Gutenberg's achievement created a new and wonderful earth, but at the same time also a new hell. During the past 500 years Gutenberg's invention has supplied both earth and hell with new occurrences, new wonders and new phases.

History why do we care
History
a famous person dies
History
a war rages
History
a new invention
History
a building opens
History
what happens if something happens to me
is that history?
no....
So why do we care.....

The Internet makes it possible for people like me to live the way I do now. Without it, I'd have to be in New York or some other city. I think the Internet is the greatest invention in history after antibiotics.

Music is either sacred or secular. The sacred agrees with its dignity, and here has its greatest effect on life, an effect that remains the same through all ages and epochs. Secular music should be cheerful throughout.

In other words, what is supposedly found is an invention whose inventor is unaware of his act of invention, who considers it as something that exists independently of him; the invention then becomes the basis of his world view and actions.

In October, 1865, occurred what was, in my eyes, the greatest event in the history of the observatory. The new transit circle arrived from Berlin in its boxes.

Inventions
'What's the greatest ever invention
the best the world has ever known?
some say it has to be the wheel
while others reckon it's the Telephone '
But a lot of people love their Television
then again we all like to listen to the radio
let's not forget everyday material though
like Nylon, Plastic, and good old Velcro.
Where would we be without transport?
for a start we wouldn't go very far
so how about the Steam Engine
or the Bicycle, Helicopter, or the Motor Car?
In our kitchens we have many appliances
like a freezer where we store food to save
also an Electric or a Gas Cooker
and where would we be without the Microwave?
But there's been hundreds of inventions
from a Paper Clip, Safety Pin, a Telescope,
Computers and the modern wonder of the Internet
down to Toothpaste, and a little bar of Soap.
So I decided to ask my elderly neighbour
while she stood chatting smoking her fag
'Elsie, what's the greatest ever invention? '
she replied: ' Cigarettes, and a Tetley Tea Bag! '

Ongoing Process.
Three quarters of a century.
Recorded in my memory.
Experience that made me, me.
A complete life times history.
Of all I've heard and all I've seen.
Recorded in my memory.
What I have done and where I've been.
A complete life times history.
I can look forward eagerly.
A quarter of a century.
To reaching my centenary.
Recorded automatically.
And stored within my memory.
Accessible only to me.

0368 Post-modern Irony
With all the excitement of a Florentine writer around 1480
who's just heard about the new invention of printing
and has plans to use it bigtime
I'm sitting here at the PC, one of
the first generation of mature writers
who can bring to a lifetime's experience
the web's recall of every great and relevant word
recorded since the beginning of recorded time and thus
pigmies on the shoulders of giants
and what happens
the excitement's gone to my

Going Home
This is a world war I song. world war I fascinates me because it was such a shock to the world. nothing before or since has come close. it was a horrible, horrible event. it was modern weaponry
Avalry and then tanks. they fought for four years over a hundred yards, some ridiculously small amount of ground. its the stupidest event in history.
This is one of those songs that I just cant sing - its right in one of the cracks in my range. so we did it to approximate what a recording of that era would sound like. I know mitchells
G to get blamed in some review for using all these effects, but we did it because I simply cant sing the thing.

Elements of Invention
What do you want to hear and me to say?
I feel your pain?
Okay,
I feel your pain.
And should I beg of you your forgiveness,
As well?
'Yes,
I'm in need of that! Can you tell?
That would be swell.'
Well,
You can go to...
Elements of invention.
There you will get that attention mentioned.
And when there and at your consent,
Animate it with everything for you that's meant...
To keep the event,
At the center of a focused love.
I am not that one you've been dreaming of!
'I'm in need of that! Can you tell? '
Well,
You can go to...
Elements of invention.
There you will get that attention mentioned.
And when there and at your consent,
Animate it with everything for you that's meant...
To keep the event,
At the center of a focused love.
I am not that one you've been dreaming of!
