Do not suppose, dearest Sir, that I am so short-sighted as to destroy my life by English preaching, or any other preaching. St. Paul did much good by his preaching, but how much more by his writings.

Listening?
So much has been spoken.
So much has been said...
To fall on deaf ears.
So much has been seen,
And not comprehended.
Much misunderstanding...
Leads to reactions to produce conflict!
And why?
And for what purpose?
To achieve 'what',
In the end?
So much has been spoken.
So much has been said...
To fall on deaf ears.
So thick is the head...
That finds an ease to flow,
Dreaded tears to show!
And why?
And for what purpose?
To achieve 'what',
In the end?
Listening?

Mutuality
i like your ears
you think
i am just flattering you
i suggest
you see your ears
using my eyes
as your mirror
still you do not
trust me
how can you be so indifferent?
i will buy you a mirror,
and now
use it, see?
your ears are
so beautiful
because
they are deaf

To III
Nature gave you lustrous eyes, but weak
And lovely apricot ears, though deaf to hear
Weak to see the damage that you wreak
Deaf to hear my importuning air.
So, to fix this ailment of your eyes
I have hired a noted oculist
Consulting for your stoppered ears, likewise,
A noted otolaryngologist.
The first examined and pronounced you sound
Calling you blindness 'cortical' alas.
The second you for hearing perfect found
And swore the malady her practice past
Though neither thought the bug at hand was killing
And guessed I would recover, heaven willing.

Ability-1
And
She's treading on still..
As has been so far
Deafly unconcerned
Along a road, in the cab, in the shop
Anywhere
Unbeaten by deafening noise
Unbothered of scolding, mocking, joking, shirking
Others blaring in
searching a piece of sound
Fathoming her ears
Unknowingly that
She the queen
Her dictatorship bejeweled, bedecked
Slamming everybody at her feet
Her best familial way
Despite a deaf, illiterate
Unknowingly about
Her sovereign cognition
Of kitchen and as well of her nation
Despite a deaf, illiterate
Unknowingly that
She the most unconcerned of herself
Devoid of aid any her hearing-loss
Yet can talk on M.S.Subbalakshmi
Despite a deaf, illiterate
Unknowingly that
She the shepherdess of the infernals
Where she's treading on still..
The bold and deaf ninetyfive
To the inkling sound of silence
Treading on still..

Poetics
- You're betraying Poetry again, you'll tell me,
Man's most sacred expression
You're using it again as a means, a pack-mule
For your sinister objectives
In full knowledge of the damage you're doing
To the young through your example.
- Tell me what you have not betrayed
You and your kind, for years and years,
Bartering your possessions one by one
In international markets and common bazaars
So you're left without eyes to see, without ears
To hear, with lips sealed and you say nothing.
For which of man's sacred rights are you arraigning us?
I know: preaching and rhetoric again, you'll say.
Well, yes! Preaching and rhetoric.
Words have to be hammered like nails.
If they're not to be lost in the wind.

Haven't You Been All of Them?
If you have not been aggressive,
In addressing the current mess.
Your sudden wish to become more active...
Has fallen upon ears long closed.
And you might benefit better,
If you were dumb, blind, mindless and deaf.
You've prolonged your indifference,
Far too long.
When you spent your time wasting it...
There was evidence all around,
Something was wrong.
But you left it to 'them'
To come correct your stuff.
And you allowed them to decide,
When you would have enough.
Guess what?
You have never been a priority.
In fact you've been thought of as a liability.
If you have not been aggressive,
In addressing the current mess.
Your sudden wish to become more active...
Has fallen upon ears long closed.
And you might benefit better,
If you were dumb, blind, mindless and deaf.
And in a way...
Haven't you been,
All of them?

An Example
They were two deaf mutes, and they loved and they
Resolved to be groom and bride;
And they listened to nothing that any could say,
Nor ever a word replied.
From wedlock when warned by the married men,
Maintain an invincible mind:
Be deaf and dumb until wedded-and then
Be deaf and dumb and blind.

