Hey waiter
Im first class
Hey waiter
Where are we now?
Am I last
Am I last
Hey waiter
Dont talk back
These tenants speak
A travellers language
Caucasian talk
Theyre saying nothing
I see a land
As we crawl by night
I see a face
In the window in front
These stations are useful
These stations we love them
Newspaper
Encounter
Confusion
Hey waiter
Im first class
Hey waiter
What state is this?
These reptiles scream
A violent party
All art and jazz
And league of nations
I see a land
As we crawl by night
I see a face
In the window in front
The east is calling
Im feeling nervous
I love the western
Style and change
These stations are useful
These stations we love them
These stations are useful
These stations we love them
Newspaper
Encounter

And in an era where radio stations that are inclined to play Styx music are your classic rock stations and the stations that play current music look at us as dinosaurs - the only way we could reach people with our new music, generally, is to perform live.

Sons & Fascination
Summer rains are here
Savaged beauty life
Falling here from grace
Sister feeling call
Cruising land to land
No faith no creed no soul
Half a world away
Beauty sleeps in time
Sound and fury play
Ma son warm land semi-monde
Ma son warm land semi-monde
Cry because youre young
Governments and gifts
Hearts are in our mouths
Thank you for the voice
Thank you for the eyes
Thank you for the good times
Golden guns and cars
Styles and motorcades
In screaming beauty days
Ma son warm land semi-monde
Ma son warm land semi-monde
Only winds that twist
When white money calls
Falling here from grace
White-eye movement trust
Parades are leaving town
When boys of venice call
In all stations trust
In all stations soul
Sons and fascination
Ma son warm lands semi-monde
Ma son warm lands semi-monde

I couldn't get my album played over the so-called smooth jazz stations. Jazz stations would not play it. You don't always know who you're making that soul connection with.
Waiter! Bring Me Water!
He took me to--our favorite spot
A place we go to hang a lot
Something seemed to catch his eye
Oh--oo--oh over my shoulder
Oh--oo--oh over my shoulder
I turned around--to see whats up
A pretty young thing sure enough
She was new--he wanted to
Kno--oo--oh--oh--oo--ow her
Kno--oo--oh--oh--oo--ow her
Oh--yeah--
Then she flicked her hair (yeah!)
Oh--yeah--he began to stare
[chorus:]
Waiter! (waiter) bring me water!
I gotta make him keep his cool
(waiter) bring me water!
Hes acting like a fool
(waiter) bring me water!
Uh, oh, I did my best--to block his view
But it was like he could see through me
I just knew--he wanted to
Ho--oo--oh--oh--oo--oh--old her
Ho--oo--oh--oh--oo--oh--old her
Oh--yeah--i aint gettin nowhere (yeah!)
Oh--yeah--shes still standing there
[repeat chorus]
Theres gotta be a way to cool this clown--
Hes starting to embarrass me
I may even have to hose him down--
Bring me water
I dont know what he finds so distracting--
Whats so hot about her
I really dont like the way hes acting
Bring me water!
Uh, bring it on!
Uhhhh
Oh
Whats so hot about her
Uh, uh, uh,
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
(waiter, bring me water)
Gotta make him keep his cool
(waiter, bring me water)
Send him back to school
(waiter, bring me water)
Hes acting like a fool
(waiter, bring me water)
Waiter, bring me water

When radio stations started playing music the record companies started suing radio stations. They thought now that people could listen to music for free, who would want to buy a record in a record shop? But I think we all agree that radio stations are good stuff.

Set On Auto-Pilot
Not only have they been,
Floating along powered by denial.
Their minds have been set on auto-pilot,
For as long as the supplies held out.
Now no one can convince them,
They must swim to shore...
Aided by their own initiative.
For them what had existed,
Is no more!
Many have chosen to ignore this warning.
With a demand for a new menu.
And a replacement of a chef...
That has never existed to prepare a new dish.
They laugh and perceive this to be an absurdity.
'Excuse me? '
And the tides are rushing ever so close,
To toss them all over a cliff.
And this...
They protest with the loudest of voices.
And wish all of this nonsense,
Be stopped by the shutting of lips.
Excuse me?
Waiter?
Waiter?
Did you see him pass us?
As if he did not hear me.
WAITER?
That's it.
He gets from me no tip! '
That is why they pass petitions.
To avoid this 'foolishness'.
'Waiter?
And he's parading around here,
With a lifejacket on.
Waiter?
I'm demanding your presence immediately.
Oh no he didn't! !
Did you see him sush me? '

Basic J
Jo the waiter spilling wine
Over some ex-friends of mine
In zero cafe number 9
What you gonna say this time
Basic j, say, are you new here
New ones walking down the stairs
Pretty young thing but no-one cares
Jo the waiter drops the tray
Do you always know your name
Jo the waiter smiled at me
Jo the waiters company
I keep him in a book by my fireside
A drama is my perfect bride

Breasts On a Plate
She needed to feel more desirable.
So she placed her breasts on a plate.
She asked our waiter what he thought!
The waiter looked at me and apologized
For not being more prompt with the check!

