My Rival

The wind was driving in my face
The smell of prickly pear
[my rival - show me my rival]
The milk truck eased into my space
Somebody screamed somewhere
I struck a match against the door
Of anthonys bar and grill
I was the whining stranger
A fool in love
With time to kill
Ive got detectives on his case
They filmed the whole charade
[my rival - show me my rival]
Hes got a scar across his face
He wears a hearing aid
Sure hes a jolly roger
Until he answers for his crime
Yes Ill match him whim for whim now
I still recall when I first held
Your tiny hand in mine
[my rival - show me my rival]
I loved you more than I can tell
But now its stomping time
Sure hes a jolly roger
Until he answers for his crime
Yes Ill match him whim for whim now

Rivals to all

Dear foe, I am your rival for your fall.
Dear peer, I am your rival to be tall.
Dear brother, I am your rival for parents’ care.
Dear father, I am your rival for my mother’s love.
Dear wife, I am your rival for our kids’ love.
Dear son, I am your rival for my wife’s love.
Each one has some antipathy for all
For sometime, for some moments, at least.

New Words

New words in rival
And sweet language of
Lightening riven
In water
The spread rite
To initiate again
Coming of new words
In rival and
Space not unfold
Still you see
Flower-face.

A Stave Of Roving Tim

(ADDRESSED TO CERTAIN FRIENDLY TRAMPS.)

I

The wind is East, the wind is West,
Blows in and out of haven;
The wind that blows is the wind that's best,
And croak, my jolly raven!
If here awhile we jigged and laughed,
The like we will do yonder;
For he's the man who masters a craft,
And light as a lord can wander.
So, foot the measure, Roving Tim,
And croak, my jolly raven!
The wind according to its whim
Is in and out of haven.

II

You live in rows of snug abodes,
With gold, maybe, for counting;
And mine's the beck of the rainy roads
Against the sun a-mounting.
I take the day as it behaves,
Nor shiver when 'tis airy;
But comes a breeze, all you are on waves,
Sick chickens o' Mother Carey!
So, now for next, cries Roving Tim,
And croak, my jolly raven!
The wind according to its whim
Is in and out of haven.

III

Sweet lass, you screw a lovely leer,
To make a man consider.
If you were up with the auctioneer,
I'd be a handsome bidder.
But wedlock clips the rover's wing;
She tricks him fly to spider;
And when we get to fights in the Ring,
It's trumps when you play outsider.
So, wrench and split, cries Roving Tim,
And croak, my jolly raven!
The wind according to its whim
Is in and out of haven.

IV

Along my winding way I know
A shady dell that's winking;
The very corner for Self and Co
To do a world of thinking.
And shall I this? and shall I that?
Till Nature answers, ne'ther!
Strike match and light your pipe in your hat,
Rejoicing in sound shoe-leather!
So lead along, cries Roving Tim,
And croak, my jolly raven!
The wind according to its whim
Is in and out of haven.

V

A cunning hand 'll hand you bread,
With freedom for your capers.
I'm not so sure of a cunning head;
It steers to pits or vapours.
But as for Life, we'll bear in sight
The lesson Nature teaches;
Regard it in a sailoring light,
And treat it like thirsty leeches.
So, fly your jib, cries Roving Tim,
And top your boom, old raven!
The wind according to its whim
Is in and out of haven.

VI

She'll take, to please her dame and dad,
The shopman nicely shaven.
She'll learn to think o' the marching lad
When perchers show they're craven.
You say the shopman piles a heap,
While I perhaps am fasting;
And bless your wits, it haunts him in sleep,
His tin-kettle chance of lasting!
So hail the road, cries Roving Tim,
And hail the rain, old raven!
The wind according to its whim
Is in and out of haven.

VII

He's half a wife, yon pecker bill;
A book and likewise preacher.
With any soul, in a game of skill,
He'll prove your over-reacher.
The reason is, his brains are bent
On doing things right single.
You'd wish for them when pitching your tent
At night in a whirly dingle!
So, off we go, cries Roving Tim,
And on we go, old raven!
The wind according to its whim
Is in and out of haven.

VIII

Lord, no, man's lot is not for bliss;
To call it woe is blindness:
It'll here a kick, and it's there a kiss,
And here and there a kindness.
He starts a hare and calls her joy;
He runs her down to sorrow:
The dogs within him bother the boy,
But 'tis a new day to-morrow.
So, I at helm, cries Roving Tim,
And you at bow, old raven!
The wind according to its whim
Is in and out of haven.