Listen To Me
The Hollies
Listen To Me (Tony Hazzard)
Listen to me, I'll sing a song to change your mind.
Have you ever wondered why
when everything goes wrong
nobody stops to lend a hand,
nobody seems to care?
Then she looks you in the eye
and suddenly you're strong,
and very soon you realize that you didn't care about love.
Listen to me, I'll sing a song to change your mind.
Your ears are deaf, your mouth is dumb, your eyes are blind.
Listen to me and very soon I think you'll find,
somebody wants to help you,
somebody seems to care.
And very soon you've forgotten
that you didn't care about love.
Does it hurt to realize
you've been acting very strange,
refusing to take the love she gives,
pretending you don't care?
Did it take you by surprise
to discover how you'd changed -
how you forgot to remember
that you didn't care about love?
Listen to me, I'll sing a song to change your mind. (listen to me)
Your ears are deaf, your mouth is dumb, your eyes are blind.
Listen to me and very soon I think you'll find, (listen to me)
somebody wants to help you,
somebody seems to care.
And very soon you've forgotten
that you didn't care about love.
You care 'bout love.
you care 'bout
you care 'bout
you care 'bout love.

Boy In The Pew
A boy in church sits in the pew.
His mind is not on sin.
In the background the preacher is preaching
and his voice is getting thin,
to the boy that is.
He's tuned him out.
He's not aware of the lecture or shout.
His mind is on more delectable things
like fishing and girls he knows.
The words of the preacher have not reached his ears.
His mind just simply goes
to a place where sin is not a fear,
to where a boy can always be
happy, lazy, boyish and free.
He closes his eyes and music plays
and the choir sings of God.
He listens and finally comes awake
and finds it really odd
that the words of a hymn
as he sits in the pew
can always reach his ears,
something the preacher can't do.

A Deaf-Mute
A deaf-mute brings a cup of tea!
A cup of tea with love so rare;
Love uncommonly seen, I stare;
How do I thank her for her charity?
Often by her mother chided;
A servant in her own house, unpaid;
A deaf-mute, she remains, since birth!
Wearing a smile and full of mirth;
A face quite content to the core;
I want to love her all the more;
My heart with anguish wants to cry;
For unfair things, men often try;
To scores of deaf-mute creatures,
God, a DEAF-MUTE, Himself remains!

Love letter
tears
that sweetens,
ink that dried, ears
that deaf in the heart that calls,
from the mouth that murmurs,
of the hands move to tell,
the meaning of you
of my being

For The Love Of Man
For the love of man
For the love of man, he gave his life
For the love of man, he took no wife.
He started preaching at a very young age, for gods spirit
Was embedded in his soul, and the words he spoke
Were the words he was told.
People gathered around him to hear what he had to say
Some would leave, but most would stay.
He had such beautiful eyes that would put you in a trance
It would make you so happy, that you felt you had to dance.
The people were overwhelmed with the feelings that they had inside.
They would fall to the ground, and just begin to cry.
He had such love and compassion for his fellow man
And with everyone around him-they all did understand.
He grew into manhood still preaching the word of GOD.
And picked his twelve apostles, which he knew he had to do.
For these were the ones, that would have to follow through.
They would continue to carry the words and miracles that he had done.
And it spread like wildfire under the setting sun.
But unknown to the apostles, they were also blessed
For their belief and love passed the final test.
Whenever they spoke of JESUS, a miracle was left behind.
The sightless gained sight, the crippled began to walk
The deaf began to hear, and the mutes began to talk.
All of this started because the love of man.
This is all GOD wanted, for us to take a stand.

Sense of senses
If my feeling going nauseous
I’ll breathe the rain scent that fills my nose
Rather than the cold that kills me
If my breath going lost
I’ll taste the sweet promise that kisses my tongue
Rather than the ache than hungers me
If my tongue going tied
I’ll look at the bright smile that holds my eyes
Rather than the bitter that chokes me
If my eyes going blind
I’ll listen to the gentle sound that tickles my ears
Rather than the darkness that surrounds me
If my ears going deaf
I’ll feel the warm sun that touches my skin
Rather than the silence that shrinks me

Snapshot Of Freedom
rainwater standing
in stagnant puddles
'neath old cars....
tainted with oil!
a snapshot of freedom
in today's America...
silently shouting,
falling on deaf ears!
