Velvet Elvis

My life, it used to be incomplete
till I saw what I was looking for at a drive-in swap meet
My life it wont be the same again
Now Im proud to say the king lives on inside my den
Oh, its all I live for, its all I need
My velvet elvis
My velvet elvis
My velvet elvis means the world to me
Although he may not be worth much dough
He means much more to me than some old rembrandt or van gogh
Check out those sideburns, theres nothing greater
You can tell that hes no velvet elvis imitator
Oh, its all I live for, its all I need
My velvet elvis
My velvet elvis
My velvet elvis
Oh, now you cant you see
My velvet elvis
My velvet elvis
My velvet elvis means the world to me
In my own private graceland
In my own little shrine to the king
I dont want nothin else
No, I dont need anything
Dont need no lava lamp
Dont need no soap on a rope
No pictures of mexican kids with those really big eyes
Or dogs playing poker
When Im at home watching my tv
I know the king is always looking down on me
He looks so handsome, he stands so tall
So glad hes big enough to cover up that hole in the wall
(velvet elvis) hes so fuzzy
(velvet elvis) hes so great
(velvet elvis) never ages
(velvet elvis) never puts on weight
(velvet elvis) look at those rhinestones
(velvet elvis) hes just so fine
(velvet elvis) you can look but dont touch now
(velvet elvis) cause hes mine all mine

Sexual Starvation And Imagination In The Middle Of A Calamity...

as she saw it
on that clear day she
remembered

how the tornado came
and sucked a house and a cow
smoothly to its
throat,

the house was gone
it did not spit the whole cow
and the tornado left

the grasses on the yard
were thick
and lush

she was so amazed with what she
saw
there was no fear in her eyes
it was pure excitement

she felt ecstasy
her groins excreted sweat

Together Again

As I approach
the spiritual
rehlm
my honey is
waiting for
my arrival.

Hand in hand
we will stroll
through the
garden of
flowers.

Smell their
essence
touch the soft
petals.

In the lush
meadows
we search for
a bed to rest.

Lie down
together
in the velvet
grasses
enjoy each other
renewing our
love vows.

Lush Life

[Chorus]
Lush life
Takes away the time
Lush life
Takes away the time
Take one step at a time
Boy I'm still in my prime
I want the lush life

A little base is what I want
Need a finer place to do my thang
I want no boys holding me back
Coz once I get there

The May Flower Tree

I was walking lone there,
Where we once had been.
I sought the house we lived in,
In the lush lush green.
Perhaps inmates out, I thought,
As none I could see.
She has been haunting ever,
Where's May Flower Tree?
Looked around and discovered,
Ah! she lost her grace!
Hugged her with my eager hands,
Alone at that place.
Touched her old bark earnestly,
Felt the touch of past.
Childhood cried in deep deep pain,
Days crept in we passed.
Suddenly the tree turned green,
The Sun shone brightly.
I saw the May Flower Tree,
An emblem of Infancy!

Velvet

(paul waaktaar / lauren savoy)
Her skin is like velvet
Her face cut from stone
Her eyes when shes smiling
Will never reach home
But hear how she sings
Her touch would be tender
Her lips would be warm
But when were together
Im always alone
But hear how she sings
But hear how she sings
Hear how she sings
Her skin is like velvet
So I went to her home
Her place like a palace
With things you cant own
Her skin is like velvet
And hear how she sings
Hear how she sings...

PDA

yours is the only version of my desertion that I could ever subscribe to
that is all that I can do
you are a past dinner the last winner I'm raking all around me
until the last drop is behind you
you're so cute when you're frustrated, dear
you're so cute when you're sedated, dear
i'm resting
sleep tight, grim right, we have two hundred couches
where you can sleep tight, grim right, we have two hundred couches
where you can sleep tight, grim right, we have two hundred couches
where you can sleep tonight, sleep tonight, sleep tonight, sleep tonight
you are the only person who's completely certain there's nothing here to be into
that is all that you can do
you are a past sinner, the last winner and everything we've come to
makes you you
and you cannot safely say while I will be away
that you will not consider sadly how you hurt me this free
you will not reach me I am resenting a position that is past resentment now I can consider now there is this distance so
sleep tight, grim right, we have two hundred couches
where you can sleep tight, grim right, we have two hundred couches
where you can sleep tight, grim right, we have two hundred couches
where you can sleep tonight, sleep tonight, sleep tonight, sleep tonight
something to say
something to do
nothing to say
when there's nothing to do

Walking Through the Upper East Side

All over the district, on leather couches
& brocade couches, on daybeds
& 'professional divans,' they are confessing.
The air is thick with it,
the ears of analysts must be sticky.

