If your part of the battlefield is covered with thorns, you do not leave your position and go to stand where the ground is good.

Battlefield Of Love
I am a soldier
A casualty of love
I've been from heaven
All the way to hell
I've had a journey
Much more than I can tell
I've got stories
Much more than I can sell
All this mass confusion
Causes chaos in my brain
I'm on the battlefield
The battlefield of love
With all of the illusions
I won't ever be the same
I'm on the battlefield
The battlefield of love
I'm a prisoner
A prisoner of love
I have been captured
And kept underground
I have been tortured
But I don't make a sound
'Cause I know one day
One day I will be found
All this mass confusion
Causes chaos in my brain
I'm on the battlefield
The battlefield of love
With all of the illusions
I won't ever be the same
I'm on the battlefield
The battlefield of love

Never Surrender
I will not throw up my arms
I will never call retreat
I will not turn and run away
From the truth and what I believe.
I will always stand my ground
I will protect what I know is mine
I will not leave any conflict unanswered
And from that position I will not resign.
No matter the size of any man
Or the powers of his rifles or cannons
Or the strength of his army or his wealth
No one will I ever abandon.
What I have is mine to own
And my property to no one will I yield
As I will not give up what I know is mine
And to no man will I ever kneel.
I will stand by my honor
Until that day that I die
And never will I give up on myself
As if anything I will always have my pride.
I will never cower to anyone
I will never forget the fight
No matter of my consequences
No matter of my strength or your might.
I will always stand by my honor
And in my blood and sweat they will remember
That I was here and I stood my ground
And too no-one would I surrender.

Leave This Man Alone
(Justin Hayward)
Ah, leave this man alone, Ah, leave this man alone
Young girls with long faces come to me at night and stay the night
Why am I so lonely?
Tell me is it right? (Is it right?)
Leave them, leave them, leave them, leave those things alone
Leave them, leave them, leave them, leave those things alone
Someone said I loved you, but I can't think where (I can't think where)
You know so much about me
So don't stand and stare, stand and stare
Leave me, leave me, leave me, leave my mind alone
Leave me, leave me, leave me, leave this man alone
Ah, ah, leave this man alone
Ah, ah, leave this
(Instrumental)
Ah, ah, leave this man alone
Ah, ah, leave this
Someone said I loved you, but I can't think where (I can't think where)
You know so much about me
So don't stand and stare, stand and stare
Leave me, leave me, leave me, leave my mind alone
Leave me, leave me, leave me, leave this man alone
Ah, ah, leave this man alone
Ah, ah, leave this man alone
Ahhhh

Always
I know that you feel like leavin
We cant seem to get along
I know you are the only one for me
My everything
You are all that a girl could wish for
I couldnt ask for more
We dont need to argue about silly things
Anymore
Remember all of the good times
Think about it for awhile
I would be incomplete without you in my life
Tell me
You cant leave
You will always be a part of me, baby
Wherever you go
You will always be a part of me
Always
Sometimes we say things we dont mean
Like we should go our separate ways
Not considering the love and time that we shared together
I be feeling like youre really afraid
To love me as I love you
Let me live inside of your love freely, yeah
Remember all of the good times
Think about it for awhile
I would be incomplete without you in my life
Tell me
You cant leave
You will always be a part of me, baby
Wherever you go
You will always be a part of me
Always
Tell me
You cant leave
You will always be a part of me, baby
Wherever you go
You will always be a part of me
Always
At night I wish upon a star
And hope that you are near, not far
And that you are loving me
Always
And when I lay me down to sleep
I pray that our love will always keep
And that you are loving me, yeah
Dont ever let me go, oh babe
Always
Without you there is no me
What am I suppose to do, tell me
Tell me
You cant leave
You will always be a part of me, baby
Wherever you go
You will always be a part of me
Always
Tell me
You cant leave
You will always be a part of me, baby
Wherever you go
You will always be a part of me
Always
Tell me
You cant leave
You will always be a part of me, baby
Wherever you go
You will always be a part of me
Always
Im sorry
Give me one night of holding you close, baby
Oh yeah (always)

