In Retrospect

We all know
how easy it is
to be witty
in retrospect

when not on the spot
with an interview question

or when engaged
in rapid comments
made in free spoken
general conversation

one of these
spontaneous
comments made
will get us all
in due course

if we talk long enough
in general terms
without fore thought
pondering all angles
or political ramifications.
