She has run out without hat from the house
Humoresque
He was passive, loved humility,
She loved a joyful life,
It caused in him anxiety,
And irritation could not it hidden …
She has wanted to play on a guitar,
The fine lady searched for an adventure,
The husband was disturbed, has begun to smoke a cigar,
Took from bank the big credit …
She has run out without a hat from the house,
Charm of the men, flaring dreams …
The husband 'has revolted', has run in a casino,
He has put all the credit, on colour of her plaid …
The destiny has played, the «'The passive'» has won,
He became similar to the skilled player …
About habits of the wife, laughed vulgarly,
Though He was 'raised' on red plaid …

Ca' the Yowes to the Knowes
Chorus:
Ca' the yowes to the knowes,
Ca' them where the heather grows,
Ca' them where the burnie rowes,
My bonie dearie
As I gaed down the water-side,
There I met my shepherd lad:
He row'd me sweetly in his plaid,
And he ca'd me his dearie.
Chorus
Will ye gang down the water-side,
And see the waves sae sweetly glide
Beneath the hazels spreading wide,
The moon it shines fu' clearly.
Chorus
Ye sall get gowns and ribbons meet,
Cauf-leather shoon upon your feet,
And in my arms ye'se lie and sleep,
An' ye sall be my dearie.
Chorus
If ye'll but stand to what ye've said,
I'se gang wi' thee, my shepherd lad,
And ye may row me in your plaid,
And I sall be your dearie.
Chorus
While waters wimple to the sea,
While day blinks in the lift sae hie,
Till clay-cauld death sall blin' my e'e,
Ye sall be my dearie.
Chorus

I loved Catholic school. I didn't like being beeped at by old pervs at the gas station because I was wearing a plaid skirt, though. It's like, do you think I'm going to stop and give you my phone number?

Plaid
Some will say its too late,
So dont change the story.
Theres too much at stake to grow.
Yesterday was so great,
Just bask in the glory.
Dont let your feelings show.
And I say,
Oh yeah like a man with condition
I wait for my heart to stop.
Stay down,
Got a plan hold that position.
You cant afford a flop.
Pack my suitcase
With my game face,
Take the same place,
And put away the dreams I had.
Let my hair grow,
Find some old clothes,
Let the world know
That my glory days were plaid.
Im not asking for permission,
Are you ready for me to be me.
Just pass the ammunition,
This prisoners about to bust free from chains.
For so long you told me to keep it familiar,
Just play what they all would find,
I can wear this blindfold, stick to your story,
But I gotta ask myself why.
And I play, ..., goes on
For so many seasons,
Til Im sure Im losing my mind.
And I say, oh no,
Gotta have a much better reason
To leave all my dreams behind.
Strangers,
Rearrange us,
Stay the same fate,
And become your favorite fad.
With the see-through,
I gotta be true,
I cant be you.
While yes still comes in plaid.
Im not asking for permission
Are you ready for me to be me.
Lord, pass some ammunition,
This prisoners about to bust free from your chains.
Im more than just excited,
Like a hundred pounds of monkey on my back.
Now everybodys divided,
Were riding this train til we run clear out of track.
Clean of track.

The Sentinels
They are here
Sentinels
Still and straight as Celtic crosses
Plaid and inlay
Woven with visions within their tresses
Carved from the bleached carcass of driftwood tortured in the surf
Then gone-but not quite
Held as an echo in the moan in the wind
the trembling light on the headland
the lyric of the gull
the light in your eyes.......

