He who offended forgets, but he who suffered from the offense does not.

Above all, do not lie to yourself. A man who lies to himself and listens to his own lie comes to a point where he does not discern any truth either in himself or anywhere around him, and thus falls into disrespect towards himself and others. Not respecting anyone, he ceases to love, and having no love, he gives himself up to passions and coarse pleasures, in order to occupy and amuse himself, and in his vices reaches complete bestiality, and it all comes from lying continually to others and to himself. A man who lies to himself is often the first to take offense. It sometimes feels very good to take offense, doesn’t it? And surely he knows that no one has offended him, and that he himself has invented the offense and told lies just for the beauty of it, that he has exaggerated for the sake of effect, that he has picked on a word and made a mountain out of a pea — he knows all of that, and still he is the first to take offense, he likes feeling offended, it gives him great pleasure, and thus he reaches the point of real hostility…

People Choose To Lay Up On Their Backsides
'I have suffered this.
I have suffered that.'
'I have suffered this.
And,
I suffer from that.'
Hear them talk about their pains,
And those agonies they reveal.
'I have suffered this.
I have suffered that.'
And...
Listen how they boast about,
Reasons why they choose NOT to heal.
'I have suffered this.
And,
I suffer from that.'
People like to stay flat on their back-
Sides!
People like to moan and that's a fact.
People like to stay flat on their back-
Sides!
People like to feel that keep it real...
To suffer!
'I have suffered this.
I have suffered that.'
'I have suffered this.
And,
I suffer from that.'
'I have suffered this.
I have suffered that.'
'I have suffered this.
And,
I suffer from that.'
And...
People choose to lay up on their backsides!
Listen to their reasons NOT to heal!
'I have suffered this.
I have suffered that.
I have suffered this.
And...
I suffer from that.'
People choose to lay up on their backsides!

Dream With You
(doug hopkins? )
? lays in the dark all day
She waits for the sun to go down
And in her novel we appear
To change her moods around
Well she forgets you now
Well she forgets you now
And girls like that they own the world
Theyll sell you what you need
On languid streets you search for her so ? in her sleep
Well she leads you on
Well she leads you on
Dream with you
Well she could only dream with you
And the distance keeps her warm
Her letters talk of things shes seen
Her silence what shes learned
Reminsce and drink with them
To hasten her return
Well she forgets you now
Well she forgets you now
Well she forgets you now
Well she forgets you now
Dream with you
Well she could only
And the distance keeps her warm
Dream with you
Well she could only
And the distance keeps her warm
Dream with you...

Sometimes She Forgets
If you see her out tonight
And she tells you that it's just the lights
That bring her here and not her loneliness
That's what she says but sometimes she forgets
If she tells you she don't need a man
She's had all the comfort she can stand
You best believe every word she says
But don't give up 'cause sometimes she forgets
And sometimes she forgets that not too long ago she swore
She wasn't gonna let her heart be broken anymore
So now she keeps it locked away
And it grows colder everyday
And it won't warm to any man's caress
That's what she says but sometimes she forgets
And sometimes she forgets that not too long ago she swore
She wasn't gonna let her heart be broken anymore
If you see her out tonight
And she tells you that it's just the lights
That bring her here and not her loneliness
That's what she says but sometimes she forgets
Yeah, that's what she says, but sometimes she forgets
So don't you dare give up 'cause sometimes she forgets

If It Made Sense
If it made sense,
It would not be worthy to mention.
The necessity to achieve it,
Would be instilled as a natural acceptance.
Only that which others find uncommon,
Is where those decisions to be offended begins.
With a witnessing of those taking offense,
Not for them being cost effective.
But it is the making of sense,
Many find not to be so common to obtain.

In One Of My Poems
in one of my poems that i wrote last night
i started well you say, something great at the start
and the way i ended it, you say, was bad,
nothing but a cliche
about the shallow minds of people around me
(and of course, if i may be allowed to tell you,
must have offended you,
precisely, you were around me during that night
when i made a very bad ending
on that poem which started just right
on the first two stanzas) ,
but no offense was meant, the poem was written
with malice towards none,
it just had to end that way,
there was no more
electricity

The argument won; the truth suffered.
The money played; the truth suffered.
The power prevailed; the truth suffered.
The truth triumphed; the poor suffered

With A Defying Against Any Of The Evidence
To do something done unconsciously to another...
And to have that act returned with a consciousness delivered,
As intended!
Says this as witnessed...
There is no sense made in a display of one's offense.
And yet offended people become,
When given exactly to them what they had initiated.
And done.
With one thing missing.
A lack of acknowledging their involvement.
And an applied selective memory,
That removes them from the scene of a crime committed.
A common hit and run done claimed by someone caught,
To have known nothing about what has happened.
With a defying against any of the evidence.
Pictures, fingerprints...
Food stains and crumbs on lips.
And the habit of their daily routine.

