My Mournful Memorial

As I ambled through a maze of stony monoliths
on a manicured green grassed carpet.
My sadden eyes were overwhelmed with myriad
names and dates of yesteryear's deceased.
Each encounter confronted conveyed to me
a sad reminder of Mans mortality.
All had some story to tell if they could speak.
Most I hope died naturally, others unnaturally.
Their demise, a mise en scène mournfully staged
for the most part many agonized years ago.
Suddenly like a fated mirage my son materialized.
A victim of a vicious war fought on foreign soil.
I knelt before his grimly, graven grave
and placed a flag and flowery wreath..then wept.

The Earth Of Prophets Burns

Before the birth
Of days, months and years,
When the space was empty,
And boundless nothingness prevailed;
Who knows how long
God might have considered
And reconsidered plan of the universe:
Fair earth, suns, stars and moons,
How long He might have thought
For creation of the crown creature,
How He would have been proud
Of the Fairest Being,
Whom for He sent prophets and saints
To instruct and impart
His heavenly wisdom;
But Lo! How the Earth sometimes burns,
And sometimes takes bath with blood:
The most sacred substance
Of the universe,
How explosives are exploded
On the planet, the same planet where
Christ and Muhammad,
(Peace be upon the both)
Ambled with the Holy Books
Transmitting the celestial message
Of peace, love and harmony.

Ambrose Bierce

Constancy

Dull were the days and sober,
The mountains were brown and bare,
For the season was sad October
And a dirge was in the air.

The mated starlings flew over
To the isles of the southern sea.
She wept for her warrior lover
Wept and exclaimed: 'Ah, me!

'Long years have I mourned my darling
In his battle-bed at rest;
And it's O, to be a starling,
With a mate to share my nest!'

The angels pitied her sorrow,
Restoring her warrior's life;
And he came to her arms on the morrow
To claim her and take her to wife.

An aged lover-a portly,
Bald lover, a trifle too stiff,
With manners that would have been courtly,
And would have been graceful, if

If the angels had only restored him
Without the additional years
That had passed since the enemy bored him
To death with their long, sharp spears.

As it was, he bored her, and she rambled
Away with her father's young groom,
And the old lover smiled as he ambled
Contentedly back to the tomb.

The Tropics

LOVE we the warmth and light of tropic lands,
The strange bright fruit, the feathery fanspread leaves,
The glowing mornings and the mellow eves,
The strange shells scattered on the golden sands,
The curious handiwork of Eastern hands,
The little carts ambled by humpbacked beeves,
The narrow outrigged native boat which cleaves,
Unscathed, the surf outside the coral strands.
Love we the blaze of color, the rich red
Of broad tiled-roof and turban, the bright green
Of plantain-frond and paddy-field, nor dread
The fierceness of the noon. The sky serene,
The chill-less air, quaint sights, and tropic trees,
Seem like a dream fulfilled of lotus-ease.

A Thing Of Beauty

Staring at nothing
In a dreamy distrait
When she started humming
Her mesmerizing lilt
How many hearts went distraught?

Her eyes like deep ocean blues
Treasure how many lovely clues
Wooing many a craving beau

When she laughed in rejoice
As if stars are showering from skies
Soaked are the relishing Romeos
In an inexplicable rapturous glow

Flaunted is the avenue she ambled
With beauty-battered machismos
Holding their bleeding hearts
Falling one after another at her feet
On their enfeebled knees
Yielding to her stealing allure

God must have strained for eons
To shape this beautiful woman
Few minutes with her I spent
Years after, I still sense her scent
Like an enshrouding bouquet
Whenever I felt my times difficult
She usurped into my thoughts
Like a swirling rivulet
Washing away every hurting gloomy dirt

A Plea

Writers of baseball, attention!
When you're again on the job-
When, in your rage for invention,
You with the language play hob-
Most of your dope we will pardon,
Though of the moth ball it smack;
But-cut out the 'sinister garden,'
Chop the 'initial sack.'

Rake poor old Roget's 'Thesaurus'
For phrases fantastic and queer;
And though on occasions you bore us,
We will refrain from a sneer.
We will endeavour to harden
Ourselves to the rest of your clack,
If you'll cut out the 'sinister garden'
And chop the 'initial sack.'

Singers of words that are scrambled,
Say, if you will, that he 'died,'
Write, if you must, that he 'ambled'-
We shall be last to deride.
But us to the Forest of Arden,
Along with the misanthrope Jaques,
If you cling to the 'sinister garden'
And stick to 'initial sack.'

Speak of the 'sphere's aberration,'
Mention the 'leathery globe,'
Say he got 'free transportation'-
Though that try the patience of Job.
But if you're wise you'll discard en-
Cumbrances such as we thwack-
Especially 'sinister garden'
And the 'initial sack.