Daddy Went Walkin
My old dad went a walkin one day,
Pushing tall weeds right outta his way,
My old dad went a walkin one day,
Hey now, hey now
Corduroy pants and an old plaid shirt,
Daddy went a walkin just to feel the earth,
Got a little dirty but thats all right,
Hey now, hey now
Old man crossing the road,
Youve got to let him go,
Old man crossing the road,
Hes feelin fine
Daddy went a ridin in his old car,
Took the dog with him cause it aint too far,
Daddy went ridin in his old car,
Hey now, hey now
Brown leather boots and an old straw hat,
Daddys getting wood with the barnyard cat,
Got a little dirty but thats all right,
Hey now, hey now
Old man crossing the road,
Youve got to let him go,
Old man crossing the road,
Hes feelin fine
Mamas waiting
At the top of the hill,
Theyll be laughing,
Oh the stories theyll tell...
When he holds her
In his arms again,
Theyll be sweethearts
With time on their hands
My old dad went a walkin one day,
Pushing tall weeds right outta his way,
My old dad went a walkin one day,
Hey now, hey now
Corduroy pants and an old plaid shirt,
Daddy went a walkin just to feel the earth,
Got a little dirty but thats all right,
Hey now, hey now
Daddy went a ridin in his old car,
Took the dog with him cause it aint too far,
Daddy went ridin in his old car,
Hey now, hey now
Brown leather boots and an old straw hat,
Daddys getting wood with the barnyard cat,
Got a little dirty but thats all right,
Hey now, hey now

A Flaminingo Should be More than Pink
A flamingo should be
More than just pink
Don’t you think?
It’s a nice color
But they could come
in others-
Oh it would be sweet
not just pink
perhaps blue
Green or red
Some plaid too
Maybe
Polka dot too
would be ever so nice
so boring it is
at a gala you see
to come dressed
in the same
again and again
So I’d like to propose
To someone who knows
That a flamingo
Can change
their color at will
for a flamingo should be more than just pink

The Veteran
When I was young and bold and strong,
Oh, right was right, and wrong was wrong!
My plume on high, my flag unfurled,
I rode away to right the world.
"Come out, you dogs, and fight!" said I,
And wept there was but once to die.
But I am old; and good and bad
Are woven in a crazy plaid.
I sit and say, "The world is so;
And he is wise who lets it go.
A battle lost, a battle won-
The difference is small, my son."
Inertia rides and riddles me;
The which is called Philosophy.

The Shirt
The buttonholes were empty.
The buttons had all let go.
The shirt was now a remnant,
one he did outgrow.
The sleeves were short so he rolled them.
The plaid material was faded.
Now it was getting much too tight
as he saw his name brocaded.
The name was what she called him,
'Sonny, sonny boy.'
Her voice came back when he wore it.
It was a sound of joy.
He would have to give up wearing it
and pray that she would know
that no other shirt he'd ever wear
were what her hands did sew.
Mom. dear mom you come alive
everytime I see that shirt.
It helps me when I'm missing you.
It takes away the hurt.
Every other shirt that I have worn
could never quite replace
the feeling I get when I see it
for I see your loving face.

In The Pass Of Killicranky
SIX thousand veterans practised in war's game,
Tried men, at Killicranky were arrayed
Against an equal host that wore the plaid,
Shepherds and herdsmen.--Like a whirlwind came
The Highlanders, the slaughter spread like flame;
And Garry, thundering down his mountain-road,
Was stopped, and could not breathe beneath the load
Of the dead bodies.--'Twas a day of shame
For them whom precept and the pedantry
Of cold mechanic battle do enslave.
O for a single hour of that Dundee,
Who on that day the word of onset gave!
Like conquest would the Men of England see;
And her Foes find a like inglorious grave.

Mr. Morning
Dawn's personage sheds its nightcap
in sleepy slow motion,
like a child too tired to rise out of his bed
when cold air sneaks in
under the covers.
But,
the sun's warm woolen slippers
nudge the way toward
a brand new day,
and after shaving clean with winter cream,
he rouses fully to
select the clothes he'll wear…
that blue plaid shirt that fades to grey
with yesterday's
yellow workpants
showing off his flamboyance.
Picking up his landscape lunchbox,
he heads out the door
singing a song that is as serene
as the ocean is vast.

Miasma Of Forces
Like a RagDoll tossed high in the air
All feathers and stuffing floating 'round
Only one way up
No safe way to come down!
No ladders-no safety net
Only plaid-only lace
The chosen poison decreed
Wore blood on its face!
So sudden-so sudden
Copious burgandy to bright red
Hemorage of a Lifes River
Came calling upon this RagDolls bed!
Nothing left for remembrance
No sewing needles-no eyes
Unable to mend even her red tresses
No fond goodbyes!
Just a RagDoll tossed way up
One too many times to even be fair
By a core of village idiots
Who disappeared into thin air!

