Frosty on His Flag (Clementine Sweet)

frosty is lonely
he hangs from a winter blue flag by a pink-roofed house
being blown by a salt-sea breeze

he has no snow people to talk to
he ripples his cloth edges among the sky-high palm trees and
above the candy-green grass

frosty is an outcast
to contrast the deep blue of his flag lies the pale desert sky,
shot through with bright Cali sunshine

frosty is a picture of out-of-placement:
he hangs and he hangs
he sighs and he sighs
all the while homesick
all the while thinking
that sometimes, sometimes
irony is clementine sweet

She Hangs Out

How old dyou say your sister was? (sister was, sister was)
How old dyou say your sister was? (sister was, sister was)
You know youd better keep an eye on her (eye on her, eye on her)
Do the ronde ronde ronde do the rond rond
She hangs out
She hangs out
I heard you taught your sister the bugaloo (bugaloo, bugaloo)
I heard you taught your sister the shigaling too
(shigaling
Too, shigaling too)
Well, she can teach you a thing or two (a thing or two, thing or two)
Do the ronde ronde ronde do the rond rond
She hangs out
She hangs out
Well, she hangs out, hangs out
Every night, every night
You know you best get down here on the double
Before she gets her pretty little self in trouble
Shes...so fine...so fine
I say, how old dyou say your sister was? (sister was, sister was)
How old dyou say your sister was? (sister was, sister was)
You know youd better keep an eye on her (eye on her, eye on her)
Do the ronde ronde ronde do the rond rond
She hangs out
She hangs out
Shes very, very, very, very, very fine
And shes gonna be mine, so fine
She hangs out
She hangs out

Another for Hanque

A poem is joined to everything,
hangs by a thought;

a poet is joined to everything,
hangs by a word;

wisdom’s joined to everything;
hang lightly, golden heart.

Flagging

The flag hangs limply now,
its better days blowing behind it,
it's colours fading.

I remember when its vibrancy
shone like the sunshine
as it billowed softly.

The flag hangs limply now,
behind me, just like my dreams
and I cannot touch tomorrow.

A Baby Asleep after Pain

As a drenched, drowned bee
Hangs numb and heavy from a bending flower,
So clings to me
My baby, her brown hair brushed with wet tears
And laid against her cheek;
Her soft white legs hanging heavily over my arm
Swinging heavily to my movements as I walk.
My sleeping baby hangs upon my life,
Like a burden she hangs on me.
She has always seemed so light,
But now she is wet with tears and numb with pain
Even her floating hair sinks heavily,
Reaching downwards;
As the wings of a drenched, drowned bee
Are a heaviness, and a weariness.

Bangs

Bangs
Above your eyes your hair hangs
Blow my mind your royal flyness I dig your bangs
Bangs
To drape across your forehead
To swing concordant angles as you incline your head
Once with a girl I fell in love sometime ago now she had...
Bangs
Are that on which the world hangs
Im only holding your hand so I can look at your bangs
Bangs
Are like a pocket t-shirt
As casual as that while fully intentional
And in case you think Im here cause I like making chit chat
Just remember what I said the moneys under your hat
Bangs
Are that on which the world hangs
Im only holding your hand so I can look at your bangs
Bangs
Above your eyes your hair hangs
Blow my mind your royal flyness I dig your bangs
Bangs
To drape across your forehead
To swing concordant angles as you incline your head
And although I like you anyway, check out your haircut
A proscenium to stage a face that needs no makeup
Bangs
Are that on which the world hangs
Im only holding your hand so I can look at your bangs
Im only holding your hand so I can look at your bangs

Rudyard Kipling

Road Song of the Bandar-Log

Here we go in a flung festoon,
Half-way up to the jealous moon!
Don't you envy our pranceful bands?
Don't you wish you had extra hands?
Would n't you like if your tails were -- so --
Curved in the shape of a Cupid's bow?
Now you're angry, but -- never mind,
Brother, thy tail hangs down behind!

Here we sit in a branchy row,
Thinking of beautiful things we know;
Dreaming of deeds that we mean to do,
All complete, in a minute or two --
Something noble and grand and good,
Won by merely wishing we could.
Now we're going to -- never mind,
Brother, thy tail hangs down behind!

All the talk we ever have heard
Uttered by bat or beast or bird --
Hide or fin or scale or feather --
Jabber it quickly and all together!
Excellent! Wonderful! Once again!
Now we are talking just like men.
Let 's pretend we are... never mind,
Brother, thy tail hangs down behind!
This is the way of the Monkey-kind.

Some Day One Day

You never heard my song before the music was too loud
But now I think you hear me well for now we both know how
No star can light our way in this cloud of dark and fear
But some day, one day...
Funny how the pages turn and hold us in between
A misty castle waits for you and you shall be a queen
Today the cloud it hangs over us and all is grey
But some day, one day...
When I was you and you were me and we were very young
Together took us nearly there the rest may not be sung
So still the cloud it hangs over us and were alone
But some day, one day...
Well come home

Maybe (feat. Holly Dunn)

MAYBE
Maybe, is a word that hangs between us
It's the thing to say when all else has failed
Maybe we failed, maybe
Maybe, but I can't bare say it's over
Til the love we found is hopelessly lost
Maybe I could, maybe not.
Our lives might have come unwound
But have we've come so far
That we can't turn the hurt around
Our hearts still remain the same
Oh, first to wonder why
Oh, ask to make a change.
But maybe
Maybe, if we hold on to tomorrow
Just hold on, just hold on
Then we just might find a feeling again
Not let it end.
Maybe, it's a word that hangs between us
Maybe, time would help the wondering to stop
Maybe we will know, maybe not
Maybe, maybe.

