Bernie Mac
(DEDICATED TO BERNIE MAC WHO DIED AUGUST 9,2008.)
He was a credit to people who are black.
The person who I'm speaking of was Bernie Mac.
He gave a great performance in Bad Santa and in his own show.
People were devastated when he died several weeks ago.
He was a man who loved to entertain.
When he died, his fans truly experienced pain.
August 9,2008 was a day that many people regret.
He may be dead but he's a man who nobody will forget.
His final performance was in Soul men.
It's sad that he'll never star in anything again.
This talented man had too many qualities for me to list.
He was very special and he will be sorely missed.

In Memory of Elvis
Posted August 2009.
Elvis Presley, the King of Rock 'n' Roll.
Presley the legend, generous, talented soul.
So attractive to the eye; Elvis had the magic
No man or woman clould deny.
On 16 August 77, sadly Elvis died
And now he is at peace in the heaven on high.
His beautiful musical score will be
in our hearts forevermore...
The world will never ever forget.

Twenty Seven
Poor old Amy Winehouse
she has died far too young
a talented and gifted star
but addictive and highly strung.
She now joins those others
who left their fans in pain
like the great Jimi Hendrix
and Nirvanas Kurt Kobain.
They were so creative
but with minds not at rest
they hit the drink and drugs
when life put them to the test.
Janis Joplin was a great singer
who could really sing the Blues
but her life ended at twenty seven
from too much drugs and booze.
Jim Morrison from the Doors
died at that very same age
he drank himself into oblivion
to cope with his inner rage.
All these great artists gone
all died at the age of twenty seven
they struggled with their demons on earth
let's hope their at peace now in Heaven.

If i Died Today
If idied today i would cry
i would cry for all the time i spent being sad
when i could have been smiling
if i died today i would weep
i would weep for all the love i never felt
when i was alive
If i died today i would be sad
sad that i never really got to feel special,
loved and cared for
If i died today it would break my heart
break my heart for all the times i have cried,
cried because i was in pain
if i died today i would be regretful
regretful for all for all the time wasted on vanity
and worrying what other people will think of me
if i died today i would forgive myself
forgive myself for being my best enemy
forgive myself for hating me so much
if i died today i would be devasted
devasted that i never really got to appreciate,
appreciate myself
if i died today i would feel lost because,
i have never really known
or found myself
if i died today i would miss me
i would miss me because i forgot all about mealong time ago
if i died to day i would cry for me.

Performance
We are all performers
on a daily stage,
each of us having a part
to play the best we can
from waking in the morning
to sleeping late at night.
Every performance
is watched from on high
and he sends us a message
when we get our performance wrong.
He tell us in his own way
how to mend the performance
that we gave,
then we go out and start
all over again,
only this time
to right the wrongs we made.

The Man Died
The man died and died and died
And finally the man died!
People killed the man severally
Before the man finally died
The mans family labelled
The man dead.
The community labelled
The man dead
.
And above all the man saw in Himself a living ghost
And had since decayed and rotted inside
That not even the warmt
Of a living blood
Could've been enough
To bring the man back
To life again.

The Day I Died
The air was close, but it would not rain
The day I died.
And smog enshrouded Gotham town
The day I died..
I should have stayed in Oceanside
The day I died.
Instead of a hellish subway ride
The day I died.
It started with a stabbing pain
The day I died.
Then waves of nausea deep inside
The day I died.
I fell to earth, I could not breathe
The day I died.
Co workers rushing to my side
The day I died.
Sirens scream on distant streets
The day I died.
bringing hosts of E.M.T.’s
The day I died..
Too late for me, this proud heart fails
The day I died.
I thought” This is the last of Earth”
The day I died.

I Would Die For
Often I have heard people say
I would die for this and that
whenever material things
are too expensive or out of reach
and catches the eye.
If they died for these things
how much would they enjoy them?
They would be dead before they get them.
Now if we were going to put your life
on the line for something,
lets make it tangible real and alive,
not something that we can replace
tomorrow or at any time.
You cannot replace family or friends;
they are worth putting your life on the line for.
So the next time you see
something your heart desires to own,
don’t say I would die for that
because you can never enjoy it
when you’re dead and gone.