The Rose With Thorns
The rose with thorns
Beautiful passion red rose
But dangerous with thorns
Picked off the garden
By a bard on
Realize he was bleeding
Thought roughly about his feelings
About why the rose had thorns
Never again would he pick up the red rose with thorns
The rose only brought him pain
Thoe he did not go insane
By wanting to stomp on it
But he just forfeit on it
He just let the rose there on the ground
And the rose was hoping it would be found
So the bard on
Left the garden
Checked his finger with the thorn pulled it out
finger was bleeding and never looked back at the rose with the thorns

Stand Your Ground
Everyonell try to put you down
Everyonell try to tell you no
If youve got a dream inside
Youre the only one who can know
Dont let nobody own ya
Just say one day Ill show ya
Revengell sure feel nice
If inside youve paid the price -
Chorus:
You know it and youve gotta stand your ground
Youve earned it - no one can cut you down
Theyll try to get what they can
When youre strong, everyones your friend
Guard the jewel youve found
Youve gotta stand your ground
Come on everybody clap your hands
Doesnt it feel good to take a stand?
Music is my only release
Gotta fight for peace
Fight for the beat
Whether you want for yourself or for others
Stand up for your sisters and brothers
Just do what you wanna do
No one can say whats right for you - oooo!
Chorus
Yo, fred! check this one out!
Rap:
You know you feel helpless on your own
Swallow your pride - dont you go it alone
Dont you run away from what is right
Stand your ground - stay there and fight
The only police are in your mind
You gotta work - now work now double time
cause runnin only lets em get the best of you
So stand your ground
Do watcha gotta do.....
Yo, ira!
(you know it) youve gotta stand your ground
(youve gotta stand your ground)
(youve earned it)
No one can cut you down, down, down, down
Theyll try to get what they can
When youre strong, everyones your friend
Guard the jewel youve found
Youve gotta (you know it) stand (stand)
Youve gotta stand your ground
Youve gotta stand (stand, stand) yeah!
Stand your ground
Theyll try, theyll try, theyll try
Guard the jewel youve found
Listen up, listen up (listen up)
Stand your ground

Hold Your Position (Stones)
Now here comes the great musical thing called "hold your position"
Rasta, them style ya a just levelment Uncle seen
Hold me position, Just a hold me position
I ya, hold me position, just a hold me position
Go on, hold me position, just a hold me position
Just like Jesus Christ in the valley of decision
Devil come along and tru to deceive man through him
Got him plan from the older one
Him had to hold him position, had to hold him position yeh
Hold him position, had to hold him position
Well rhythm like this makes me and me daughter
Go down at the dance, bubble on the corner
When the rhythm is sweet, we a go hold tighter
Rub-adub like this makes you go one
So you hold your position
Say you hold you position aya
Hold your position, say hold your position
Things and time was a getting slow let off the rhythm
Let the good time roll
Don't bother go a slow and stay a back row
I man come to make the rhythm
Just a rock and flow, because me hold me position
Just a hold me position
Special request to 39 Acker Tree, Frontline, everyman on Kime
UB40 say come and rhyme
Yes, Daddy Stone, me in the dance hall style
So we really come to make it versatile
Because one of a kind we come to blow your mind
So you should hold you position
Yes, hold your position, aya
Hold your position, hold your position
Hold Your Position (cont'd) Stones
Skank steady, Skank Steady
I tell you rock the rhythm
You should skank down steady
You know you say, it heavier than lead
Kinda tougher than tough
You know that Jah, Jah covers
Since he stands over us
So hold your position
Hold your position
Move to the east, and you could a move to the west
Lyrics like this Jab know never go jest
Say chunk ice water say right to your chest
Intercity, outer city everywhere the best you better
Hold you position, just hold your position
Hold you position, say hold your position
Well rhythm like this is really so hot
Let off the vilse because a legal shot
Because we hold our position
Yes, we hold our position aya
Hold our position yes, hold our position
Hold on tight never let go
Tee, ta, tee, say them all in a row
Donkey want water, you should hold him
Joe hold on tight and never let go
Hold your position, just hold your position
Hold your position a ya, just hold your position
Wah dat, hold your position
I say hold your position settle hold your position John
Hold you position Aunty, hold your position
Say hold your position go on
Hold your position, tell them rhythm so crucial
Rhythm so nice like sugar, like a spice
Cause when we a come a dance give you rough, nough, choice
A youth like me should a drive Rolls Royce
Sugar my tea baby, you're irie thought the two of us
Will go to bed cosy
Just a hold me position, hold me position

