I Could Have Told You About Religion

i could have told you about religion
about the angels with white wings
and all the saints and holy men
long dead who left an imprint on the earth

about God and his goodness and his
greatness

but then you were sleepy and then
when you woke up you said you were busy
earning for a living
some kids to take care of
a house to clean
a garden to tend

and so to take your full attention i hinted you about
sex.

your world stopped spinning.