I blew the dust of his black velvet wings…
He touched me firstly in the sunlight…
I touched him secondly on that moonlit night.
Thirdly; he then touched that red velvet velour.
It was then I'd lost count and we sang, amour…
amour… Amour…!
Like coupled moths we went passionately mad.
It was then I blew the dust of his black velvet wings...
O' then my heart and soul danced pattern-plaid.
In the weft of his dark pale limbs fittings
O' it was then I became his sun burning pleasure.
The moonlight I shivered longing lost to become her.
And then we rolled all day and night long—together.

Dreams
To anyone who can dream
And then awaken,
Remembering the impossibility
Of what was only mirrored
In your mind,
During a given night,
Actually happened there...
Dreams arrive not from nowhere
But from somewhere else,
A strive vehicles of memory,
Transcribed within the space
Of a plaid network...
The puzzle of Faith, Hope,
Truth, Beauty, Love and Peace
Surrounding the Earth,
Claims of Spirit! ...
Dreams are tokens of reality,
Merely disheveled and suggested
In the fantastic unfolding
Of discarded old written notes,
Illegible but then revised
And re-arranged in such a way
That one day, perhaps,
Would impress the World
With his or her Love,
Art and Wisdom...

The Plaid Dress
Strong sun, that bleach
The curtains of my room, can you not render
Colourless this dress I wear?—
This violent plaid
Of purple angers and red shames; the yellow stripe
Of thin but valid treacheries; the flashy green of kind deeds done
Through indolence high judgments given here in haste;
The recurring checker of the serious breach of taste?
No more uncoloured than unmade,
I fear, can be this garment that I may not doff;
Confession does not strip it off,
To send me homeward eased and bare;
All through the formal, unoffending evening, under the clean
Bright hair,
Lining the subtle gown. . .it is not seen,
But it is there.

Hateful
She is livin far away from a lonely man in the san francisco bay,
He is dreamin hard of a girl all claid in bad plaid and mad at the whole world
All her friends they are blessed impressed intelligent freaks,
All of them are six feet tall all of them are hateful to me
She sleeps alone and wet with her phone in her face all tied up in her old bed,
She walks alone everyday up and down the rainy streets in her own weird way
All her friends they are blessed impressed intelligent freaks,
All of them are six feet tall all of them are hateful to me,
Hateful, yeah theyre hateful to me...
Getting very hateful

Esther, A Sonnet Sequence: XLV
I followed dumb and shrinking like a thief
Close in her shadow from the women's guess,
Yet ruthlessly betrayed for my cheeks' grief
From head to foot in the tall pier--glasses.
My vagabond attire, my coat all rags,
My tattered plaid stained with the summer's dust,
The sash which bound my waist all gaps and jags,
With gaiters frayed and such sad shoes as must
Have served Ulysses at his journey's close;
All these I saw revealed to my disgrace,
My hat still crowned with its last Alpine rose,
And what she had called my ``John the Baptist's face''
Red with confusion and the rage of youth,
I saw it all, the whole remorseless truth.

Sparkle
I remember when you seemed real shiny with the sweat of your voice
Shaky hands super load and teenage mouth
We were all charmed and taken with your talk
Now I shudder when I hear the rhythm of your walk
Now Ive got no place to go Ive got no place to go
Ive got no one, nowhere, no one
I have given up on the sparkle that I saw in your eyes
I have sinned the sin of wanting more
The belly fire pulls the spirit from the corporate whore
Im embarrassed by the plaid you wear
If I were you Id hide behind that stupid bleach blonde hair
Now Ive got no place to go Ive got no place to go
Ive got no one, nowhere, no one
I have given up on the sparkle that I saw in you
Yeah that simple minded sparkle that I thought I saw
Yes I have wondered why you changed
I like it when you were super loud
I wonder if youre giving in tell me why youre giving in
