Notes From Dante's House Of Metaphors
along the alley
leading to the living room of your house
you put a very
fragile jar
it is empty
i walk casually there upon
your invitation
and i trip upon it
and it rolls away from us
i run to hold it back
not wanting it broken
i catch it and give it back to you
and you smile
we drink to something left
unbroken
we feast on things retained
we choose the flowers that
we have grown in the garden
we keep the silence
of long years still unforgotten