I thought I saw an angel......

Her hair was long, it blew in the breeze.
a warm summer sun sat in the trees.
while birds high above sang as sweet as could be
for the girl with long blonde hair was free.

She sauntered through the glades,
she lingered by the water's edge.
and fed the swans some crumbs and then
continued along her way.

Her slender legs were tanned and toned,
she seemed so peaceful all alone,
as a wisp of her hair blew by her eyes
as it glistened like gold beneath the skies.

Many a young man glanced her way
hoping for a smile, but the girl
never stopped to return their gaze,
she just gently walked on by.

And as morning drifted into noon
and the heat of the sun made a haze,
I thought I saw an angel there
as she ambled along that day.

In her heart was a gift from the heavens
letting her spirit fly free
and the charm that she wore about her,
kept her safely from you and from me.

Then as she passed the strangers there
in that magical haunting way
there was a misty shadow cast
and the girl just drifted away.

Nobody knew where she came from,
and nobody knew where she went,
but the trees seem to whisper a melody
and the weeping willow wept.

Assassination?

Assassination?

The country lane I walked on twisted and turned I didn’t
know what next to see after a new bend, I like it so a straight
road, one I see till it disappears into blue yonder, is scary
fear I will not reach its end. People came walking up behind
me, I stood aside and took my cap off; it was the lady, I had
seen jogging on this road, strolling along with a tall, dark man,
in his shadow she looked timid and insignificant, with a smile
glued firmly on her red lips, this gave a hint of deep sadness,
that of one who had lost the highest office in modern time.
A step or so behind them, ambled another man, with a fun sign
on his back that read: ” We have suffered now it is our turn to
dish it out, kick me if you dare.” I heard the cough of a colt
forty-five, and the tall shadow fell to the ground, the fixed
smile stood motionless in the baffling glare of the midday sun,
the man, with amusing sign, had run into the bushes; smoke
spiralled from his hand, a cigar? Sky darkened, thousands of
war planes loaded with smart, cluster, bunker busting, stupid
and sweet, looking bombs for any surviving children of
the catastrophe that was about to befall their country.

Same Thing Over

You say you're going to turn a leaf.
But it's the same thing over.
You say you're going to release your grief.
But it's the same thing over.

You say no more to jumping through hoops.
You say you're going to do what you choose.
You say you're going to be free and loose...
But it's the same thing over.

You say you're picking up more speed.
But it's the same thing.
You say new rhythms you now beat.
But it's the same thing.
You say more of life you will see...
But it's the same thing over.

You say more of life you will see.
But it's the same thing!
It's the same thing.
Same thing you will bring into your life,
Until it's over.

The Burial Of Tragedy

Recollection of childhood,
Takes me behind to the past,
The memories,
Sometimes make me sad,
And sometimes quite glad.

Now I recall a man, middle aged,
Mysteriously mad,
I knew not his origin, he ambled
Through the nearby town,
With disheveled hair,
Dressed in tattered brown,
He had unwashed body
With lean sable legs, and feet
Always with sole-broken boots.
Though his face was harrowed,
Yet emitted prints of learning.
He didn't accept coins
Or notes of charity, nor did he beg
As if these diminished his dignity.
He only lived on the pieces
Of fallen fruit, and often tumbled
On them with a grin,
And a smile devoid of pleasure;
He slept at night in an ancient,
Deserted inn beside the highway,
Made in the reign of Sher Shah Suri.

The man roved around the town,
With an old leather-bag,
Always pressing against his heart,
He never allowed anyone to touch,
As if he concealed some gems of treasure.
Ah! At one wintry night at last,
The cold caught him, the folk found
Him dead lying supine in the morn,
But still pressing the contents
To his heart; with ever growing curiosity
They unfastened the straps,
And brought out nothing
But his degree of graduation,
All crippled, and faded;
The forsaken graduate lay dead,
As if there lay an incarnated tragedy
Waiting for its funeral, and all mourners
Threw coins and notes of currency
For shroud and perfumes:
The necessary items of a decent burial.

