I Hope You Listen

Sometimes
I’m a fragile autumn leaf
Blowing through your city
And crumbling at your door.

Theirs is nothing
I can do anymore
To change who I am
Or to alter how I feel,
To disguise my face
Or conceal my tears.

I’ve only lived
To write a few poems
And to walk the streets
That witnessed our love.

When these limited days
Have vanished
Like a waking dream,
My sad voice
Will still be heard.

I hope you listen.