If i died tomorrow
if i died tomorrow
would you be hit by the sorrow
would you just shrug your shoulders
record my death and stick it in some folders
because if i die the world will continue
but not just for the others including you
but also for tom dick and harry
and even for that man standing on his larry
ofcourse i would be missed by some
not to see that would be dumb
but looking back at the times ive had
my life has not been that bad
so if i died tomorrow
nothing more i would borrow
another breath i would not take
so listen to me for goodness sake
i dont regret my life
even if it has been a bit of a strife
and if i dont regret it
not even one little bit
then why should u care if i die
why should you even let out a sigh
you should care because i am dead inside
because i have made people crie
i have cause accidents and solved some
and cause people to become scum
i made people swear and curse
and caused myself a increadible thirst
ive caused fights between friends
when the solution was just round the bend
ive lost friends and gained new ones
and caused people to hold there tongues
yes ive caused many incidents
and ive never made a mint
my problems are nothing to be proud off
some may say they made me soft
but i am what i am
an what you think of me i dont give a damn
because if i died tomorrow
then everyone i know would feel sorrow

Last Card
Today
I died
A thousand deaths
Today
The world
Stops spinning
Today
My heart bleeds
In crucial pain
Today
I lost
My last card
Today
I cried
My last tears
Today
I heard
My last voice
Today
I sang
My last song
Today
My last hope
Ceased to dwell
Today
I mourned
My own funeral

The Holocaust Song (August 6th, '45.)
8-15 Tuesday morning
a burning flash dissolved the skies,
death reigned without warning...
August 6th, '45.
In a lightning crash of frozen moment,
thousands were incinerated and scourged alive;
firewinds flayed through paper houses...
August 6th, '45.
People cauterized to the melting earth,
their scalding blood, their flesh that fried:
they were the lucky ones...
August 6th, '45.
Who put the horror in Hiroshima?
Who wrote shock on the human eye?
Who etched terror onto mankind's future
that August 6th, '45?
Across the warscape of that flattened city
women stumbled too numb to cry,
their skin pulped with boiling blisters...
August 6th, '45.
Lines of shuffling, staring figures
too stunned and sick to wonder why,
their faces shocked but past all panic...
August 6th, '45.
People peeled like red bananas,
those people lived but quickly died;
skin that hung like paper streamers...
August 6th, '45.
Who put the horror in Hiroshima?
Who permitted genocide?
Who sanctioned that mad disaster
on August 6th, '45.
Lurching beings like lifeless corpses
silhouette an ashen sky;
they wandered, abject, without purpose...
August 6th, '45.
Whose pride murdered Nagasaki?
Whose decision prepared the lies?
Were they doomed or just unlucky
that August day, '45?
Escape's denied to all survivors,
cancers haunt them till the day they die.
And their heirs will curse the craven authors
of August 6th, '45.

A tribute to Philip Levine. For Hanque
Tenderness. It was forty-seven years ago
and Bernie Strempek and I were in this bar
in downtown Detroit watching this
beautiful second-rate jazz singer
and Bernie started to talk
about tenderness.
His father had abandoned this family of four
and so his mother worked nights
at Ford Rouge and she knew
Bernie wanted to become a poet
and she totally supported that.
Bernie was a guy of amazing smarts
who seemed almost too gentle
and delicate for this world
in which he did not long remain.
I didn’t know the word tenderness
but when Bernie talked of it
I thought wow, I could use some of that.

On that Friday
On that day
Babies were born
Elderly died
Flowers bloomed
Crops grew
Breezes blew
The sun crossed the sky
On that day
Some men cursed
Other men worked
Some women sighed
Children played
Babies cried
People walked the earth
On that day
Birds sang
Insects chirped
Donkey’s brayed
Dogs barked
Fish jumped
Rivers ran to the seas
On that day
People woke
People ate
People spoke
People loved
People slept
The sun rose and set
On that day
Everything was the same
Until He died
So that everything changed

