Not To Forget

I implore myself not to forget
Your hair softly touching your shoulders
Or the swaying of your skirt
On a windy springtime day,

The confidence in your voice
As you laugh with friends
On a summer evening with drinks,

The magical gleam in your eyes
As you sing a song you memorized
From when you were a child,

The excited way you snatch my books
From my two calm hands
To see what poet I’m currently reading.

I passionately must recall every minute detail
Of your smile or the clothes you wear:
In such all encompassing loveliness,
The world’s problems become immensely small.
