I Said ' When I Grow Old

I SAID, ‘WHEN I GROW OLD’

I said,
‘When I grow old
My poem will not be
a sad poem'-
My poem will be a poem
In memory
Of all the good I have known in my life-
Now I am old
And my poem is of pain and sadness also-
But the poem of gladness
The song of my soul
The poem of joy
Remains.
Oh how beautiful this life can be
When walking and singing free
Night is a reverie.