Words fill the air above couches & hover there
hanging like smog. I imagine
impossible Steinberg scrolls,
unutterable sounds suspended in inked curlicues
while the Braque print & the innocuous Utrillo
look on look on look on.

My six analysts for example-

the sly Czech who tucked his shoelaces
under the tongues of his shoes,
the mistress of social work with orange hair,
the famous old german who said:
'You sink, zerefore you are,'
the bouncy American who loved to talk dirty,
the bitchy widow of a famous theoretician,
& another-or was it two?-I have forgotten-
they rise like a Greek chorus in my dreams.
They reproach me for my messy life.
They do not offer to refund my money.

& the others-siblings for an hour or so-
ghosts whom I brushed in & out of the door.
Sometimes the couch was warm from their bodies.
Only our coats knew each other,
rubbing shoulders in the dark closet.

Velvet Dark

I heard a song last night
Alone in my car, in the velvet dark
It epitomised my feelings, my reelings
And I began to understand

'I never lost you, you were never mine'
Those words rang true, stung my heart
Driving at one mile per hour
In the velvet dark

I smiled as the lonely tear fell
A wry, upside-down frown
And the music began to painfully soothe
In the velvet dark

You were never, ever mine
To touch, to feel, just a ghost
Of a promise, whom I would never see
In the velvet dark

Lucky those roads were quiet
No crazed drivers forcing me on
And I pulled into a hidden corner
In the velvet dark

Your heart wasn't mine
To try to hold and to repair
You needed me and I needed you
In the velvet dark

We tried to make it
Through impossible barriers
Of dreams and hopes, spinning uncontrollably
In the velvet dark

Picking up my emotions
I pulled back onto that road
Moving towards my home, my sanity
In the velvet dark

I never lost you, I'll never lose you
I'll just remember, the good times
There were a few heady nights together
In the velvet dark

So, this song I will remember
For bringing home to me
The truth, the bitter-sweet memories
Forever in the velvet dark

For The Cruel Woman

WE SIMPLY have to be honest,
do we have any choice? what do you have there?
a thick section of your
humiliation,

she keeps on putting you down
and she laughs
openly like you were the performer
with all the rotten tomatoes
as her score

what do i have here inside my pocket?

i have my fingers that keep a record
of her wrongs
and i am still writing

she is sick and dying and we wear sad faces
we are dishonest
she is saying the last words
in slow motion

and stretching her breaths
like a staccato of a song

we are the silent background
the floor of her bed
the drapes of her window
the slippers of her stinking feet

and finally

she is dead and we cry and then we wail loud enough
to be heard by the neighbors
and the servants of the house are convinced

we go through the rites of her passage
we are her heirs and our names shall not be forgotten by her
in the other world
where she watches us from the skies
with all surprise and regret

we are dancing on the grass
we are feasting in our house.

Fall Into Velvet

I was born as me alone
Isolation far from home
I was nurtured in the light
Mothers milk pure and white
I was told of a secret
To close my eyes
Fall into velvet
What I fear
This childhood dream
Must be real
I can feel it
Now I understand
This comfort of man
Take my hand
Fall into velvet
(cindy)
You can touch where youve never been touched
See further than youve ever seen
Fall into velvet
I was touched by those who know
Of this power to fly alone
As the path will twist and wind
Leave for others, as we find
So the future may collect
Close their eyes
Fall into velvet
What I fear
This childhood dream
Must be real
I can feel it
Now I understand
This comfort of man
Take my hand
Fall into velvet
Fall into velvet
(cindy)
Fall into the spirale circle
Life supplies the minds survival
(repeat 2x)

Sestina - Cycling

November bomb-fires refuse to take light
Like sultry splutters of a lazy passion.
And drowsy hedgehogs under dead, damp wood
Dream snail’s trail filaments of kiss and touch.
Autumnal sodden leaves, leave underfoot,
A worn, discarded carpet once so lush.

Cold winter heart of mornings, sunlight lush,
Spangle frosts on bare branches and delight
In shining grass blades crunching underfoot.
Invade my sleepy heart, excite my passion.
I yearn for kisses, search for trembling touch.
Tentatively snap dead-wood’s bitter wood.

