The downside isn't really injury, fear of injury or the process of fighting back from injury. The downside, the very worst thing in the world, is surgery.

Cant Get No Justice
black man
in them poverty chains
cant get no justice
in them sterile white courts.
blue collar man
in them grimy working chains
cant get no justice
in them insulated courts.
freedom man
in them speak out chains
cant get no justice
in them walled off courts.
poor woman, ha!
in them second class chains
cant get no justice
in them man-god courts.
you and me
in them angry tired chains
cant get no justice
in them fictional courts!

This week I was proud to join with my colleagues to help pass two important, common-sense pieces of legislation that will limit the frivolous lawsuits by trial attorneys and personal injury lawyers that clog our courts and hurt our small businesses.

Reject your sense of injury and the injury itself disappears.

There are some cases in which the sense of injury breeds not the will to inflict injuries and climb over them as a ladder, but a hatred of all injury.

Technically, the last number of years, partially from the injury, it's been difficult to push forward but I felt even before the injury that I still could do more and was sort of at a stalemate.

One who is injured ought not to return the injury, for on no account can it be right to do an injustice; and it is not right to return an injury, or to do evil to any man, however much we have suffered from him.

Obtain from yourself all that makes complaining useless. No longer implore from others what you yourself can obtain.

You will read in the newspaper more often about federal courts, but the law that affects people, the trials that affect human beings are by and large in the state courts.

What I Call It
I had a brain injury.
I have a brain injury.
I injured my brain.
There.
I said it four times.
Wrote poem once about
a moth flew round light
in circles till dead.
It
flies through my mind still,
time after time.
Afraid.
What I've lost.
Not quite the same.
Does it matter?
Don't think.

Everyone needs a certain amount of money. Beyond that, we pursue money because we know how to obtain it. We don't necessarily know how to obtain happiness.

Lying under oath, and encouraging lies under oath, does go to the very heart and soul of what courts do. If we say we don't care, let's forget about courts, and we'll just have other ways of figuring out how to handle disputes.

There is a higher court than courts of justice and that is the court of conscience. It supercedes all other courts.

Oh, My Dear Life! (Old Familiar Feelings)
OH Life! , tell me what to obtain:
Is there bliss in material?
Or joy in worldly attachment?
Where to begin my search, OH Life!
Is there dormant peace detachment?
OH! Life, tell me what to obtain?
What wisdom in silence of mouth?
What profound silence passed through time?
Tell me lust or love? flesh or seed?
Power, prowess, mansion and cars?
OH! Life, tell me how to obtain
eternal pure heart and peace of mind
Can one grasp the totality?
Can it all be had in one grab?
or is just you, oh my dear LIFE!
Oh! dear Life, YOU ARE ALL I ask.

Just deserts
I’ve killed before and will again.
I kill for justice not for gain
So many criminals go free
because of their ability.
To hire a lawyer who will try
To make the truth appear a lie
So they escape just punishment.
Although it is self evident
That crafty legal argument
based on some ancient precedent
The merest technicality
persuades the judge to set them free
I’m not constrained by petty rules
and those that are I see as fools
I pursue justice ceaselessly
and do my duty faithfully
And those I deem deserve to die.
The punishment that I apply.
Is merely justice long delayed
I play the part that I have played.
That of the executioner
Or murderer if you prefer.
For many years without remorse
And I will carry on of course.
I’ve killed before and will again
As long as criminals obtain.
Immunity they don’t deserve
a fact I frequently observe.
In courts of law. Guilty men go free.
Blind justice can depend on me.
To disregard such foolishness
I am completely pitiless.
Though self appointed I redress
injustice with some small success.
I operate in secrecy
It is a prime necessity.
You do not need to know my name
I have no wish for worldly fame.
I take my duties seriously.
and that’s reward enough for me.
I rectify the courts mistakes
a little thought is all it takes.
Each guilty man the courts set free.
I’ll execute eventually.
But I must make it crystal clear
that innocents have naught to fear.
I only punish guilty men
before they can offend again.
Prevention is better than cure
I see no reason to endure.
Acquittals earned by lawyer’s lies.
I think a higher law applies.
If you transgress then you must pay.
There’s nothing more I need to say. http: //blog.myspace.com.poeticpiers

Hymn 93
Christ, or Wisdom, obeyed or resisted.
Prov. 8:34-36.
Thus saith the Wisdom of the Lord,
"Blest is the man that hears my word,
Keeps daily watch before my gates,
And at my feet for mercy waits.
"The soul that seeks me shall obtain
Immortal wealth and heav'nly gain;
Immortal life is his reward;
Life, and the favor of the Lord.
"But the vile wretch that flies from me
Doth his own soul an injury;
Fools that against my grace rebel
Seek death, and love the road to hell."

It was the courts, of course, that took away prayer from our schools, that took away Bible reading from our schools. It's the courts that gave us same-sex marriage. So it is quite a battlefield, and the Supreme Court is the highest court in the land.