No one is realistic

No man agrees that his rival
Is fitter than he to his beloved.
No woman agrees that her rival
Is cuter than she to her lover.

The Eye Of The Tiger

Risin up, back on the street
Did my time, took my chances
Went the distance, now Im back on my feet
Just a man and his will to survive
So many times, it happens too fast
You change your passion for glory
Dont lose your grip on the dreams of the past
You must fight just to keep them alive
Its the eye of the tiger, its the cream of the fight
Risin up to the challenge of our rival
And the last known survivor stalks his prey in the night
And hes watchin us all in the eye of the tiger
Face to face, out in the heat
Hangin tough, stayin hungry
They stack the odds til we take to the street
For we kill with the skill to survive
Its the eye of the tiger, its the cream of the fight
Risin up to the challenge of our rival
And the last known survivor stalks his prey in the night
And hes watchin us all in the eye of the tiger
Risin up, straight to the top
Have the guts, got the glory
Went the distance, now Im not gonna stop
Just a man and his will to survive
Its the eye of the tiger, its the cream of the fight
Risin up to the challenge of our rival
And the last known survivor stalks his prey in the night
And hes watchin us all in the eye of the tiger
The eye of the tiger (repeats out)...

Life In The Balance

Is death an arch rival we are supposed to fear?
An arch rival of what life? Life has its time?
Time enough to grow learn even accomplish.

In proportion to time and talent life lessons.
Effort focus belief honest toil are watered seed
love care produces a fine crop reaped in time.

At appointed time we enter this life in birth.
Free will conscience weighed life choices sow
opportunities to hope to despair in balance.

We appoint values priorities affix heart’s desire.
Yet not all that glitters is gold or good karma to
dominate take because we can has consequences.

Nerve wracking

lightning fast as it is
could not rival nerves
that let me see its wonder
in equally nerve wracking speed

the horse fast it may run
could not rival thought
that had put the car on the road
and plane in the sky

the stars in the sky that travels
to us in a million years
are there to prove
man could do the same
- a million times faster

the greatest wonder of the world
is not the stars, moons, sun
but the heads over our shoulders

from there the stars, moons, suns
and the human race soar

809 Peridot Birthstone Of August

The Peridot (pronounced PEAR - A - DOE) is a very beautiful but lesser known gemstone. It was first discovered on Topazo Island in the Red Sea by the Egyptians who called it 'The Gem of the Sun'. Peridos are unique gemstones because they are always green. They are a form of Chrysolite - magnesium aluminium silicate - with an iron impurity which is responsible for its green colour. The depth of green is proportioanal to the percentage of iron.

Peridot so orthorhombic
Lime green - olive green - and sea green
Even greens you've never seen
Yes - over forty shades of green.
Colours of all life and nature
Themes politic - themes scholastic
Peridot gems for all we know
Orthorhombic so Peridot.

Peridots can rival emeralds
In their lustre and their value
Mined in enigmatic China
Blissful Burma - U S A.
Offers wearer full protection
With it fame and dignity
It also brings prosperity
Emeralds rival can Peridots.

Peridot birthstone for August
Linked with Leo - powerful sign
Bringing health to lungs and liver
A peridot will bless the giver.
Peridot gemstone of Egypt
Worn to ward off evil spirits
By Romans to dispel a foe
August for birthstone Peridot

Peridot so green so perfect
Peridot so orthorhombic
Peridots can rival emeralds
Peridot birthstone for August
August for birthstone Peridot.
Emeralds rival can Peridots
Orthorhombic so Peridot
Perfect so green so Peridot.

Dedicated to the Angel of August.

Rocky Racoon

Now somewhere in the black mountain hills of dakota
There lived a young boy named rocky raccoon
And one day his woman ran off with another guy
Hit young rocky in the eye, rocky didnt like that
He said Im gonna get that boy
So one day he walked into town
Booked himself a room in the local saloon
Rocky raccoon checked into his room
Only to find gideons bible
Rocky had come equipped with a gun
To shoot off the legs of his rival
His rival it seems had broken his dreams
By stealing the girl of his fancy
Her name was magil and she called herself lil
But everyone knew her as nancy
Now she and her man who called himself dan
Were in the next room at the hoe down
Rocky burst in and grinning a grin
He said danny boy this is a showdown
But daniel was hot - he drew first and shot
And rocky collapsed in the corner
Now the doctor came in stinking of gin
And proceeded to lie on the table
He said rocky you met your match
And rocky said, doc its only a scratch
And Ill be better, Ill be better doc as soon as I am able
Now rocky raccoon he fell back in his room
Only to find gideons bible
Gideon checked out and he left it no doubt
To help with good rockys revival