Rising greenly, sap springs through new wood,
Feeding fresh leaf, nourishing bud till lush
Summer arrives. Await the radiant touch!
Anticipate! The sun’s young rays spread light,
Tempting seeds of lust to swell in passion,
Crushing memories which echo underfoot.

Wise warnings thud above whilst underfoot
The thundering tramplings of the wild, wild wood
Call out. “Unleash your thwarted passion.
Drink in the nectar of life’s root, the lush
Intoxicating spirit that sets light
Your body with the need for urgent touch.

Laden boughs bend overhead to touch
A verdant rug of green laid underfoot.
Sky brightness winks and blinks. The broken light
Peeps through. Charcoal dark, my cleft heart of wood
Remnant of fire, lies guarded in the lush
Cutting blades of grass that hide my passion.

Leaves scuttle, dry husks rush round with passion
Press-ganged by the wind. Gems dyed by the touch
Of death in glowing hues. Fruit full and lush
With wasps, reaping juice fallen underfoot.
For good, my soul is yearly marked like wood
Rings revealing all, sealed away from light.

Envoi

Can passion trampled underfoot spring up
Again? Can touch revive the flame in wood
Snuffed by lush, lush rain? Can kisses make light?

In His House Of Standard Things

to make perhaps an impression of what is beautiful
he lets me in his house
he gives me some drinks and he begins to tell me
what indeed is beautiful

he chooses his colors
mostly green with whites embedded like pearls
on blue green seaweeds under a deep blue sea

he chooses the shapes that fit
mostly spherical and embossed
he likes static things like sculptures of the
busts of great men that he adores

light is not as bright as he wants it to be
more of dusks and twilights
for he does need not so much light to make his life visible
he likes the touch of silk and threads
he adores the gentleness of the wind
exquisitely plucked from a dawning breeze

and then after i have seen them all
he asks me to leave
it is a matter of simply having me in
for a showroom
a lecture on what is beautiful

how i wish to be back in that house again
green and white and shades of these two colors
but it is over
and the house has since been flown to the sky
and its doors and windows closed
and the door bell
had since been concealed with a thick wall
and the gate is locked with steel bars

well, for wherever he is
and whether his house was real or not
let me say, (and that i really forgot)
thank you sir

tomorrow, i will build a house of my own
but it will not be green and white
i will choose the pastel orange side of things like the sunset of my life
and some reds and pinks for the love of my life

Touch Too Much

It was one of those nights
When you turned out the lights
And everything comes into view
She was taking her time
I was losing my mind
There was nothing that she wouldnt do
It wasnt the first
It wasnt the last
She knew we was making love
I was so satisfied
Deep down inside
Like a hand in a velvet glove
Chorus:
Seems like a touch, a touch too much
Seems like a touch, a touch too much
Too much for my body, too much for my brain
This kind of womans gonna drive me insane
Shes got a touch, a touch too much
She had the face of an angel
Smiling with sin
A body of venus with arms
Dealing with danger
Stroking my skin
Let the thunder and lightening start
It wasnt the first
It wasnt the last
It wasnt that she didnt care
She wanted it hard
And wanted it fast
She liked it done medium rare
Chorus
Seems like a touch, touch too much
You know its much too much, much too much
I really want to feel your touch too much
Girl you know youre getting me much too much
Seems like a touch
Just a dirty little touch
I really need your touch
Cause youre much too much too much
Chorus

House of fire (Lyrics)

House of fire
House of fire, yeah
Let's build a house of fire, baby
Not one of wood or stone
Walk thru my door of desire, baby
Come on in and make it your home
Don't need a window to watch you, baby
Don't need no roof overhead
Don't need no key to unlock ya, baby
I'll use my lovin'instead
I won't tire
Take me higher
Building a house of fire, baby
Buildin'it with our love
We are buildin'a house of fire every time we touch
House of fire
House of fire
We ain't gotta pay rent now, baby
No landlord to throw us out
I want to play in your garden, baby
When you want it give me a shout
I won't tire
Take me higher
Building a house of fire, baby
Buildin'it with our love
We are building a house of fire every time we touch
We are building this house together, baby
Standing on solid ground
We are building a house of fire
That you can't tear down
Brick by brick the flames get higher
Build it strong with our desire
Building a house of fire, baby
Building it with our love
We are building a house of fire every time we touch
We are building this house together, baby
Standing on solid ground
We are building a house of fire
That you can't tear down
Building a house of fire, baby
Building it with our love
We are building a house of fire every time we touch
