Dreamt of Her

Lakeside moonlight
Upon her hair,
Stars swirling in adoration,
A pretext for love.

I derive
From a family
Of romantic thieves,
And I only want her heart.

I would open my soul
To any scorn or ridicule
To merely gaze into her eyes.

To count the days
Of a life expiring
And to say it was all worthwhile
And charmingly magical
To merely hear her voice
And see her smile.

I’m a sweet man
But obsessed with unimaginable beauty;
I accept my fate with mad pleasure:
Winning a woman’s hand is nothing
But to have dreamt of her
With flowers and compliments is everything.
