I love doing comedy - I get a laugh out of it, it's not so serious.

I love a good laugh as well, I think that's so important in life, which is probably why I've dabbled in comedy writing as well as horror. I think if you can make someone laugh or smile it's the most special thing in the world.
What is comedy? Comedy is the art of making people laugh without making them puke.

I think that comedy really tells you how it is. The other thing about comedy is that - you don't even know if you're failing in drama, but you do know when you're failing in comedy. When you go to a comedy and you don't hear anybody laughing, you know that you've failed.

Illusion and Laughter
Are illusions made to be
laughed with, laughed at,
laughed away?
Is the human comedy also
a divine comedy? Should we
not wail, but share the joke?
The children’s party conjuror
and the handkerchief, the rabbit,
the flock of doves – they’re here, then
they’re not… we laugh
at our own disbelief.
This illusion that the world is real,
and that God does not look us in the face
at every turn, in every detail –
should we laugh, acknowledging
a good joke, and ourselves the butt;
remove our own false nose, and eyes and ears,
take out the incarnation from our buttonhole
which squirts squid-ink at unsuspecting friends..
applaud the conjuror?

South Shores Lake Worth
Hemp's South Shore Comedy night,
you could hear comedy, have drinks and a bite.
Sitting with Jim at a table in the back,
watching the comics yak and yak.
It was fun I have to say,
Jim and me did comedy starting at 8.
Jim was a deadpan comic so he worked his punchline
he had a laugh all the time.
He even sang a Johny Cash song,
it was "Ring of Fire" a joke about his
_____not his dong.
Now I went on stage after him with Razel so cold,
she would make fun of the audience, she was bold.
For Razel would make fun of anyone she was mad at,
she was blunt and obnoxious like a brat.
Now funny times with Jim was such a delight,
we had fun at Hemp's South Shore Comedy night.

I've always been part of comedy. One of the things about our family was that if we were reasonably funny with each other, particularly my two brothers and myself, when my father was upset with something you'd want to make sure in some way you made him laugh. Because when he didn't laugh, you were in trouble!

There's a lot of comedy in Intermission but it's got this depth. It's not comedy for comedy's sake - it's informed by something else. I like stuff like that.

At those times I got into... I suppose you call it a rut. I used to do comedy, comedy, comedy and I suddenly thought I ought to break away from this somehow.
I love drama, I feel that that’s much easier. They say that dying is easy and comedy is hard. Comedy is definitely more challenging but I love doing both.

Laugh
Love laughed at you and made you blue
Now heres what you should do
Well laugh, though your heart is breaking in two
Yeah laugh, dont let them know he hurt you
Well laugh and pretend true love will come again
Yeah laugh, laugh and laugh
Laugh, though the one you love is really gone
Yeah laugh, even though youll be alone
Yeah laugh and pretend true love will come again
Yeah laugh, laugh and laugh
Well let me hear you laugh now
Though its hard, so hard for you to do
Laugh with me, cos you see
Ive been there too
Well laugh and pretend true love will come again
Yeah laugh and believe its not the end
Yeah laugh like a clown
Dont let your heart break down
Yeah laugh, laugh and laugh
Love laughed, its true
But look at you
Now youre laughing too

Yet there are some people - Steve Allen would dissect comedy forever; he's a really funny guy, but he would love talking about comedy. I'm doing it right now and you all seem bored.
Theo does comedy now, and he's traveling around the country doing comedy, and I actually just saw him, he's from Louisiana, and I just saw him when I went home to visit my family in Louisiana. I saw his comedy show and he was brilliant.

Love O My Love
Love O my love
I didn’t know life is so tough!
Love O my love
You make me cry, you make me laugh!
Love O my love
See what you have done to me:
I am no longer the man I used to be!
Love O my love
You can make my life a tragedy!
Love O my love
You can make my life a comedy!
Love O my love
You have made me so crazy:
I am no longer the man I used to be!