Eve
Eve I cant believe
That you could mean
What you just said
Think of what you are
How very far you are from being real
Look into the mirror
Nothing there to see
Eve I cant believe
Youd really leave him
(*) notice how her image saddens
How lonely shes become
Just once Id like to see her happy
Before the winter comes
Eve, I wouldnt lie
The open sky is not your home
Wide as it may be
Reality is here among the stones
Thorns among the roses
Add to what is real
Eve, you are a rose
Among the thorns here
Repeat (*)
I wish her only good times
Before the winter comes

Ghosttown
When the night falls
I lay my head on shallow ground
Covered by the sand of desert dunes,
I will be found
Write your name with fingers in the sand
And its blown away by sandstorms
And
Im gonna leave this ghosttown
Im leaving, leaving, leaving this ghosttown
Im gonna leave it on its own
Lost souls on dead ground
And all the memories
That come at night
And steel my sleep
The neverending game
Of love and pain
Im in too deep
Rattlesnakes draw circles in the dust
And while I watch them I realize I must
Leave this ghosttown

Cant Keep A Good Man Down
No, you cant keep a good man down
When you got a good woman to keep it up
No, you cant stand on firmer ground
When love is the question I got enough
Ooh, with lips so sweet
Our love just cant be beat, my darling, oh yeah
A love like yours and mine
Can stand the test of time, my darling, oh yeah
But for tomorrow -- tomorrow never comes
Love is the secret -- goes living on
No, you cant keep a good man down
When you got a good woman to keep it up
No, you cant stand on firmer ground
When love is the question I got enough
Just when I need you, show me the way
You came into my world -- turned my night to day
What good is a man without a woman?
But for the trouble -- trouble always comes
Love is the secret -- goes living on
No, you cant keep a good man down
When you got a good woman to keep it up
No, you cant stand on firmer ground
When love is the question I got enough
Ooh, your love is strong
Keep me forever, youre my darling, oh yeah
A love like yours and mine
Can stand the test of time, my darling, oh yeah
But for tomorrow -- tomorrow never comes
Love is the secret -- goes living on
No, you cant keep a good man down
When you got a good woman to keep it up
No, you cant stand on firmer ground
When love is the question Ive got enough

If That Is To Be My Experience
Please,
Do not remove the thorns from that rose.
I wish to experience every bit of it.
If I can not handle it and it should prick,
Let me be the obe to adjust to it.
I want to know what it is as it is.
Not what you wish me to believe,
To leave me to discover...
You decided to have me,
Think of it as something else.
Please,
Do not remove the thorns from that rose.
I've chosen it just the way it is...
Thorns and all.
I will never appreciate it,
If you make the decision...
To keep me from getting pricked.
If that is to be my experience...
Let it be.

Across The Battlefield
Hear the cannons roar
across the battlefield
with its pits of pain
where the dead and dying lay.
In the no man’s land
that separates friend from foe.
Hear the mournful sounds
of weeping flesh
entangled within the baptism of death.
Across the battlefield
where there are fleeting ghosts
of those who fell on another day.
One day the guns may fall silent
and flowers will once again dance
with an evening breeze.
Instead of the blood of innocence
milking the no man’s ground.
Birds may again sing one day
replacing the agony of young men
dying before their time.
In twenty, fifty or a hundred years
they will be remembered
for the sacrifice they gave,
condemning themselves to an early grave.
Maybe when that day comes
no more cannons will again roar
across the battlefield
with its pits of pain.

Don't Go Abroad
All good ones walk on the same road
And say that the West is the best.
They find in it peaceful life's code
In the Third World there is no rest.
Bag and baggage they go to west
And leave behind inferiority
In all those who want to contest
With problems with torn poverty.
Brave ones don't leave the battlefield
Good cause is all they want to have
Neither medals nor shining shield
And for coming time the path pave.
Please live in Poverty's cottage
And try to build it up anew
Try to fill the empty pottage
With paradise' honey and dew.