Sarah

Sarah hangs her head down low.
she won't let them see her cry.
Nobody hears. Nobody cares.
No one's there to watch her die.

Sarah doesn't want to eat.
She starves away her fear.
Thinking if she lost a few more pounds,
She might just disappear.

Sarah starts to hate herself.
she can't bear to exist.
She's not strong. She's not brave.
So she puts a cut on each damned wrist.

Sarah's mind is a disease,
Her heart a hollow cave.
She doesn't fight. She doesn't hope.
She knows she can't be saved.

Sarah just wants to be loved.
She lies down on the floor.
She doesn't try to hide her tears.
She's just not worth it anymore.

Sarah hangs her head down low.
She's too far gone to cry.
Nobody hears. Nobody cares.
No one's there to watch her die.

Where Does That Boy Hang Out

Where where where is he over there
Where where where is he over there
Hes on the corner waiting waiting
Waiting for the right love to walk on by
Hes on the look out he should cause
Hes the one that they take their lovin from
When he looks down deep into their eyes
Their knees start shakin but much to their surprise
Hes gone hes gond hes done it again
Where does the boy hang out
Their on the street dreamin alot
But dreams are trouble if theyre caught
Where does the boy hang out
They try to run away prayin looking for the place
Where he wont be hes on the make
And they tempt him cause hes the one
Theyre gonna take their lovin from
When he looks down deep into their eyes
Their hearts start beating but much to their surprise
Hes gone hes done it again
Where does the boy hang out
Why does he do it
Why must he do it
Dont he know that hes a man jst the same
Oh why must he show it
Why must he know it
That his words will always show em the way
The boy hangs out
The boy hangs out
I said the boy cant help it
The boy hangs out
The boy hangs out
I said the boy cant help it
Im gonna find him and tell him
That he dont have to prove anything to anyone
Im gonna show him that hes alright
And talkins just as good as lvin deep in the night
When he tells his story
So hard to resist hes slow talking
No need to be kissed
Hes smooth hes done it again
Where does the boy hang out
Theyre on the corner dreamin about
But dreams are trouble if theyre caught
Where does the boy hang out
Where does the boy hang out

Just Poor Folks!

just poor folks,
living in an old house,
sleeping in a corner

'neath old handmade quilts.
scrubbing scarred floors
with pinesol pride mops....

while the smell of cornbread and
beans hangs in the air.....
stuffing cracks in the windows

against the cold...
kerosene heater,
2 five gallon cans....

a bare light bulb
hangs over the table....
they sit in silence....

reading and thinking...
the old car in the drive,
might crank, and might not....

but that's tomorrow....
and tonite,
they're almost warm!

Know Thyself (at The Gate)

at the gate
there hangs this notice

know thyself, and i
reflect upon it, how other

people can be so mean
about his neighbor simply because

and this is too important
he is confused and does not know what
to do

about himself, and his being mean,
and so the notice at the gate still hangs in there
and it will be for a long, long time,

until man really knows himself,
which could at time be too confusing too,

for how can one so embellished in himself
not know himself, for how can one be so attached

to his bone and flesh and his veins
be not knowing himself, and so i reflected some more,

where is thyself? is it not a possibility too
that there is no self and so one is too unhappy

because he searches for himself througout his whole
lifetime only to find out that there is no such

self as I?

come to think of it, who am I? and who are you?

Sword

On the wall it hangs,
silently.
In scabbard encased.
Secure.

Secrets

What secrets might it conceal?
Courage, heroism
earned on battle's field?
Challenge?
In conflict no quarter.
Honor?
Was it never drawn with biased intent?

Silence.
Is that subtle clue to all?
Disturb not sleeping essence,
for to disrupt its peace.

Its honed edge will draw
taste, and carry blood's stain.
Sword.

On the wall it hangs,
silent, foreboding.

Symbol..., prophesy?

Flower in a garden

A boy on a bicycle
passes by
and whistles and waves,
but without looking at him
or twisting in his direction
the blonde girl
sprays water on her roses.

Two boys walk past
and call her name
and without looking up,
she shears a lavender bush
and sweat runs
into her eyes.

a Motor biker blows
his noisy cycle’s horn
and without leaving her work,
she keeps on shearing plants.

The girl works until dusk
and while the sun’s
last rays fall,
she is happy in her garden
and when the evening star
hangs in the sky
she is thrilled
with the blooming flowers,
of which the scent
hangs in the air.

While Waiting At The River Styx

While waiting at the river Styx, in twisted time untaught,

From branches of the gallows tree, in recollections wrought,

Your soul, like beggar's blankets, hangs in crazy quilted knots,

With dangling pearls and diamond studs in dripping crimson clots,

And gaping wounds and bulging eyes like fouling apricots,

And wrapped in chains around your neck, the Reaper's grim garrote."

'It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.' (Matthew 19: 24)
