Last Night The Dog

last night the white dog
slept with me
and so i dream about
other dogs, and fleas
and hairs
and claws...

but the white dog was
prominently inside that dream
she was licking me
all over

and that was that
which made it different
in this poem the tongue becomes
the metaphor
of something that wakes the body
as though
it is the white dog that gives
it a soul