A Cross Amidst Thorns
A stream flows in a swamp
Rain falls on a barren ground
A saint in a lion’s den.
A dove amongst owls…
There’s a cross amidst thorns.
Innocence dwells with guilt
Hope lingers in a despairing people
Life struggles with the grave.
Love unmasks into hatred…
There’s a cross amidst thorns.
Peace competes with the wrathful hand of anarchy
Conscience fights with corruption
The truth passes along with deception
Righteousness boasts with evil
There’s a cross amidst thorns
There’s a cross amidst thorns
Hope radiates from despair
Light reigns above darkness
Faith conquers fear
There’s a cross amidst thorns

Leave This
Leave this chanting and singing and telling of beads!
Whom dost thou worship in this lonely dark corner of a temple with doors all shut?
Open thine eyes and see thy God is not before thee!
He is there where the tiller is tilling the hard ground
and where the pathmaker is breaking stones.
He is with them in sun and in shower,
and his garment is covered with dust.
Put off thy holy mantle and even like him come down on the dusty soil!
Deliverance?
Where is this deliverance to be found?
Our master himself has joyfully taken upon him the bonds of creation;
he is bound with us all for ever.
Come out of thy meditations and leave aside thy flowers and incense!
What harm is there if thy clothes become tattered and stained?
Meet him and stand by him in toil and in sweat of thy brow.

Kiss The Ground
(ronan ohanlon)
He said everything is wrong
I said nothing bad can last for long
This time Ill bring you to your kneesoh its just like hope
It bites the dust but I believe
Im in the photograph
That hangs up on a shelf
And when the lights are low
I feel just like monroe
And I shine like an angel
For the devil in him
And the chains that surround him
Will disappear
But the light shines on me
But the light shines on me
I kiss the ground I stand on
I move around in circles
You make me glad to be here
I dont wanna go
I kiss the ground I stand on
I move around in circles
Dont let the light shine on me
There was a game we played
To pass the time away
And when the lights were low
Id undress like bardot
For the love of a stranger
With a dangerous side
And the more that I gave him
The more hed desire
So I got up to leave
And he said after me
I know where youre going
I know
Well
So I got up to leave
And he said after me
I know where youre going
I know
Well
I kiss the ground I stand on
I move around in circles
You make me glad to be here
I dont wanna go
I kiss the ground I stand on
I move around in circles
Dont let the light shine on me
Shine on me
Dont let the light
No
Shine on me

Sidekicks
They were never handsome and often came
with a hormone imbalance manifested by corpulence,
a yodel of a voice or ears big as kidneys.
But each was brave. More than once a sidekick
has thrown himself in front of our hero in order
to receive the bullet or blow meant for that
perfect face and body.
Thankfully, heroes never die in movies and leave
the sidekick alone. He would not stand for it.
Gabby or Pat, Pancho or Andy remind us of a part
of ourselves,
the dependent part that can never grow up,
the part that is painfully eager to please,
always wants a hug and never gets enough.
Who could sit in a darkened theatre, listen
to the organ music and watch the best
of ourselves lowered into the ground while
the rest stood up there, tears pouring off
that enormous nose.

Please Stand Up
for those who want to die
please stand up
for those who want
to be counted as another
victim of injustice
please stand up
for those who want
to be imprisoned without
a guilty hand or mind
please stand up
for those who want to
disappear from this world
for those who want
to be mothers and mourn
for the death and disappearance
of their sons
please stand up
for those fathers and wannabe
breadwinners
soon you will lose your job
and soon another depression comes
please stand up
for those who expect too much from government
only to be disappointed
on a rising statistical data
for unemployment and inflation
and market crashes
please stand up
for those who want to be
a part of a sea disaster
or an avalanche or a tsunami
for those who want to be
part of the manifest of those
who perish either
by fire or water or air
for those who perish
from a calamity
nature-made or man-made
please stand up
tell me your name,
state your address
and telephone number
you don't want to be in?
good heavens!
the judgment committee
has already taken your name
this is the inevitable
this is not preventable
and so
prepare, the next day
it shall be you or her or him
(or me)
thank you
for not standing, destiny
shall make you
stand just the same