Georgie And Her Rival

Georgie grew to hate her name
It sounded like a tiny man
And the one she had said "I can't see you, but I'll call you
whenever I can"
Sometimes the phone would ring, when she was half-asleep
A voice would drag her down with its suggestions
Though she often felt cheated, she never felt cheap
CHORUS
Well heaven knows what fills the heart and makes you feel so
alive
It's impossible to tear apart
Georgie and her rival
It was half-past February
And he hadn't called since New Year's Day
Maybe he'd found another woman to say those words no chapel girl
should say
Her mother would phone and always keep talking
She'd try to be polite, making faces
But somewhere in the back of her mind, her rival was stalking
CHORUS
Her rival would always wait till the eighth or ninth bell
He'd be desperate anyway and drunk as well
She always liked to hurt him to prove he was prepared
To love her anyway that she wanted
So she could tell which she preferred
He sat up with his address book trying to think what mood he's in
His finger traced past Georgie's name to someone who needed less
persuading
He didn't hear through her disguise he didn't leave her in a rush
Just like the promise that he left on her machine
That almost made her blush
The radio plays a lover's symphony
"The number you have dialed has been re-directed"
Now she puts him on the speaker-phone
Whenever she has company
CHORUS

Boomerang Of Actions

Believe in science,
you are caught in DNA.

Believe in its rival,
you are caged in karma.

Believe in nothing,
you have accidents.

Never even begin to believe,
you still face the unknown.

The Art of Love: Book Two

...Short partings do best, though: time wears out affections,
The absent love fades, a new one takes its place.
With Menelaus away, Helen's disinclination for sleeping
Alone led her into her guest's
Warm bed at night. Were you crazy, Menelaus?
Why go off leaving your wife
With a stranger in the house? Do you trust doves to falcons,
Full sheepfolds to mountain wolves?
Here Helen's not at fault, the adulterer's blameless -
He did no more than you, or any man else,
Would do yourself. By providing place and occasion
You precipitated the act. What else did she do
But act on your clear advice? Husband gone; this stylish stranger
Here on the spot; too scared to sleep alone -
Oh, Helen wins my acquittal, the blame's her husband's:
All she did was take advantage of a man's
Human complaisance. And yet, more savage than the tawny
Boar in his rage, as he tosses the maddened dogs
On lightening tusks, or a lioness suckling her unweaned
Cubs, or the tiny adder crushed
By some careless foot, is a woman's wrath, when some rival
Is caught in the bed she shares. Her feelings show
On her face. Decorum's flung to the wind, a maenadic
Frenzy grips her, she rushes headlong off
After fire and steel... .

Arbor Day

[ music: natalie merchant/lyric: natalie merchant ]
Wide open falsehood
The clan destine truths
Rival till the end
In a series of duels
Pardon the drapery language I choose
Waltz in vienna has taught me to use
Every tall room a fiction
Leather bound treasure books
Up to the ceiling
Gold spine upon spine
The guile and the treason
The faith and allegiance
Wide open falsehood
The clan destine truths
Rival till the end
In a series of duels
Pardon the drapery language I choose
The author grew fat to imagine
His lead pen careening
Gave voice to the scheming
An aryan cabale to dethrone
The guile and the treason
The faith and allegiance
To the empire unknown
The baron and his mistress
Dine in fine banquet hall
As rebel insurgents plot in
The attic space crawl
Wide open falsehood
The clan destine truths
Rival till the end
In a series of duels
Pardon the drapery language I choose
His small hand did strive
To explain all the
Rants and raves of
A people enslaved
By the cant of the shrewdest
Capable men
The guile and the treason
The faith and allegiance
Now lie in my hand
The guile and the treason
The faith and allegiance
Now lie in my hand

Karma Chameleon

Desert loving in your eyes all the way
If I listen to your lies would you say
Im a man without conviction
Im a man who doesnt know
How to sell a contradiction
You come and go
You come and go
Karma karma karma karma karma chameleon
You come and go
You come and go
Loving would be easy if your colors were like my dream
Red, gold and green
Red, gold and green
Didnt hear your wicked words every day
And you used to be so sweet I heard you say
That my love was an addiction
When we cling our love is strong
When you go youre gone forever
You string along
You string along
Every day is like a survival
Youre my lover not my rival
Every day is like a survival
Youre my lover not my rival
Im a man without conviction
Im a man who doesnt know
How to sell a contradication
You come and go
You come and go