Only Sad Memories
Do you know why it’s so hard to let go?
Because it’s impossible to forget your memories
But if you think that’s hard to have happy memories
Imagine having only sad ones to hold on to
So many reminders of what I have lost
Only a fading hope to try and gain it back
Your name is everywhere
Reminders of you are constant
I had so many dreams of you
So much happiness
Then it was ripped away
And dreams became nightmares
I had so much love in my heart saved and waiting for you
But know that love is gone
Leaving behind only emptiness
A hole in my heart
I don’t get why I’m still waiting for you
I know you’ll never come
I know I’ll never hold you or see you or hear you
But you were gone so quickly
My heart was prepared for you to come
Not for you to leave
So when you left
A part of me did too
I was not ever ready to fight
To lose you but it happened
I should let go of my memories
think of reminders of you as hope for the future
That’s almost impossible my memories are truly sad yes
But Holding on to those memories are better then forgetting you completely

Michael Jackson, the Thriller, Died
Michael Jackson, the Thriller, Died
Life is unfair
To those who dare
Life is cruel
To those who sit idle.
Black people die
White people die
Multiracial people die
Rich people die
Poor people die
Children cry
Adults sigh
With remorse
In front of the corpse.
The dancer, the mega-star can no longer fly,
The floor can no longer remain dry.
The mournful river has inundated the stage;
This is the final curtain, the last page
Of a sad story of Cinderella,
Who drowned after falling in a deep coma.
Beautiful people die
Eccentric people die
Brown people die
Famous people die
No-name people die
And that's no lie.
The king died
The queen cried
All night long
Like a splenetic song
The whole world mourned
We are daily warned and scorned
By death
The thief who has the nerves to attack: the deaf
The sick, the young and the old
The exotic, the odd and the bold.
At 50, he died young,
Without playing the last song.
Death and life are unfair,
And farewell is never fair.
Michael will be missed,
May he rest in peace!

I Just Died In Your Arms
Oh i, i just died in your arms tonight
It must have been something you said
I just died in your arms tonight
I keep looking for something
I can't get broken hearts lie all around me
And i don't see an easy way to get out of this
Her diary it sits on the bedside table
The curtains are closed
The cats in the cradle who would've thought
That a boy like me could come to this
Oh i, i just died in your arms tonight
It must've been something you said
I just died in your arms tonight
Oh i, i just died in your arms tonight
It must've been some kind of kiss i should've walked away
Is there any just cause for feeling like this?
On the surface i'm a name on a list i try to be discreet
But then blow it again
I've lost and found
It's my final mistake she's loving by proxy
No give and all take 'cos i've been thrilled to fantasy one too many times.
Oh i, i just died in your arms...
It was a long hot night she made it easy
She made it feel right
But now it's over the moment has gone
I followed my hands not my head
I know i was wrong
Oh i, i just died in your arms...

Letter To A Soldier
Letter To A Soldier
A soldier got a letter, from the one he loved the most,
he looked at her new picture and he began to boast,
about his lovely wife and their kids back home,
which made all his buddies, think about their own,
when he was all alone, with her letter in his hand,
he thought about the love they had, and began to understand,
the reasons he had for fighting, and the sacrifices he had to make,
so the freedom of his family, no one could ever take,
he kissed the letter as though it was his wife,
it would have to do him, through all his pain and strife,
he kept the letter with him, right next to his heart,
as if it would protect him, during the battles he knew would start,
though many men were wounded, and some of them had died,
he kept the letter with him, it gave him strength inside,
the letter told him, all he had to know,
that his family missed him, and they loved him so,
so all you married ladies, with a husband in Iraq,
send him a little something everyday, until he finally does come back,
tell him about the children and the little things they do,
tell him how much you love him, you know he misses you,
soon this war will be over, and the killing all will end,
there will be a smile upon your face, when you welcome home,
YOUR BEST FRIEND.

She Loved Like Diamond
She ran the risk from unity
Obsession dies alone with tragedy
She loved like diamond
She loved like diamond
And cut so hard
She died
A passion course that leads to pain
An acid taste that laced her soul again
She loved like diamond
She loved like diamond
And cut so hard
She died
Another path,Ive run them all
The rain has cleared the stains,no trace at all
She loved like diamond
She loved like diamond
And cut so hard
She died

If I Died Today
if i died today
what would you say
if i died today
what would you do
would you cry
because i left you alone
or would you hate me
because we are bound by blood
if i died today
would you kill yourself
because you failed as my gaurdian
if you died today
id weep black tears
and as my soul shattered
id wish to be with you again
in our other world
but if i died today
you would try to bring me bak
even if it killed you
but in the very end you would realize
all i wanted
was for you to live
and to protect my body
so that i may once again return.
