I Have Given My Life To Writing

I HAVE GIVEN MY LIFE TO WRITING

I have given my life to writing
And forgotten almost all of it
Why should others remember
What I do not?

Lines of great beauty are rare
And poets of greatness more so
Why remember my little lines
When billions beat on forever emptily?