Same Mistake Twice

Its one thing to make the
Same mistake twice
Another thing to make it
All of your life
Its one thing to make the
Same mistake twice
Another thing to make it
All of your life
The more you strengthen your denial
The more you turn to your desire
Na na na na
Appetite fight youll beat it yet
Na na na na
By hook or by crook on that I would bet
Just hang on in there
Its one thing to make the
Same mistake twice
Another thing to make it
All of your life
Lost in a barrel of wine and whining
Snared in a trap of your own designing
Dont be so sure
Nobody knows when it will end
Dont be so sure
Wouldnt I speak up if Im a true friend
Just hang on in there
Its one thing to make the
Same mistake twice
Another thing to make it
All of your
Life, your life
Another detail just goes by
Fallen into the abyss that has become your life
Its one thing to make the
Same mistake twice
Another thing to make it
All of your life
All of your life

Curious Thing

There was this guy, he was down on his luck
He was truly povertys child
Well, he had no home and he had no car
And he wore a weary smile
Moved out to l.a., knocked around for awhile
But he was getting nowhere
Then he did this movie and it did really well
Now hes a millionaire
See, life is a curious thing
Life, ooh life is a curious thing
I know a man who could paint the town red
Had a college degree in fun
till the doorbell rang and a long lost flame said
This little boy is your son
Gave him a suitcase and a bear
Left em in a cloud of dust
Now hes checking out schools and driving carpools
Learning to adjust
He says life is a curious thing
Life, ooh life is a curious thing
Well, I know that it can be demanding
I know that it can be unkind
I dont really understand it
But lord sure knows I try
Life is a curious thing
Life, ooh life is a curious thing
Let me tell you bout a kid I knew
A pudgy girl back in school
She had greasy hair and geeky glasses
Object of ridicule
The other day in the check out line
They were ringing up my rice and beans
There she was, a pretty little face
On the cover of a magazine
And I said life is a curious thing
Life, ooh life is a curious thing
(chorus)
Just goes to show that you never know
Just what tomorrow may bring
But Ill tell you this that what it is
Is seldom what it seems
cause life is a curious thing
Life, ooh life is a curious thing. . .

Come Eat with Me

When you eat, think about a happy thing
Think about a happy moment you’ve been
Don’t think the sad thing
If you don’t want to drink your tears

When you eat, think about a happy thing
Though nobody there accompanies you
Don’t think the bad thing
If you don’t want to choke your feeling

When you eat, think about a happy thing
Taste the delicious food in front of you
Don’t think the hard thing
If you don’t want to weight your heart

When you eat, think about a happy thing
Tell it’s for the power to move another day
Don’t think the apart thing
If you don’t want to waste your life

Sonnet: Love Rules the World

Love is the thing by which God made our earth;
Love is the thing that saves us from dangers;
Love is the thing by which God gave man, breath;
Love is the thing that binds neighbors, strangers.

Love is the thing that creatures on earth seek;
Love is the thing we expect in friendship;
Love is the thing that rules man's heart, mind meek;
Love is the thing that thrills hearts in courtship.

Love is the thing that binds a family;
Love is the thing a teacher gives pupils;
Love is the thing we ought to give fully;
Love is the thing that every man's heart fills.

Love is the thing that gives meaning to life;
Love is the thing that binds man, God in strife.

Pull Out The Pin

Just as we hit the green,
Ive never been so happy to be alive.
Only seven miles behind
You could smell the child,
The smell of the front lines survival.
With my silver buddha
And my silver bullet,
(I pull the pin.)
You learn to ride the earth,
When youre living on your belly and the enemy are city-births.
Who need radar? we use scent.
They stink of the west, stink of sweat.
Stink of cologne and baccy, and all their yankee hash.
With my silver buddha
And my silver bullet,
(Im pulling on the pin,)
Ooh, I pull out, pull out the pin.
(pulling on the pin, oh...)
Just one thing in it:
Me or him.
Just one thing in it:
Me or him.
And I love life!
Just one thing in it:
Me or him.
And I love life!
I love life!
I love life!
Ive seen the coat for me.
Ill track him til he drops,
Then Ill pop him one he wont see.
Hes big and pink, and not like me.
He sees no light.
He sees no reason for the fighting
With my silver buddha
And my silver bullet.
(Im pulling on the pin,)
Ooh, I pull out, pull out the pin.
(pulling on the pin, oh...)
I had not seen his face,
til Im only feet away
Unbeknown to my prey.
I look in american eyes.
I see little life,
See little wife.
Hes striking violence up in me.
With my silver buddha
And my silver bullet.
Just one thing in it:
Me or him.
Just one thing in it:
Me or him.
And I love life!
Just one thing in it:
Me or him.
And I love life!
I love life!
I love life!
Just one thing in it:
Me or him.
And I love life!
Just one thing in it:
Me or him.
And I love life!

Life (2nd attempt in writing a song)

What is life?
Life is sometimes great
Sometimes nothing
Most of the time it moves in circle
Though many a time it goes straight

Life is very easy
When you relinquish your dreams
It is very hard
When you want a thing to achieve

What is life?
Life is sometimes great
Sometimes it is nothing
Name fame in life is a game
of pray and hard work
Some one may get some thing
By virtue of a good luck
But things will never come again and again
As life is never a fluke

If you want to achieve some thing concrete
You have to rub your butt against a thorn or prick.

What is life?
Life is very deadly joyful
When you succeeds in love
Life is a lake of tasteless tears
When you have a success in failures.

