

Find the source of all powers,
Follow the line to reach the source!
