No light means no shadow

It is true
That I lost many fortunes,
That I missed many chances
And that I left many ambitions.
It must be true
That I was saved of many misfortunes,
That I was spared of many pitfalls
And that I was left of many traps
That would have interfered with them
Had I succeeded to get them.