The Old Miser and his 3rd Wife

1
The Old Miser
my husband is dying
and he makes me promise
I must put all his money in his coffin
when he dies

“O my legal third wife
the only one surviving -
you must put all my money
secretly in my coffin”

Sure thing, sure thing
you Old Miser!
You made me suffer all my life
and now in your death
you want to bring away all the money
Sure thing, sure thing
you Old Miser!

2
Now, he’s dead
and I’ve arranged for his funeral
and while everyone’s busy
with all these preparations
I dutifully take all his money
from the hiding place
which he whispered to me
with his last breath
and he bit my ear and he snarled:
“Put all my money
in my coffin”

Sure thing, sure thing
you Old Miser!
You made me suffer all my life
and now in your death
you want to bring all the money away
Sure thing, sure thing
you Old Miser!

3
So I take all his money
and bring it to the bank
and deposit it in my name
and make a cheque out for 10 million
and put the cheque below his head

Sure thing, sure thing
you Old Miser!
You made me suffer all my life
and now in your death
you can take all the money away
Sure thing, sure thing
you Old Miser!

Realization

You heard me screaming-
I could not hear
Your silent tears, and
You read my despair and
Hopelessness in the
Avid darkness
As you glanced, though
Cryptically into
My ebony eyes –
A soul wracked with pain, and
A heart sinking with
Concern and the
Love I could never see until
A few days before you passed-
It was only when you were dying that
I became aware of your profound love for me-
Trees stark against a lead hued sky, and
A mixture of sleet, snow and rain
Would fall from the dark and ominous clouds.
Fog descended over the
Buildings that surrounded ours- while
Cars skated down and up the
Highway outside-
People ambled aimlessly
Along the damp and filthy city sidewalks,
While days just passed slowly and quickly
Simultaneously-
As in a slow motion picture
You would exit the bathroom,
Towels hung in disarray on the towel bars and
Sheets on the bed lay rumpled,
Where none but a shadow of where you had slept remained-
Though only a few hours,
Interrupted by the pain, anguish and desolation
That was so obviously eminent behind
Your pallid face, from which
All expression and life had been erased –
Today I am still screaming though the sounds have been muted by
My efforts to conceal the
War that still wages inside my befuddled mind-
I once believed that you were my enemy and my
Reluctant caretaker until I read the letter
Inscribed on that scrap torn from that yellow legal pad-
Your pen spoke honestly and frankly of
Your love and devotion to me,
That I did not see- until that final moment when
The snow began to fall hard and the wind
Would rattle the storm windows,
That had never been cleaned-
Looking outside those windows now
I can still see the cars racing up and down the street,
People walking in a stupor
Perhaps wishing the winter would end-
And this is a winter that I would never forget-
Only because I finally realized that
You were the only mother I ever had and that
I was your one and only child-
You gave birth to me and
Gave me a beautiful name-
At this very moment
I love you as much as I have finally realized that
I was none but precious to you- although
Our lives together had been a nightmare.
Sleet, snow and freezing rain
Are rudely hitting the windowpanes and
I remember that day I lost my sanity,
It was also on a cold January day-
Hope was blinded by a snowstorm and
Tears were falling like sleet would
Hard upon the pavement-
I look up into the steel-hued sky and
Whisper none but a prayer and
Three words “I love you, ” and to myself,
“Can you hear me? ” and
I know the answer inside my breaking heart, as I
Walk away while
Darkness descends over the city on this bleak and dreary winter’s night…

Feels Like Today

Woke up this morning
With this feeling inside me that I can't explain
Like a weight that I've carried
Has been carried away, away
But I know something is coming
I don't know what it is
But I know it's amazing, you save me
My time is coming
And I'll find my way out of this longest drought
It feels like today I know it feels like today I'm sure
Its the one thing that's missin'
The one thing I'm wishin'
Life's sacred blessin'
It feels like today
Feels like today
You treat life like a picture
But its not a moment thats frozen in time
It's not gonna wait
Til you make up your mind, at all
So while this storm is breaking
While there's light at the end of the tunnel
Keep running towards it
Releasing the pressure, that's my heartache
Soon this dam will break
And it feels like today
I know, it feels like today, I'm sure
Its the one thing that's missin'
The one thing you're wishin'
Life's sacred blessin'
It feels like today
Feels like today
And it feels like today
I know, it feels like today, I'm sure
Its the one thing that's missin'
The one thing you're wishin'
Life's sacred blessin'
It feels like today
Feels like, feels like your life changes
Feels like feels like your life changes
Its the one thing that's missin'
The one thing you're wishin'
Life's sacred blessin'
Feels like today
Feels like Feels like your life changes
Feels like Feels like your life changes
