There is a strange duality in the human which makes for an ethical paradox. We have definitions of good qualities and of bad; not changing things, but generally considered good and bad throughout the ages and throughout the species. Of the good, we think always of wisdom, tolerance, kindliness, generosity, humility; and the qualities of cruelty, greed, self-interest, graspingness, and rapacity are universally considered undesirable. And yet in our structure of society, the so-called and considered good qualities are invariable concomitants of failure, while the bad ones are the cornerstones of success.

Dearest Dad
What better occasion than Father's Day to write to express how proud I am of you and to thank you from the bottom of my heart for being such a wonderful father. You have always been there when I needed your advice, encouragement or a well-deserved kick in the pants.
I thank God for so many good things that have happened in my life. I have no doubt that none of them would have been possible without your guiding influence. I am confident in my abilities. This confidence was surely nurtured in my early years by your guiding hand.
You have always been the model of the kind of father I have wanted to be. I have tried to live up to your high standards of honesty and openness. Though I have made my share of mistakes as a dad, I am proud that both Erika and Sasha exhibit many of the fine qualities that you taught me.
Each day seems to pass by a little faster. I can't believe that your first little boy is now 61 years old. As I reflect on my life and the wonderful family experiences, I can't recall even one bad memory…except maybe for good ol' Betsy, your belt.
I am as excited about seeing you next week as I was at Marquette University after the finals were over. The pure sense of love and giving that you represent, dearest Dad, is a rare commodity these days. As rare as the wonderful family you have created.
Dad, you're as fine as they come in every respect. I thank you and God
everyday for allowing me to be a part of your life. I love you so very mu

They Say Its Wonderful
They say that falling in love is wonderful
Its wonderful, so they say
And, with a moon up above, its wonderful
Its wonderful, so they tell me
I cant recall who said it
I know I never read it
I only know they tell me that love is grand
And
The thing thats known as romance is wonderful, wonderful
In every way, so they say
To leave your house some morning
And, without any warning
Youre stopping people, shouting that love is grand
And
To hold a girl in your arms is wonderful, wonderful
In every way
So they say

Written poetry is different. Best thing is to see it in performance first, then read it. Performance is more provocative.

Wonderful
You are the sunshine of my life another shakespeare of your time
Your like a ribbon in the sky you are a poet's endless rhyme
You take me to a higher ground then you knock me off my feet
Lately i been thinking bout you, cause you been creeping in my dreams
You inspire me the way you make me feel inside is amazing
Your honesty your artistry is engaging
You are everything i hope to be
You have touch my soul i want you to know you are my hero
You got so much soul to put it plain and simple you are wonderful

There Is Such A Thing
There is such a thing as bravery.
That would be me.
But still I quake in my boots.
Acting cool.
There is such a thing as honesty
But you have to have bravery
To wield it
There is such a thing as
Knowledge of Self
But you have to brandish honesty
To learn it
There is such a thing as peace
But you have to Know your Self
To find it
There is such a thing as Happiness
But you have to find Peace
To embrace it
There is such a thing as Fear
But if you’ve found your bravery
You can stare it down
Quaking in your boots

You steal and take from everyone else do you feel good about yourself
Instead of taking try to give and then you'll feel good about the way you live

What A Wonderful Life
(words & music by wayne - livingston)
Its a wonderful life
This life Im livin
What a wonderful life, days with a life of ease, oh-ho-oh
Well, Ive got no job to worry me
No big bad boss to hurry me
Its a wonderful life lifes good to me
Its a wonderful road
This road Im travelin
Its a wonderful road headin beyond the hills, oh-ho-oh
Oh it may go straight or it may detour
But one thing that I know for sure
Its a wonderful life, lifes good to me
Dont know where Im goin
Dont care where Im goin
Like the four winds are blowin I go on
Laughin the day away, lovin the night away
Till the moon is gone
Its a wonderful life
This life Im livin
What a wonderful life
Livin the life I love, oh yeah
Well Ive got neighbors, Ive got friends
Just about anywhere the rainbow ends
Its a wonderful life, lifes good to me
Dont know where Im goin
Dont care where Im goin
Like the four winds are blowin I go on
Laughin the day away, lovin the night away
Till the moon is gone
Its a wonderful life
This life Im livin
What a wonderful life
Livin the life I love, oh yeah
Well Ive got neighbors, Ive got friends
Just about anywhere the rainbow ends
Its a wonderful life, lifes good to me
What a wonderful life, lifes good to me, yeah
Crazy life, lifes good to me
Oh what a life