Ch 02 The Morals Of Dervishes Story 13
I saw a holy man on the seashore who had been wounded by a tiger. No medicine could relieve his pain; he suffered much but he nevertheless constantly thanked God the most high, saying: ‘Praise be to Allah that I have fallen into a calamity and not into sin.’
If that beloved Friend decrees me to be slain
I shall not say that moment that I grieve for life
Or say: What fault has thy slave committed?
My grief will be for having offended thee.

One forgets words as one forgets names. One's vocabulary needs constant fertilizing or it will die.

Unaccustomed to Having An Identity
Have you ever been in a situation,
In which you insulted others...
When you had a preference,
To begin to use your own given name?
And others became offended by that?
Others became offended...
Because you announced a clarity of your identity.
AND...
This offended?
AND...
You then became so proud of who you were,
Your entire presence began to threaten?
Especially those unaccustomed to having an identity!
The ones from birth until death,
Are only known by their nicknames.
And they are related to people who will never know,
Their real names.
Ever!
Have you ever been in a situation,
In which you insulted others...
When you had a preference,
To begin to use your own given name?
And the next thing they want you to do,
Is to get 'right' with God.

The Prisoner
Convicted I am now of an offense called 'Love'
The prison I am in is but a broken heart
The penance I must serve is to forever weep
With the aid of this poem, I am trying to escape
I clearly remember the offense that I had
I attempted to steal another woman's love
A love not half as much as that for you I feel
A love I never thought, would end my every dream
To reenter your heart, truly I did repent
With the hope that once more, your love I will regain
Sorrow was unto me, when I knew in the end
That the door of your heart for me is tightly sealed
And instead here's what happened you have imposed on me
A penalty much more than death, I've to serve painfully
The plaintiff were your lips, the jury is your mind
And your heart is the judge who tries me and decides
I'm appealing to you now in the court of love
The offense I admit, a plea of guilt I lodge
The decision I beg is a sentence of life
And that my prison be none but your loving heart

Shove
Woke up confused in a place I didnt know
And heard the hissing of an overused stem
The air around me is corrupt and on the take
Heard someone shout I think hes breathing again
It seems at first that no-one ever succeeds
You shove and shove until youre ready for more
And if the truth forgets to visit again
Dont take offense, hes never been here before
Shove! shove! shove! shove!
Shove in my head
Shove! shove! shove! shove!
Shoves you instead
Shove! shove! shove!
Puts you flat on your back
Shove! shove! shove!
Till the quiet attacks
Feels just like someone sank their teeth in my head
They tried to suck away my everlasting soul
I talked to God and all his literary friends
Said I was late so I just shoved it in again
Shove it again!

Sleep well
A trade man fails to sleep;
An artist forgets to sleep;
An enemy fears to sleep;
Be content to sleep well.
An insane fail to think;
A criminal forgets to think;
A debtor fears to think.
Be calm to think well.
A blind fails to see;
An idiot forgets to see;
A lazy one shelves to see.
Be open to see well.

Forgiving Always Forgiving
when you offended me
i did not bother for i understand you
and always think that you tried always loving me as your brother
i always think you meant no offense at all
it is just that you are too disturbed by certain things that until now
you have not really understood
you grapple to hold on to something stable
yet there is none
you struggle to be yourself in peace and harmony with the rest
yet there seems to be nothing
to keep you in place
and so when you shout at me and tell me that i am someone else
a black cat
a wolf in sheep's clothing
the ill wind
the evil lurking in your darkness
i do not mind at all
i know it is not that easy to be in that state
i was there and i was lost and i was too confused
not knowing what i am and where i am going
and i perfectly understand what you are into
and so when you offend me i enjoy the silence of my understanding
you
and the nature of the human being
you and the whole of humanity
you and
the universe
unmoved by evil
undestroyed by indifference and cruelty and inhumanity
i, stand still
i am good, i am beautiful and i will always be on the side of the truth