Calling All Stations
Calling all stations
Can anybody tell me, tell me exactly where I am
Ive lost all sense of direction
Watching the darkness closing around me
Feeling the cold all through my body
Thats why Im calling all stations
In the hope that someone hears me
A single lonely voice
I feel the sensation disappearing
Theres a tingling in my arms
And theres a numbness in my hands
All the broken promises
All my good intentions dont add up to very much
And I realise whatever happened, whatever happened
I remember all the moments that Ive wasted in my life
All the things I was always gonna do
Why is it now when its too late
That Ive finally realised its important to me
To think that everything thats dear to me
And is always in my heart
Could so easily be taken
And its tearing me apart
Going over and over in my mind
I relive it one second at a time
Calling all stations
Can anybody tell me, tell me exactly where I am
How different things look when your all on your own
Watching the darkness closing all around me
All around me
And Im lost with feeling
Of your arms to remind me
Of everything thats dear to me
And is always in my heart
Could so easily be taken
And its tearing me apart
Going over and over in my mind
I relive it one second at a time
Dont you know theres never been a moment
When I havent had the thought
That everything thats dear to me
And is always in my heart
Could so easily be taken
And its tearing me apart
Going over and over in my mind
I relive it one second at a time
As I sit here in the darkness
Feeling so alone
And everything thats dear to me
And is always in my heart...

Chelsea Girl
And now the sound of time is getting fast
Its getting late
Dont know if I can take much more
The way you talk I often wondered
If I heard the words somewhere
Someplace before
I got so nervous when I called
And found that lately
You had gone and changed your name
But Ive got something on my mind
I want you here
I want you now
You better explain
Is it true youre running round
Now is it true theyre calling you
The chelsea girl
Is it true youre running round
Now is it true theyre calling you
The chelsea girl
Your best friend never calls you up
But you dont mind
cause lately things are all the same
Aint it strange how peope always seem
To know your face
But just dont know your name
Well I dont care theres no-one there
That even turn around and say get out of this place
Last night I saw a shooting star
When morning comes
She hides away
A real disgrace
Is it true youre running round
Now is it true theyre calling you
The chelsea girl
Is it true youre running round
Now is it true theyre calling you
The chelsea girl
Oh chelsea girl
You got me caught up in a whirl
I want you here now chelsea girl

Stations were built at intervals averaging fifteen miles apart. A rider's route covered three stations, with an exchange of horses at each, so that he was expected at the beginning to cover close to forty-five miles - a good ride when one must average fifteen miles an hour.

Hard Luck Story
Dont ask me to love my neighbour
Cause I dont love the man
Dont ask me for my favours
I wont lend a hand
And if I had real power
Then I could disappear
Wouldnt have to be around you
Id sink into the atmosphere
Then I wouldnt hear
Your hard luck story
Its a hard luck, a hard luck story
Dont ask me to tip the waiter
For he is underhand
I can tell he is a woman hater
And he is a nasty man
Within reach lies all desire
For each and every soul
Stripped bare and stretching higher
You fall into the last balck hole
To end your hard
Hard luck story
Its a hard luck
Hard luck story
Dont ask me to pray to jesus
Ive never met the man
I only meet weekend preachers
Pictures of the promised land
All the new holy saviours
Who pretend to understand
Who do you think will save you
Modern day beggar man
Such a hard luck
Hard luck story
Its a hard luck
Hard luck story
Its such a hard
Hard luck story
Its a hard luck
Hard luck story
Dont ask me to love my neighbour
Dont ask me to tip the waiter
Dont ask me to pray to jesus
He picked his time to leave us
Its a hard luck
Hard luck story
Its a hard luck
Hard luck story
Its a hard luck story
Hard luck story

State Trooper
New jersey turnpike, ridin on a wet night 'neath the refinrys glow
Out where the great black rivers flow
License, registration: I aint got none
But I got a clear conscience 'bout the things that I done
Mister state trooper, please dont stop me
Please dont stop me, please dont stop me
Maybe you got a kid, maybe you got a pretty wife
The only thing that I gots been bothrin me my whole life
Mister state trooper, please dont stop me
Please dont stop me, please dont stop me
In the wee, wee hours your mind get hazy
Radio relay towers lead me to my baby
The radios jammed up with talk show stations
Its just talk, talk, talk, talk, till you lose your patience
Mister state trooper, please dont stop me
Hey, somebody out there, listen to my last prayer
Hiho silver-o, deliver me from nowhere

Turn It On
Put your face up to the window
Tell me all about your gay folks
It feels better when you in it
If your nervous use the pay phone
Put your face where we can see it
Put it on a show on cable
You can really show it all there
Turn it on when you are able
(chorus)
Turn it on
Turn it on and all the way up
Turn it on
In your houses when you wake up
Turn it on
When you aint got no relation
To all those other stations
Turn it on
Put your life into a bubble
We can pick you up on radar
Hit a satelite with feeling
Give the people what they paid for

Shearing's Coming
There's a sound of many voices in the camp and on the track,
And letters coming up in shoals to stations at the back;
And every boat that crosses from the sunny 'other side'
Is bringing waves of shearers for the swelling of the tide.
For the shearing's coming round, boys, the shearing's coming round,
And the stations of the mountains have begun to hear the sound.
They'll be talking up at Laghmor of the tallies that were shore,
And the man who broke the record is remembered at Benmore;
And the yarns of strikes and barneys will be told till all is blue,
And the ringers and the bosses will be passed in long review.
For the shearing's coming round, boys, the shearing's coming round,
And the stations of the mountains have begun to hear the sound.
The great Orari muster and the drafting of the men
Like a mob of ewes and wethers will be surely told again;
And a lot of heathen places that will rhyme with kangaroo
Will be named along with ringers and the things that they can do.
For the shearing's coming round, boys, the shearing's coming round,
And the stations of the mountains have begun to hear the sound.
At last the crowds will gather for the morning of the start,
And the slowest of the jokers will be trying to look smart;
And a few will get the bullet, and high hopes will have a fall,
And the bloke that talks the loudest stands a show of looking small.
For the shearing's coming round, chaps, the shearing's coming round,
And the voices of the workers have begun to swell the sound.