Too Much Of A Good Thing
Smiles in the morning
As warm as sunshine
Kisses when I lay down at night
And 2 loving arms
To console me
I should be scared, it's so right
But, too much of a good thing
Is a good thing
Feelings like this can't be wrong
And, too much of a good thing
Is a good thing
And we've got a good thing going on
You look in my eyes
And see my thinkin'
I know when you're happy, when you're sad
Someone said
It's too perfect
But, I don't think what we have is so bad
Cause, too much of a good thing
Is a good thing
Feelings like this can't be wrong
And, too much of a good thing
Is a good thing
And we've got a good thing going on
And we've got a good thing going on

In all honesty
In all honesty
today has been
something out of the ordinary.
In all honesty
I could do with some christmas carols
and a mug of hot chocolate.
In all honesty
walking on the road without a sidewalk
is more exhilerating than anything else.
In all honesty
watching fog settle over the road
can bring tears to anyones eyes.
In all honesty
you're the only person
I'm mostly honest to.
In all honesty
this poem
is entirely honest.

Ive Got A Good Thing
(jerry ragavoy / mort shuman)
I got a good thing
I got a good thing
I got a good thing going
Take the sun and take the moon
And stars that shine so bright
All I need is my guy
And everythings all right
Everything about him thrills me
The way he looks at me just kills me
Hes got a way of getting to me
Every kiss just goes right through me
I got a good thing
You know I got a good thing, baby
I got a good thing going
Take the rainbow from the sky
Oh, I dont really care
I will have a pot of gold
As long as he is there
I never knew such sweet affection
And its all in my direction
If he left theres no mistaking
My poor heart would start to break and
I got a good thing
You know I got a good thing going
I got a good thing going, yeah
I got a good thing, yeah
You know I got a good thing going
You know I got a sweet thing baby
Everything is everything, baby
Everything is uptight, all right, out of sight
Yeah, I got a good thing going, yeah
You know I got a good thing

Wonderful
These are the days I love,
And Ill be happier than most
Crossing england coast to coast,
Through your town,
And as I cross the land
And I cry a salty tear,
For those who are not here
On this day
Youre wonderful
So wonderful,
Its good to see you
Youre wonderful
So wonderful,
Its great to be here.
And as I think back when
Life was uncomplicated then
We had some things we hated
But more that we loved
And we took care to wear
What nobody else would wear
Cos we didnt really care
In those days
Youre wonderful
So wonderful,
Its good to see you
Youre wonderful
So wonderful,
Its great to be here.

Keeping the Main Thing Primary
Keeping the Main thing Primary
Does it work?
Or, Is it right?
Which is the main question in YOUR life?
Will it help equipment, issues, and relationships...work out or not
Or is it the right thing for me, or us, for God.
Does it work?
Is it right?
Which is the primary question of your life?

I Would Like To Write A Billy Collins Poem
I WOULD LIKE TO WRITE A BILLY COLLINS’ POEM
I would like to write a Billy Collins poem-
Not for Billy Collins
But to show that I could be as imaginative in story
As humorous and humane as he is-
But I can’t write that poem.
I don’t have his gift for the everyday experience
And for surprising metaphor
For those qualities good poets ordinarily have-
I would like to write a Billy Collins poem
To show that I can be a good poet too.
But probably I am just a different kind of thing entirely.
Still reading Billy Collins poems has added a bit
To my sense of what Poetry is-
It is remarkable all the wonderful gifts others have
One can appreciate
Without having oneself.

Only Thing That Looks Good On Me Is You
I don't look good in no Armani Suits
No Gucci shoes - or designer boots
I've tried the latest lines from A to Z
But there's just one thing that looks good on me
The only thing I want
The only thing I need
The only thing I choose
The only thing that looks good on me...is you
I'm not satisfied with Versace style
Put those patent leather pants - in the circular file
Sometimes I think - I might be lookin' good
But there's only one thing that fits me like it should
The only thing I want
The only thing I need
The only thing I choose
The only thing that looks good on me...is you
Ya it's you - it could only be you
Nobody else will ever do
Ya baby it's you - that I stick to
Ya we stick like glue
The only thing I want
The only thing I need
The only thing I choose
The only thing that looks good on me...is you

Bernie Mac
(DEDICATED TO BERNIE MAC WHO DIED AUGUST 9,2008.)
He was a credit to people who are black.
The person who I'm speaking of was Bernie Mac.
He gave a great performance in Bad Santa and in his own show.
People were devastated when he died several weeks ago.
He was a man who loved to entertain.
When he died, his fans truly experienced pain.
August 9,2008 was a day that many people regret.
He may be dead but he's a man who nobody will forget.
His final performance was in Soul men.
It's sad that he'll never star in anything again.
This talented man had too many qualities for me to list.
He was very special and he will be sorely missed.
