On Climbing A Tree

i am up here
and you look at me

i know you are
looking at something
less important

the one that humiliates
me and yet
desirable

it is only a part of me
and the negligible part in you

these we can part with
these we can compromise

inside the room we catch
ourselves in a compromising situation

you know what i mean
and you too mean what you know

the glass is misty-eyed
the weather of course is colder

we know what we did
we know we never know what regret meant
